Kennedy put on a TD clinic and overcame being very, very gassed to win 14-10 over IL state qualifier Dillon Lee. Nice display of heart and neutral-work by Kennedy.

Izaak Johnson was similarly in control of his IL opponent, winning over Welty 13-4.

This is a different story. IL's Pawelski came out guns blazing and leads 8-2 to start 2nd.  Kuhn appears overmatched vs the Stanford recruit. Pawelski gets the fall.

Coureur trails IL's 4th place finisher Gutierrez 11-3 in the 3rd. Again, just a little overmatched, as Gutierrez is sort of picking his spots and doing what he wants to do. 15-4 late in the 3rd.....17-4 final

Wow, IL's Zabala comes out and almost immediately has Phillips on the ground and nearly on his back. Very impressive on his feet. Phillips unable to get his own offense going. Phillips nearly funks his way into a counter TD. Zabala secures a single, lifts it high, gets another TD. Really dynamic on his feet. Phillips finally counters him and nearly pins him.  Ref might've been out of position, looked like he had the fall. Zabala reverses, some nice action here.8-7 Zabala leads Phillips to start 3rd. Phillips down to start 3rd, escapes...8-8. Big two-handed shove by Zabala sends Phillips rolling for his escape. Another TD for Zabala 10-8, esc Phillips 10-9...HUGE TD for Phillips to take the lead late, 11-10....inj time for Phillips. If he can ride out Zabala for the last bit of the period, he will post a very impressive comeback victory. Late reversal for Zabala, less than 3 seconds 12-11....what a great match! Zabala wins, but great job by Phillips

Martin got the first TD and led 4-2 late in 3rd...wins 4-2 over IL 4th place finisher

Crume deep on a single vs Montini stud Laster..out of bounds....Crume secures it in the next flurry to lead 2-0. Reversal by Laster early in 2nd, esc Crume, Crume leads 3-2. Crume consistently initiating and taking most of the shots, Laster pretty good with the rubber leg stalemate. Crume gets a late TD to lead 5-2 heading into 3rd. Crume is really impressive vs this 3X place-winner. Leads 8-2 with a minute to go and has really controlled the entire match. They say Purdue, N. Ill, Ohio, Uindy, Lindsey Wilson, etc are in attendance....sign this kid! Great win for Crume, 8-2

Welch gets the first TD, leads 2-1 to start 2nd. 2-2 on the Johnson escape. 4-3 welch leads to start 3rd period. 5-3 with Johnson letting him go. TD for Welch and esc Johnson...7-4 Welch. Welch caps it with another TD, beats the 2X placer 9-4

Rodawald very impressive, gets the quick TD, soon after stacks him up and pins Perez. Tough outing for Perez, but Rodawald looked much, much bigger with the 7 pound weight allowance (heard his coach say Perez was right around 130 for this match). Well, that and Rodawald is a true stud, 4X qualifier, 1x champ, 1x runner-up

Baysinger trails 2-1 in the 2nd, trying to get out from underneath state runner-up Wynn, whose singlet looks eerily similar to Perry Meridian's. Wynn working him over on top, rides him the entire 2nd period. Wynn down to start the 3rd, esc 3-1...yorktown's stud needs a TD....time running out, Baysinger gets the TD, briefly has a cradle, gets backs, pulls the big upset over the runner-up 5-3. Very nice

Blanton and Spraggins really went after one another. Spraggins built up a nice lead, with some missed close calls by Blanton. Blanton turned up the physicality and tried to come back, but ran out of time, falling 13-10 to the 4 time placer, 1x champ, 2x runner-up. Great match

McHugh used some fierce top work to nearly pin Sears a couple of times, ultimately winning 9-2

Molloy and Lardy scoreless thru 1. Lardy down to start 2nd, gets the reversal, rides Molloy out rest of 2nd. Molloy down to start 3rd, gets the escape. Lardy avoids Molloy until 30 secs are left, sweet Molloy single to lead 3-2.....wins 3-2 against a tough Lardy

Walker and 2X 3rd place Weber scoreless thru 1, trade escapes, head to OT. Now a 5th period. Once again Walker is so tough to score on. On to a 6th....Walker impressively wins in ultimate tiebreaker by riding him out for 30 secs

Langenderfer pretty tough on his feet. Farrell stuffs a couple of shots before the IL 2X champ gets a TD. 2-0 to start 2nd. LangenD down and out quickly to start 2nd. Wow, didn't even see what it was, but LangenD pins Farrell. IL kid is a bigtime talent. Looks like the pins are going to make this dual swing IL's way.

Bradley and former state champ Culton scoreless in 2nd, esc Culton, lead 1-0 to start 3rd. Bradley down and quickly out, then gets a TD to lead 3-1, less than a minute left.  Bradley briefly turks Culton's leg, riding hard...20 secs left...beats the IL state champ 3-2

State champ vs state champ. McClurg looking comfortable, no score thru 1. McC down to start 2nd. Esc 1-0....mcC very nicely countering and stalemating...nice rubber leg, finally Brucki gets a TD, then follows it up with some backs, leads 5-1. Optional restart, 6-1 Brucki leads to start 3rd. Delay in 3rd while they figure out score. Mcclurg and brucki are chatting and laughing. Apparently there was a penalty point somewhere along the way against mcc, as brucki leads 7-1. Another brucki TD, starting to get away from Riley. A tilt by brucki, now 12-1...i think they are closer than this match shows...12-2 final

Rollins really put it to Maldonado, getting a 1st period fall.

Lefever accidentally pokes Holler in the eye in their first tie-up. On paper, Holler is a big favorite. In reality, Lefever with the first TD and nearly gets backs. Riley looks much bigger. Reversal by holler, a 4x placer and current IL state champ. Esc riley, leads 3-2. Td with seconds left gives Holler 4-3 lead, Holler not a big, strong looking kid, but quite a technician, outlasts Lefever 9-4

Reed scoreless thru 1. IL's Liaromatis w several Tds and wins 7-2

Sorry, phone pooped out. Hurford and Sliga looked outstanding and Boehm and Garland both beat very tough opponents in clutch fashion to pull out a team victory in the A level dual. So, we split with some loaded Illinois teams. Truly outstanding for Indiana were Crume, Hurford, Sliga, Baysinger, Bradley and Boehm. Some great wrestling and nothing too shocking against Indiana.

This was my first time ever attending the IN v IL dual.  I have to say that it was very fun and exciting.  The wrestling was laid back and relaxed, but it seemed as the dual went n and as each match progressed, that you could see the intensity pick up in the wrestlers.  It was a very fun and unique experience.

Just trying to figure out the score for large school division.  From the looks of it, thru 170, the score was 31-9, Illinois, is this accurate?  182 and 195 went to Indiana, what were those scores (any bonus pts?) as well as what happened at 220 and 285?

Scores were-    A Indiana 28/Illinois 23

                      AA Indiana 15/Illinois 37

You can see a replay at-  http://www.playonsports.com/channels/illinois-matmen/events/56955

Thanks Jimtown.  So, for large school, I have it 9 matches to 5 for Illinois, Indiana winning 106, 126, 145, 182 and 195, all decisions.  Indiana gave up pins at 113, 132 and 152 and a major at 160.  Sound accurate?

I may have it confused but with Illinois recent three class system, my understanding is that  the the large school division from Illinois takes on Indiana's top senior state placer.  And Illinois mix of middle and small school divisions takes on Indiana's next best senior state placer.

The Illinois announcers on the webcast said that the Illinois teams are put together more by where the best fit is instead of going by a given classed arrangement to match up with our guys.  From what they showed, they seemed to put their best 2A and 3A guys against our champs and highest placers and trickled some 2A's to go with the 1A's against our second team.
