JMILL reacted to Darrick Snyder in Brownsburg - Preseason #1?
I thought Brownsburg was going to get destroyed by a list of a dozen schools beginning last year?  Something about how something of ours were going to get eaten.  We weren't interested by the way.
Throw out your backhand compliments.  We are often criticized.  It has worked out okay for us.  When contenders are mentioned, we seem to always be in the conversation....unlike someone else, we didn't make a guarantee of winning or list all the schools that were going to beat another school.  We just show up and do work.
...and to bring up feeder schools?!?!?!!?!? ? HAHAHAHAHAHA....both of our middle schools are strong.  Our Elementary Dual team consistently competes at a high level.  Yes, we have strong feeders.
I know our coaching staff could never compete with that of Indy Schools, but yeah Smiley was an okay addition.  Ayersman guy did okay.  HWT coaches took a beginner to a state championship.  I have a had a tad success here and at Mishawaka, etc. etc.
Keep talking and we will keep working.
    Snyder

I'll defend the ISWA on costs as it is one of the biggest issues that are brought up especially when you are talking about Fargo.
Most of the costs of the trip do not change whether there are 10 kids or 100 kids attending. The cost for room and board, gear, entry fee, camp costs, etc all are set prices that aren't going to change with the number of kids attending. The transportation costs do go down or up based on numbers, but that is not affected as much unless they have to send a half full bus. The last thing that really adds to the cost are the coaches and ISWA staff that attend the event. The kids are basically all chipping in to pay for the coach's lodging, travel, and gear.
The ISWA puts aside a good amount of money to help subsidize each trip, but after spreading it out over 60-80 kids it doesn't look like much. On top of that the ISWA does try to make these trips as inexpensive as possible.
In the past they went to Fargo early and held camp there which cut a little costs due to the housing there being fairly cheap. The past few years they went back to having a camp here a few weeks beforehand. I'm not sure on the cost difference for the camps being here. The ISWA also tried to have a two-year gear plan where you'd only have to buy gear once every two years. I am not sure that many liked that and thus they went back to getting new gear every year.
One other note, there have been kids that stayed with their parents and even flew with their parents to Fargo, but they are REQUIRED to still pay the full sum for the event without discount.
Now, how do we solve this? Not sure the easy answer. If you allow the parents/coaches to take their kids like Akron or Folkstyle Nationals it will likely hurt participation greatly. The costs in all honesty would be a little cheaper, but a week in a hotel and meals would really make or break the cost of the event. The dorms at Fargo are really cheap for the kids and that is why it has been so hard for the ISWA and other state organizations to get away from them. If the location for the event changed it would have to be something really close to really affect the costs and that would be with the hopes that the housing and meal prices stay similar.

With Littel and Lee gone.......my man (never met him) Dorian Keys grabs the #1 spot on Evansville's P4P... and hey @JMILL some Miller kid I guess will slide in, I know I'm getting desperate.
If a skinny wants it go and win a state title chumps.
I'm back and doing rankings again (it's like a bad addiction), line ups and mat cred to dubentz@gmail.com.

Just want to thank all the Indiana wrestling fans that came to Carver Hawkeye Arena to cheer on Jesse(70+).  Jesse definitely had the loudest crowd besides the 2 Iowa commits.  Also thank you to the Joe, Mike, and Caleb for coming out(even got to see Caleb's sick dance moves).  This was an amazing weekend for Jesse and our family.  Jesse was really happy with the support he received from everyone and is already talking about coming back next year.
Side note: Indiana has had 5 WNO competitors compared to Iowa's 1.  Indiana is killing it on the national scene and there is another strong group of young men in middle school that is going to keep that tradition alive.  Indiana is and will continue to be respected.

Congrats to Jesse Mendez who went out and represented the State of Indiana very well at Who’s #1. He put on two awesome matches that could have gone either way. I believe he was the youngest person there and will be back to battle again for that spot.

@Sig40 has said in previous posts that this is not even the most impressive CP line up coming and that the next 4-5 yrs the line up will get even better and better.  that is scary given their line up this year will be very very very good and their coaching staff is also at that same level with Hawk, Cosgrove, Sessa, McGill and the list keeps going.  Look forward to see how this all turns out over next few years for sure !!!

Hector @Sig40 if you would have said that Jesse's response was anything else other than this I would have asked @Y2CJ41 to check into your account for it getting hacked because knowing Jesse I know there was never a doubt or question in his mind other than this answer.   Great kid and he makes all of proud to say we know him man !!!

We love the idea. Gives Jesse a chance to avenge a loss from last year at Super32 to Jack and then wrestle another amazing wrestler at same event. Giving Jesse a shot at 2 extremely tough matches in one day is totally worth it.
Side note: Willie asked Jesse if he was ok with making it a 4 man bracket and he said he was down to wrestle anyone. It is definitely the hardest way to defend his ranking, but I am really excited to hopefully watch him wrestle twice at Carver Hall.

I have had the opportunity to coach at Kingsport twice for Team North Carolina when my nephews (Who wrestle at Campbell now) were on the team and have coached both the elem and middle school teams at Heartland over last couple years.  Both tourneys has their shares of studs but I would say for the depth and overall talent level of the teams Heartland wins it going away.  Kingsport is a neat tourney and I agree would be a great meet to introduce our kids new to national level competition too.
