Give me 14 Noah Warren's and you take 14 guys with the last name Lee and I will take my chances any day. Not taking anything away from Joe one heck of a performance but Noah has tremendous upside and is a even better young man.
Joe is also one heck of a young man. Role model material, that kid is all heart, determination, and class.

That match was awesome! Thanks for giving the fans a great match - so fun and exciting!!!

i owe everyone on this message board an apology. I looked selfish and ungrateful last night. Being frustrated is no reason to act the way I did. I apologize and appreciate the support through out my careere. Thank you
Class act. Congrats Shawn and good luck at Purdue!

I'm not sure who or what you are disagreeing with, but yes anyone who was paying attention could see the frustration. And I do not condemn Streck for letting his emotions get the best of him - it's human nature. I also want to be clear that I don't disagree with the thought that Streck has a tremendous work ethic. I would think he has to given all he has accomplished.
What I disagree with is the thought that his actions after the match were a display of that work ethic. What I saw was a display of anger & poor sportsmanship. And I also believe his own coach agrees. That is why what should have been a great & happy moment between the two at the end of an amazing wrestler's HS career became something else. It became a moment when the coach had to remind his wrestler to act with dignity. I was just very grateful that the coach recognized & acted accordingly.
When I said that, it was in the spirit of the idea that what I saw was a frustrated young man, who has spent years watching this board wish to see Streck "maul" somebody, upset because he didn't end his high school career with the dominance we've come to expect from him (and I suspect he's come to demand from himself). I take nothing away from Samuels - it was a heck of a match - Streck could have handled his emotions better, but when he said "Not good enough." - he was clearly talking about himself and his mistakes...a funny little dig on Purdue's football team (they need all the help they can get)...

Thanks for the info. It's pretty darn cool when it happens!

Question: Asa didn't win Sectional, Regional, or Semi-State. Is he the only State Champ this year to not be Sectional, Regional, or Semi-State champ? How many times has this happened over the years?
-
No problem!! You've reminded me of me this year. (Except I'm a lot louder) it's been fun to be a part of the#younggunz run. mat chick are you the lady that does the announcing at the Holiday Classic?
I am not - but I know that wonderful lady very well!!

I liked him from the start. It was exciting to see him get the win and for Evansville Semi State to claim the first champ of the night! Looking forward to watching your high school wrestling journey!

One of my last impressions was from Streck's interview - "not good enough." He'd just won a state championship and he was already dissecting his failures in the match. Purdue is lucky to be getting him - their football team might make a run with that kind of work ethic in the locker room

I've been around this sport for a long time and I've never seen Banker's Life have that kind of atmosphere - it was just awesome to be a part of it. I was "Team Lee" before the match and despite the outcome, I'm still "Team Lee" - he's an outstanding technical wrestler and is just pure class. He now has 2 losses - Micic & Red - the simple fact that he could walk into the room and choose what weight he wants to wrestle and those are where he chose to go says all that needs to be said about Nick Lee - he knew the risks and rewards and he chose to go after it - I'd take that kind of fight in the wrestling room every time. This fine young man will continue to do great things - us fans are the lucky ones along for the ride.
Chad Red has been wowing us for four years - again - us fans were the lucky ones. I've been lucky enough to witness the careers of 5 out of 9 4xers - becoming a 4 x state champion is not a fluke - you earn that one match at a time. Congrats to Chad Red - you've joined an elite list. Good luck in your NCAA wrestling career.
Am I the only one already planning my trip to the Big10 Championships for a rematch?!?

Great job girls! Way to represent!

Lee out by end of week and Embry in! Write it down! Smoke and mirrors.
I don't see this happening. The Lees & MD just aren't into playing games - I'd be very surprised if this prediction came true. Let's just all hope the heavens align and we finally get to see this match happen!

I learned a long time ago in wrestling to expect the unexpected, never underestimate anyone, and to never tug on Superman's cape (sheer determination has pulled out more than one win over the years). I think all of Indiana shouted a collective "Woohoo!" when these brackets were released. Both are great wrestlers and this match will be worth the price of admission - and I have no doubt it will happen. I love to watch Red wrestle too, but I gotta be Team Lee!
-
I have been so impressed with this young man. When he walked out on the mats all taped up and the big brace on his knee, all I could think was, he is a gladiator. So so tough - reminds me of why I love this sport. He may not have been on the top of the podium - but this young man has the heart of a champion.

I can save you some time and $$ for this weekend and tell you how your MD boys will finish now if ya want.... Lugis-5th/Egli-loses FridayNight/Johnson-loses FridayNight/N.Lee-Champ/J.Lee-3rd/Jourdan-7th
I'll take my chances with my boys...
-
Ditto - Good Luck to all the Evansville Semi-State wrestlers -especially those from the Castle Regional!!! Special shout out to my MD boys Luigs, Egli, Johnson, N. Lee, J. Lee, and Jourdan!!! Let's get it done boys - show them what the South can do!!!
-
Speaking of intros? Anyone know how Garrison Lee's intro got so messed up? He was standing under the lights, but they were reading the bio of Christian Redmond from Jennings County (who was going for 3rd)...

This angers me beyond belief. Yes, knowing the draw before you wrestle most certainly can change the way someone wrestles. In a sport that is based on never quitting, going until you break or you've broken your opponent, fighting for that #1 seed because you've earned the right for that ranking/draw, the fact that anyone was "advertising the draws for coaches to pick up" in the hopes of promoting what I believe to be behavior completely opposed to the whole mentality of wrestling itself, really angers me.

I thought many of the refs at the Evansville semi-state seemed "lost" & unsure of the rules/what calls to make. I saw a lot of faces I didn't recognize, so I am guessing this was the first time at Semi-State for some of these guys.
Brownsburg! Wow - Impressed with these young studs & just as I was thinking to myself "what the heck happened at Brownsburg", I caught a glimpse of the coach and had my "aha" moment - with Schneider @ the helm this team will just continue to improve and impress.
Luigs held his own with Konrath & impressed the hell out of me - great top wrestler & he's just a sophomore!!!
Nick Lee proved that he should have been a "Ford Tough Lock" just like his brother Joe.... and Austin Bethel - well, he just showed Evansville what happens when you underestimate someone - and again - just a sophomore!!!! Bethel v B Lee was so exciting - I did feel a bit bad for B Lee, as someone earlier said, "the crowd went wild" - but everyone loves the underdog!!!!
AJ Dixon - nice surprise! Great showing from him @ semi-state and he had a great fan base!
Avon - had a great showing & rumor has it they have some incoming freshman studs, so I'm sure we will be seeing a lot of them in the coming years!
Johnson and Stevenson both defaulting in heated matches. My prayers for both of these seniors - want to see them both healthy & competing @ State!

Congrats Quinn! Good luck on this final leg of your high school wrestling journey!
