The signal the ref made ON THE MAT was flagrant misconduct. He was disqualified due to the actions ON THE MAT.

Thanks for the clarification.  I didn't know that would erase you from the whole tournament.  You can't tell from the video what was said or what may have happened during the match, so it's hard to judge without full context.

Thought the radio said Harper had won 2-0 and then they were at each other  or at least the New Haven wrestler was irritated.

Dane mentioned someone needed to separate them in the tunnel before things got really heated.

Harper finished off the match on the mat with double boots in.  After the whistle, Harper rolled off him and as Elkins   got up he stepped over Harper and there was a little bravado, but nothing big.  As they stood to shake hands, Elkins said something and they ended up nose to nose very briefly.  They were separated quickly and Elkins was hit with a flagrant misconduct, deducting 3 team points.  What happened after that was not on that camera.  I doubt what happened on the mat led to a full DQ, but probably led to it as mentioned.

Pretty sure the misconduct was called on the mat after match was concluded. He was initially the winner till the incident.

We got that now.  I was referring to the initial post in the thread which gave no specific info.

Oh take your time IHSAA.  Nothing important occuring like say kids earning state medals for their entire season of hard work. How did they get the first two rounds of streaming off well, but mucked this one up when nothing really have changed with the process?

From what I can tell, it appears their video is going thru Hudl.  Seems that's where the anger should be directed.  As far as money goes, that's another story.

Will the parade of Champions be broadcast with the streaming purchase?

I can only go by past years, but the simple answer is no.  Once the mat cameras go live, you can typically see the kids walking around and hear the PA in the background, but just from mat side cameras.  There is no production or broadcast of it as an event, per se.

That said, I hope I'm wrong and they've changed things up a bit.  But that's how it has been.

  6. Well said.  I was confident you would share the details and in a way to not throw the referee under the bus (not saying I think you believed anything different than what you said). I knew you'd handle it with class, yet be straight.

I agree the match ended with the proper result, and appreciate how it was handled.  Happy to hear Preston is on the road to recovery.

I will say I think the comment about him walking around was initially misconstrued.  I believe he said he was standing and talking.  On camera it did appear as he was standing, but couldn't tell if it was on his own or with help.  And not serious could simply mean something dire such as paralysis seemed to be avoided at that point.  I don't think there was any negative intent with the comment.

The bottom line is kudos to how it was handled and hopefully there is a quick recovery. Good luck at State.

  7. For those at the Ford Center, operating staff and IHSAA, I encourage you to watch some of today's matches, especially Mat 2 during the finals. The glare from the lights on the mat is so bad you can barely see half the mat and seeing any detail on anything not on the side nearest the camera is next to impossible. It has been a problem all day.

I really hope they address that next weekend.  The video experience today at Evansville has been less than stellar.

So the answer is, “no” you don’t KNOW for sure. That was my comment prior to your first response.

If you know something to the contrary, state it.  If not, shut up.  The score wasn't changed, the kid was hurt, BB did the right thing and no one disrespected Henderson.  Not sure what your point is other than to see your own words.  None of what you are trying to say has ANY importance.

The call should’ve been, and could’ve been, reversed by the asst ref, which may very well have been what happened. Do you know whether or not that was the case?

Could, should and maybe don't change facts.  No one knows what may have happened if BB took a different stance.  But none of that was necessary.  Not sure why you are so hurt about it.  Henderson moved on and right now the most important thing is that Preston Haines recovers fully.  Not a single person has disrespected Ty Henderson. Perspective is important. Perhaps trying to change the angle of your view to get the correct one?
