Not about class wrestling

Because it seems like 4 out of 5 topics on this board turn into a discussion about class wrestling, I wanted to make a topic that wasn't about it.  This is the anything but class wrestling topic.  Feel free to talk about shaved ice, your dark horse pick at state, your favorite singlet  (Anderson Highland finals), or ask questions to TAE about things that happened over 100 years ago but do not discuss class wrestling.

I'll start; after watching much of the College Wrestling on the BTN, I have noticed that many of the men wrestling from Indiana have a tough time wrestling on the mat.  Do you think this is a product of the cut and takedown method used to score high team points?  Is this something we should try to avoid doing in the future so our wrestlers are better able to handle the next level?

Feel free to answer this or really say anything you want about anything other than class wrestling.

Disclamer: Anyone talking about class wrestling on this thread will be boo'd.

Indiana and other middle-tier wrestling states' wrestlers do struggle in par terre compared with young wrestlers from the power states. It's mostly a case of not having to develop those skills at an elite level while competing in Indiana. Our very best wrestlers dominate their in-state opponents and are only tested a relatively low number of times per season. Compare that with a state like Pennsylvania, where even the best wrestlers are tested week in and out and cannot afford to have any weaknesses on the mat. In Indiana, it's not emphasized to the same degree that wrestling in neutral is. Of course, there are exceptions to this (Howe and Escobedo are good examples).

Not necessarily anyone specific, I just noticed that many of our guys have a tough time both holding people down and escaping from the bottom position.

I think Dingo provided a good explanation about the parity of the sport within our state and maybe the answer is to wrestle more with some of our neighbors (Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan) so that the competition level increases.  Not sure how realistic that is on the HS team level but could be done by some individuals in the offseason.

Not much of a Doritos fan, I prefer Jalapeno Cheddar Cheetos. They are addictive. Only drawback, they turn your computer key board orange.

Doritios are much better than cheetos.  The texture of cheetos (especially the puffy ones) weirds me out.

I am not a fan of the puffy ones either. I prefer the crunchy type.

Flamin Hot Cheetos are way better than the puffs.  I wonder if the staff at "R" Place near M'ville is going to be ready for the "lunch" crowd during the break?  Its a nice place with decent food, but usually we are in a hurry and can't afford any wasted minutes. Anyone else going there for "lunch" after the quarters ?

Speaking of M'Vill SS, which match is everyone looking forward to the most?

Personally for me it is Harper v. Porras

Should be a tough one for both.  I know Harper has been banged up but Frank will have to bring his A game if he wants to win.  I think both will wrestle their hearts out and this will be a great match.

What I really want is a "Hayes Special pizza" from Arts Pizza in Anderson. or one of their fabulous roast beef sandwiches with a slice of green peper on top. They are so messy you need about 20 napkins to get through one, and your hands are still a mess.

The Jalepeno Cheddar Cheetos are my chip kryptonite.

I can go weeks without any chips and then my gaze strays over towards them as I walk past at the grocery.

Absolutely love them .........and you can't stop with just one.
