boomer got a reaction from Y2CJ41 in Fort Wayne and New Castle Semi-State rankings update 12/22
You can add them yourself. Just go to the results section. Then individual results and add the wins and score. Just takes a couple of minutes.

Just wanted to say congratulations to the Indiana wrestlers that placed at the Defiance tri-state border war tournament. There were 41 teams and many state ranked wrestlers out of Ohio and Michigan. Indiana represented well with only 6 teams entered we came away with three champs and 2 runner ups along with several other placers. I got to give an extra shout out to Eastside's 170 Laik Minnick for winning it and remaining undefeated at 24-0. Also Eastside's Seth Burns for finishing 4th and Chase Leeper for getting 6th.

I did some digging and found that there were 39 ranked Ohio wrestlers in this tournament. I could not check in Michigan (wasn't going to pay to look at rankings), but I could see that Mendon had 4 returning state qualifiers on there team with a returning champ. Niles also had a couple returning state guys with a returning runner-up. I am sure there were many other state ranked guys from Michigan as well but I could not check. Hunter Reed was the lone ranked Indiana guy. Laik Minnick beat 13th ranked Austin Hinzman and 10th ranked Keegan Vanmeter, both of Ohio on his way to a championship. Hunter Reed won beating out 4 ranked Ohio kids who were ranked 5th, 8th and 2 13th in different divisions. This tourney keeps getting better, but I would like to see a few more Indiana teams in the mix.

As you all know Riley is pretty good at wrestling. But I have to tell you all of something i witnessed after the the event was over that tells more about this MAN!!. After the event was over and the parents, coaches, & team were all celebrating with the 3rd Place team trophy at a near by restaurant. I walked back to where I had been sitting with my youngest son Easton (Owen's brother). As i approach the table, here is Easton (age 10) and Riley in a full conversation. What other 4X NCAA champ sits with a 10 year old after he just made NCAA Wrestling history and talks about how Easton has been doing in his matches and asking how proud he was of his older brother being an All-American? This man is truly one of a kind not only on the mat but in his everyday life. Every event that we had went to this year to watch Owen and the Wabash team, Easton was in constant wrestling mode with one of the Lefever boys, wrestling around and fending for his life. It is a year that Easton or the whole Doster family will never forget. Wabash wrestling is about academics & team!! Wabash was the best decision our son made and the state of Indiana has a GEM in Wabash College. #WAF #onevision

What a great two days of wrestling. Manchester College did a great job of hosting and the Expo hall was a great venue. Hope they have it again!!
Looking forward to Nationals in 2 weeks. #WAF #littlegiants #lacrossebound

This is the one argument more than any other where I come down fully on the class wrestling side of things. I distinctly remember whooping an Ohio state placer at an offseason camp. I was a one time semi state ticket rounder and never got past the regional other than that.
It blew my mind when that kid told me he was getting interest from colleges, because I sure as hell wasn't attracting any attention.
Yes, you still have to have the quality to back it up when you get there. But at the end of the day, a college scholarship is about a hell of a lot more than wrestling. It's an opportunity for an education that that kid may not have otherwise had access to. Anything that can help increase that opportunity is a good thing in my book.
I still love the idea of a single class though. In my perfect world, colleges would recognize IN SSQ as the same level as a classed state qualifier. That's not the world we live in though.

Our system does suck, but we are aware of it and it makes Indiana wrestling exciting...however, it's just plain ridiculous...and in my opinion it's laziness...We should have wrestle backs throughout the entire tournament

Sectionals should rotate between all the schools at it! Unfair home advantage to the host. Perfect example, Plymouth would probably not have won sectionals if it was not in front of their home crowd. Kids get excited about wrestling in their backyard.

Just wanted to say it was a good day of wrestling. Congratulations to Carroll and Garrett on their teams win and runner up finishes. Was also very impressed with Dwanger, especially their 126 and 170. Unfortunately we ran into them in the semis. Would also like to congratulate our kids from Eastside. We only took 9 kids and got 6 threw and 5 are under classman. Looking forward to next weekend and next year.

boomer reacted to TShipleyViking in Good luck wrestlers!
As you are preparing for regionals this week, good luck to every wrestler still competing. Congrats on your sectional success and to all the wrestlers that didn't make it through sectionals, Congrats on your great season, keep training hard for next year. As you wrestlers are training for regionals, you all have different goals, but at the end of the day, you all have the same opportunity to achieve an amazing thing. Top four at regional advancing to semi state. Keep in mind when you are training and competing how many would trade you to take your place, how many want the opportunity you have. Even if you don't finish this season where you wanted to or even if you do, win with dignity, and loose with humanity, i heard that saying from a snider fan the other day. Its a great saying to listen to. Not everyone gets to wrestle varsity, not everyone makes it out of sectionals, and some never get the opportunity to wrestle at the bank. That doesn't take away from the hard work and dedication they put into the sport. If you are competing this weekend good luck, Fly the W, and be proud. Not many get the opportunity. Its the greatest sport known to man and woman, the most grueling of them all, be proud to wrestle this weekend and thank your parents, coaches, teammates, and anyone else who has supported you and pushed you and made you better. Stay safe and healthy, wrestle tough, its anyones match on saturday morning.

Who cares if they made a thread..good for these wrestlers...it makes me laugh that you took time to put this thread down...if it's a waste of time then why are wasting time posting in this thread..this is a wrestling site so idk what your deal is...most parent, coaches and wrestlers wouldn't take time to talk smack either..you're entitled to your opinion but 102-9 is pretty damn impressive...I guess being proud is wrong now...
