    You said state placers.

    Regional-Qualifiers-Placers
Jay County- 91--47 Goshen- 76--36 Carroll- 72--25 Peru- 41--11   If you also want some stats, the Jay County 2nd placers run into the champion from the Peru regional 42 times from 2009-2015, while the other regional's 2nd placers ran into the Peru champion 28 times each(56 times). On top of that the 2nd placers from Peru ran into the Jay County champion 42 times. Thus if Peru is really the weaker regional, it has made it a lot easier for Jay County to qualify their champions and runner-ups.

Well, we are seeing some things that we thought would happen and we can always make adjustments but we now have 102 girls in this tourney. When this tourney reaches the state next week we should have 8 girls in each bracket but a couple like 88lbs and HWT they have 3 in each. My idea from the beginning wasn't to exclude but include as may girls as possible. I am glad to see that we are filling up 182 and 195 and 220 and HWT that tells me some girls want a chance at this and I am glad for them. It has to start somewhere as anything does. We have worked hard to get here and really covered a lot of territory. We can always go to 7 weight classes but at this point I am glad we included any and every girl that had a dream to wrestle no matter what their weight was. Coach Myers IHSGW

I have heard rumors of the East Chicago Semi-State being relocated.  I have also heard that the Calumet Regional will be moving to Merrillville.  Does anyone have any information about the validity of these statements or are they just hearsay?

I really should get actual work done - but wrestling is much more interesting. Here's my unofficial breakdown of the last four years.
I used a scoring format of 4 points for 1st, 3 for 2nd and so on.

    2016
    New Castle - 4 champs, 5 2nds, 6 thirds, 3 fourths = 46 points
    Evansville - 4 champs, 3 2nds, 5 thirds, 4 fourths = 39 points
    E. Chicago/Merriville - 6 champs, 5 2nds, 1 third, 5 fourths = 46 points
    Ft. Wayne - 0 champs, 1 2nd, 2 thirds, 2 fourth = 9 points

    2015
    New Castle - 4 champs, 6 2nds, 5 thirds, 5 fourth = 49 points
    Evansville - 2 champs, 2 2nds, 5 thirds, 4 fourths = 28 points
    E. Chicago/Merriville - 7 champs, 4 seconds, 1 third, 2 fourths = 44 points
    Ft. Wayne - 1 champ, 2 2nds, 3 3rds, 3 fourths = 19 points

    2014
    New Castle - 6 champs, 5 2nds, 2 thirds, 3 4ths = 46 points
    Evansville - 4 champs, 1 2nd, 6 thirds, 3 4ths = 34 points
    E. Chicago/Merriville - 3 champs, 5 2nds, 3 3rds, 2 4ths = 35 points
    Ft. Wayne - 1 champ, 3 2nds, 3 thirds, 2 fourth = 25 points

    2013
    New Castle - 7 champs, 5 2nds, 4 thirds, 3 fourths = 54 points
    Evansville - 1 champ, 1 2nd, 4 thirds, 5 fourths = 20 points
    E. Chicago/Merriville - 5 champs, 4 2nds, 1 third, 1 fourth = 35 points
    Ft. Wayne - 1 champ, 4 2nds, 5 thirds, 5 fourths = 30

    Total over 4 years

    1) New Castle 195
    2) E. Chicago/Merriville  160
    3) Evansville 120
    4) Ft. Wayne 83

I'd have to agree, based on what I've learned of this event that past couple yrs. I will say that our coaches, and even myself will keep everyone up to speed on significant wins and placements of our Shenandoah guys. I'm sure other schools will do the same. I'll do my best to at least get weight class champions and runner-ups of all classes to share here on the website. Tell you what though, the lack of seeding wrestlers makes for an interesting day 1!!!! Could very likely have ranked match-ups in the 1st 2 rounds. Definitely some pros/cons.......but I guess it's all just a part of what makes this tourney so competitive and challenging to win.

Look forward to it. Especially the Yorktown results. You seemed to have taken offense to the "strategic" line man? It wasn't meant to be slick or to downtrodden either team in any way. It was a curious question that would be understandable if either team chose to go that route. As a parent first, then a fan of solid wrestlers in general second.......I was simply anxious for the results of a potential Rutter-Rasler & Laughlin-Levitz match-up. I'm confident quite a few others around the state found interest in that dual as well brother. But, thankful you guys made it home safely on slick roads even if it was late. Looking forward to Fri. Take care

Did you not read my above post? I wasn't eluding to either team being "scared". Strategy has nothing to do with fear man? I feel I've clarified perfectly, even going as far as saying that the "strategic" QUESTION wasn't meant to be slick or sarcastic. If somebody wants to turn it into anything else, that's their poor choice. I'm done speaking on the matter. Never been the type to tongue wrestle or throw jabs through social media. Anyone who knows me will validate that. Again......I can't be anymore crystal regarding my past posts. Looked like a great weekend for both squads. Fri can't come quick enough.

Bruins2013 reacted to Chris Cooper in Article: #Wrestling Wednesday: Faulkens opens up about wrestling
The coaches you mentioned have done a phenomenal job, no question, and I respect them a lot... but these programs weren't starting from scratch. Youth coaches at Brownsburg built up their club before Snyder arrived, Penn has a tremendous enrollment to draw from, and Portage has exceptional tradition from the Coach P days as well. I'm not downplaying what these coaches have done, these teams have accomplished great things, but these examples are far from the norm.

From experience I can say it takes an unbelievable amount of work to start from essentially scratch and build up a program that can compete on a yearly basis. Even then a competitive team only goes so far. You have to put an additional amount of work in promoting your meets to increase attendance. Including elementary and middle schools in your meets will go a long way, but takes tons of leg work, planning, and persistence. I'm pretty confident in saying that adjusting scheduling rules to include more weeknight duals will not increase attendance nor participation levels. However, working at increasing attendance at your currently scheduled weekday meets COULD increase participation.

We have 6 weekday dual meets on our schedule. Our JV kids are lucky if they get a match in 2 of those 6 meets. If parents new to the sport don't like sitting in a gym most of a day on a Saturday to watch their kid wrestle a couple matches, you can bet they like even less the 45 minute drive on a weeknight to sit in a gym for an hour and not see their kid wrestle at all.

Luke Fischer from Bishop Luers is undefeated as well.  He had a productive off-season and I've heard it before so hear it goes: He beat a couple guys you have in the state rankings during the off-season.  I'm not saying he should be state ranked, yet..but semi-state rankings I believe he deserves some consideration.
