    Hated to see Corsaro not win one but in my opinion Vinny didn't do enough to win it. Heistand had some really nice shots and was at least as active as Corsaro. This pains me to say this but I think Yorktown out coached Cathedral. Vinny had been the aggressor all weekend but seemed to not be willing to let his offense loose....those lights get the nerves a rolling! Seemed to me the Cathedral Staff thought a couple matches were already won!

    I didn't see the above mentioned situation but would it surprise anyone he was arrogant and not a great sport when his Dad IMO has taken arrogance and living through your kid to the next level! I am sorry..get excited..enjoy your kids accomplishments, but when you start jumping around, dancing and then Brushing Your Lapels...after a match.... that is disrepecting the sport and the competition. I had always liked Chad Sr. ..but he has went to the dark side and if I were a New Pal fan I would be embarrassed. He has always been animated...now he is acting stupid! I am pretty sure the Red family thought they were walking straight through this group pinning them all but Glougouski gave him everything he wanted! On the bright side lots of great champs like Gelen that did show their opponents a lot of respect.

    Big Bob, I am pretty sure most of us on here are not delusional, we fully understand what is happening and we might even agree with the rules, but it doesn't keep us from rooting against teams that have transfers and rooting for a homegrown team like Franklin...not only because they are the best TEAM this year but also because the playing field is not even? Recruiting happens and you know it. I have seen it first hand and to see a school like Franklin win is a big deal because a lot of the recent champs were not homegrown! Every parent has the right to move their kid to the place that they feel is the best fit..for you it was Cathedral, for others it could be Perry, Crown Point, and who knows in the future who it could be, but I will guarantee you that even though Bob Hasseman would take a nice move in, he he isn't looking for them like Cathedral is! Just go through your roster and see what middle school they attended and yes you do have the family names like Cosaro etc. but pretty sure no history with a lot of others..Is this wrong ..no but I am pretty sure if you were on the other side you would have a very different view and understand some of the animosity. Go Grizzly Cubs!

    And I wonder why people say the Catholic Schools recruit and don't give me that crap they grew up in the CYO Leagues (Bailey-Stewart)... I just wonder if some of them will get there and realize the grass isn't that green at the Cathedral Irish!

    I thought they had said the State Finals would be shown on March 6th. Does anyone if this is the right date and what time and channel it is to be on in the Indianapolis area?

    Does anyone know for sure how IL picks their team? Does the 3A kid automatically get the first spot then the 2A or if there is a better 1A kid does he get to wrestle?

    Here is an email that our Ad got from the IHSAA. Nick, I didn?t have this handy Saturday night but thought I?d pass this along to you? In pinning all four of his state finals opponents at last weekend?s Individual Wrestling State Finals, Indian Creek?s 215 pound state champion Trey Reese became the first to do so since 1998. D.J. Radnovich of Gibson Southern pinned all four 215 pounders he faced that year. Others to accomplish that feat include: Ray Frankowski, Hammond (165, 175), 1936-38; Sam Lamb, Evansville Bosse (132), 1973 and; James Dickerson, New Castle (Hwt.), 1995. There may be others that have done so but these are the only ones we?ve been able to say for certain as individual match results aren?t readily available prior to the early 1980s.     Scotty's Friday night and they did a great job then Jillians in between sessions and service was horrible as usual. My wife had called the manager on Monday to warn them about the rush of people on saturday and they still were understaffed. We also did Hotbox pizza in the lobby of the University INN Saturday night with 2 state champs,good friends and relatives. I cant tell you how the pizza tasted, I was having too many refreshments!

    We did have a full squad this year but I agree with you a 100%, without a team state tourney they better come up with a better way of scoring than they do now for the Coaches Trophy.

    Ok..so there are no schools in the Indianapolis area that match Apple Valley's Academics? Or maybe none with a great wrestling program. I hate to think of my senior leaving for college let alone a 7th grader going away.

    Lets see 135 ..Past state Champ- Past Runner UP and the Only Super 32 winner ever from Indiana 189 - 3rd as soph..went Ot with state champ - undefeated and NO 1 all of last year until he hurt his knee. undefeated this year! I would say....even without the prayers there is a chance..Plus if the Heavy wrestles like he can....they could have 4!

    I have a hard time telling people what is right for their kids but we all know some parents go overboard. I have heard that a 7th grader from IN is currently going to Apple Valley and training while the parents live in Indiana. A Mom ran on the mat after an official this weekend at New Castle? Why have we became so infactuated with our kids being the best and what are we teaching our kids when we act like this? Y2 saying hire an academic counselor is right on. I have two kids that are scholarship athletes and they would have never gotten the money they did if not for good academics to go along with athletic talent. Very few kids are going to get an athletic scholarship, and one in wrestling is even less likely. People need to let their kids be kids and holding them back as late as the 8th grade for athletic purposes is going overboard(IMO). I currently have a 3rd grader that is the youngest in his class and unless the school came to me and said it would be in his best interest to be held back I would never consider it. Look at Mitch Sliga..a very young(15) Sophomore that is still competing at the highest level. Push them hard and give them all the chances you can afford but let them be well rounded kids!!!

    I think one of the things that makes teams like Bellmont and this sport special are the people like Mr. Friedt that stay around the program and volunteer so much time. Our prayers are with you.

    So what is his thinking and yours on this? The IHSAA rules on travel could be one reason we have more undefeated wrestlers.
