Defiance Tri-State Border war

This is the 2nd year we have gone to this tournament. It is a well run tournament with some good competition from Ohio and Michigan (several placers and ranked guys). They do the finals right with one mat under a spot light. Champs also get a pretty cool custom jacket, plaque and a medal. They are trying to get more Indiana teams to come over. The goal is to have equal teams from Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. If you don't have a holiday tournament your going to and want some good wrestling then shoot them an email. It's right across the border in Defiance Ohio. Next year they will also have their new school done with a larger field house, should be nice.

Hunter Reed won at 152 and looked very good. Chris Schuller from Woodlan was runner up at 113, Zach Burrell was runner up at 126 and beat a Michigan d2 #7 ranked kid along the way. I did some quick checking and these are the ranked kids I found, only one from Indiana and that's Hunter Reed.

Michigan103 #2 Vince Perez, 119 #1 Spencer Good, #5 Andrew Flick, #8 Kellen Patton, 125 #7 Cade Stephenson, 130 #1 Drew Marten, 135 #4 Brenden Hall, 145 #4 Mitch Findieson , 152 #9 Gabe Bechtol.  Ohio 120 #11 Joe Wright, #13 Kobe Cunningham, 126 #5 Danny Assaf, 138 # 2 Gage Grunden, 160 #5 Luciano Mendicino, 170 # 1 Robbie Bowers, # 14 Patrick Keown, 182 # 4 Tre Terry, #7 Matthew Holt, 195 #11 Alex Eckles.

Lapel went. Kids really enjoyed themselves and got some great wrestling in as well.

Harrison Hadley (106) 5th

Sparky Manis (113) 8th Lost to 120 #13 Kobe Cunningham 6-2

Cully Upperman (126) 5th Lost to 125 #7 Cade Stephenson 3-1 SV-1

Mark Fensler (138) 5th

Kids had a little problem with adjusting to stall calls on top when riding with tight waist. I personally enjoyed how the officiating went, quicker with stall warnings and stalemates.
