Thanks Joe for this article! I'd been involved with the Brownsburg Wrestling Club since my son was a preschooler and he's now in his senior year. Coach Snyder coming to Brownsburg has been instrumental to keeping the talent at home (Mulkey/Lee). He's a big reason why Lee, Mulkey, Miller, Ison and Jones have stayed through HS in the community they started school in...
 
The superintendant of schools attends home meets and conference, sectionals, regionals, semi state and state - that's a testament to his support of Snyder and the program!

That’s pretty accurate. Additionally, it would be pretty intimidating opening postseason with a tournament that large. 

I'm worried that if we go with the super sectional idea the ihsaa would choose to do it with out wrestle offs to avoid running it 2 days. This would hurt the sport of wrestling in Indiana. I feel sectionals should stay as is and make changes to regionals and semi-state. The only change to state would be increasing state to 24 qualifiers if needed. As I said in my earlier post we need to recognize that the ihsaa will avoid wrestle backs if needed.

I'm not galagore, but I'm guessing he's in part referring to the fact that 95% of 1A kids would have a one-weekend postseason. It's hard to get excited about a sport when no one on your team can get past sectional.

Unless the nba all star game features Jordan, Bird, Magic, Shaq, Dominique, Barkley, i don't want to see it.......cancel the game.

Hey, as a former Brownsburg wrestling parent, I know these boys. For an adult to take the time to come in this forum and make a snide remark about two 8th graders is inappropriate and classless. Who are you, buddy???

IndianaWrestlingGuy is Ryan Hasbrook from Cathedral.  He is obsessed with Brownsburg Wrestlers.  They find him hilarious, but also say his focus on them as high school athletes makes them uncomfortable.

I agree for sure that the best way is a regional level qualifying tournament. I'd be the first to sign up to help us transition to something like that. 
 
With that said, assertions that we're getting the teams wrong have to be backed up with more data than "they have more over there." In the same way that Eville has an abundance of good big-school teams that no one can deny deserve their spots (while FW gets none), there's a lot of performance data backing up the fact that there's a small-school hotbed in the northeast with its epicenter at Decatur.
 
Your semi-state has exactly 25% of the 1A schools getting classified this year. Coincidentally, you've had exactly 25% of the 1A team state participants over the last 5 years (15 of 60).
 
In that time, those 15 schools have placed 9th of 12 on average.
 
Again, I'm not against your thoughts at all. But with our limited current system, it's working much better than some might think.

Bellmont or Crown Point is my guess

Just want to be clear because I had a few coaching friends reach out to me.  I did NOT intend my post to mean the straps down call cost us the meet. All I was trying to say was it was the right call.  Crown Point also lost a team point. We were celebrating and I wasn’t watching.  I was told whatever was called didn’t happen the way it was interpreted.  Brownsburg and Crown Point have a great relationship.  I hate them some because of how good they are but have nothing but love and respect for them.  Our wrestlers and coaches are really close.  They won the dual because they EARNED it.  
 
Also, Mendez should focus on his college career and skip the rest of the season.  I just want what is best for him!

Congrats to Crown Point.  Also, congrats to Indiana wrestling.  I’m proud that years ago we came together and made this event happen.  What a day of wrestling.  
 
Huge shot out to Zeke Seltzer for bumping up to take on Mendez.  That alone made the entire event worthwhile. 
 
Lastly, it sucks but we did take our strap down and that’s a team point.   It was the correct call.

Andy King and myself are doing some incredible things. It isn't going unnoticed around our area in the North. Had it not been for quarantine issues a year ago, my team wouldn't be in this position. My team would have a much different look.
 
Don't bash the kids out there competing. We can only control what is put in front of us. Not making any excuses but to accomplish what we have at Bremen is impressive stuff.

One of Brownsburg's goals every year is to win dual state.  We will either be the best team there or we won't.  If we don't win, we could not possibly care less if we get 2nd or 8th.  It makes no difference. 
 
One of the years we won, we were the 4 seed...another year, we won we were absolutely roasted on here for being an "overrated" 2 seed.  Think the other two years we have won we were the 1 seed.  I never once got on here and complained when we were seeded 4th or the year we were 2nd.  Everyone that qualified has a chance to win.
 
We see Crown Point among some other pretty decent teams this weekend.  Is our goal to win this weekend?  Yes, why wouldn't it be?  Crown Point is freaking loaded just like Mater Dei.  We aren't guaranteeing anything.  Look at the freaking dudes going that tournament Saturday.  We are going to show up and wrestle as hard as we can to win the tournament, but we understand how good a lot of those other teams are.  We make a couple mistakes and Coach Ayersman will have a 3rd place plaque or whatever to use to make a new award.

Beat Rensselaer last year. Not last two years. Don’t go 1 for 11 at Regionals. 
 
You beat Rensselaer without their State Qualifier and a Regional Qualifier who majored your kid in Sectionals. 22 Point Swing. Believe we lost that dual by less than 10.
