And here's my rundown of what I expect for the lineup to look this season. 125 - Matt Ramos - our best shot at an AA this year, was blood round last year up a weight. 133 - Dustin Norris - top 100 ranked wrestler coming out of high school, coming off redshirt 141 - Parker Filius - has wins over AAs, just needs to put it together in March, assume he is using a Covid year 149 - Trey Kruse - really no clue who starts here, Alec White went through senior day, but I thought he might come back, definitely the weakest spot in the lineup 157 - Kendall Coleman - looked a little off last year coming off the ACL injury, hopefully rounds back into shape because he can AA 165 - Hayden Lohrey/Stoney Buell - Hayden Lohrey was solid last year, picked up some lower end ranked wins, Stoney Buell is coming off a solid redshirt campaign, tossup for who starts 174 - Jacob Null - highly ranked in high school, redshirted last year at NC State, split last year at 165/174 so this is a guess 184 - Macartney Parkinson - has spotty results through two years, hopefully can pull it together as the starter 197 - Tommy Penola - another bloodround guy, has an outside shot to AA depending on draw and his offseason improvement 285 - Hayden Copass - was the number one ranked heavyweight coming out of high school and was a late commitment swap from Wisconsin. Talented, but in a deep heavyweight field All in all, a pretty solid lineup for the Boilermakers. Have a few AA threats and will still field a competent lineup that fair decent in the Big Ten.

Very true. And I think that’s the reason Fred Glass , with the blessing of President McRobbie chose to make a change. Duane was not attracting in state elite .and the wrestlers they did have were at half throttle, it seemed ,and didn’t care. In contrast, Angels guys hit it hard every match and this shows in the bleachers as compared to Goldmans fan base. Not saying Angel is the answer but giving him the reins is and was better than what we had. Now how long does the administration give this coach to keep the trajectory in an upwardly movement? I see a leveling off. Thus my reason for starting the thread. It’s not that Angel can’t coach necessarily ,now it seems getting a handle on recruiting and maybe assembling and keeping assistants for consistency ,is the things he needs to improve on.

  5. I get this, but I do not think Goldman ever went more than three years without an All-American, and every now and then there was a Hoosier in the finals. I remember when IU let go of Coach Mallory because he only made six bowl games in 13 years. The result was Cam Cameron, a few others, and IU didn't see another bowl game for I think twelve years. What's my point? I don't know. It just seems like the athletic department wants to do worse. I am a huge Escobedo fan, and I really hope this year is when he turns it around.

  15. Yes, numbers were low this year as it was tough timing for the wrestle off's being during spring break. My issue is that when we had them in February people complained it was too early because it was hard for kids to get back to weight in April. We couldn't hold it in early March because I had no idea until closer to time when we were going to be able to hold Folkstyle state and how many weekends it was going to take so we landed on this date as being the real only choice this year. With that said it doesn't help that we have lots of people out encouraging other things and discouraging people from wanting to be part of the ISWA National Team trip (I won't go into specifics, but like Spencer Lee says "if you know you know"). Its OK, we have several kids that are getting the great opportunity and will get better and benefit from the trip. We do however need the following weights filled for MS team if anyone wants the opportunity and or wants to help get kids out there. MS 132,140,195 & HWT (2) Reach out to me directly if anyone has a lead on kids for these websites and if anyone wants to post fighting responses to my comments above please don't as I have no time for that.

  16. Here's the link to registration. 2 people per participant allowed, this number includes coaches and siblings. Obviously, they are being strict with numbers and the mask mandate. Let me know if you have any questions. https://www.trackwrestling.com/tw/opentournaments/VerifyPassword.jsp?tournamentId=617632132

    Middle School State

Middle School weights are different across the state, the middle school seasons are different across the state too. The IHWCA has actually developed a committee to help pull middle school wrestling together as a state to help improve it as a whole. The IHSWCA Middle School State Tournament could be a good model for this. We felt that the weight classes for Heartland Duals didn't reflect what would be ideal, we felt that there weren't enough weight classes. So we went from 17 to 22 weight classes. Then we wanted to model the age group with the IHSAA age group, so you can't be 16 before the tournament (just like you can't be 20 before the IHSAA tournament), and we added 5th graders (as many middle schools across the state include 5th graders). We may end up taking the Heartland Duals qualifying portion away from the tournament, we may just use it as criteria. This was a miscommunication between the IHSWCA and the ISWA, I'll take the blame for this and I apologize the confusion it may cause. All the decision we make are to create opportunities for our wrestlers and to improve Indiana wrestling. Here's the link to the MS State Tournament, I'd be happy to answer any questions. https://www.trackwrestling.com/tw/opentournaments/VerifyPassword.jsp?tournamentId=617632132
