One has nothing to do with the other.
Yes we need to do something about getting out of danger by calling for injury time. But that has
nothing to do with adults booing a young man. In my openion, It should never happen for any reason.
Stay Classy Indiana

Nothing pissed me off more this weekend then hearing the crowd boo every time there
was injury time or any other little thing that they did not like. You should be ashamed
of yourself if you boo a young Man in High school. He is not out there for your enjoyment.
He is out there working his butt off to win the match. By this time of year. Almost everyone
of them are dealing with something, that most of you would call in sick and stay home for.
Stay Classy wresting fans.... Jchas out!

bellrs reacted to maligned in The best (inspirational) story of the state finals
A couple come to mind:
Hudkins rushing back from what probably should have been a season-ending hand injury, refusing to quit after hospitalization forced him out of the state finals last year. Comes in ranked #5 and wins the deepest weight in the state.
Stevenson of Franklin refusing to take the state finals off when he's got a banged up shoulder and a newly torn ACL. Even with a state championship already to his credit and such a small chance of success, he wrestles every single match with grit--even his wrestleback and placement matches that anyone with even a mosquito bite seems to default if they didn't reach the level they hoped.

Cash won. Definitely the better wrestler tonight. Great job. Interesting that Cash "caught" Lee, but Lee didn't "catch" James. Truth is.. All three are phenomenal wrestlers and deserved a state title today. Congrats to Cash, Lee, and James for tremendous seasons/careers!

Caught?? What was he running.... Wasn't it just a basic half that cash put Lee on his back with for the fall.

Well as a coach who was sitting next to that alternate when Bryce went out and defaulted it was kind of confusing and hard to take. It denied our kid the experience of coming down just to save someones draw. Well i am glad the other kids that were hurt and couldn't compete let their alternates wrestle. Just very disappointed.

bellrs reacted to jchas in Enjoy the Journey
If this is your first time or in my case the last time. Make sure you enjoy the ride.
What a absolute privilege it has been to go on this journey with my son.
There has been some incredible highs and some bitter disappointment. But
the journey has been awesome!
I can remember when his first goal was to get threw an open tournament without getting pinned.
His second match was against the ISWA champion. A girl named Kayla Miracle. Needless to say.
He lost. His second goal was to win half his matches. After that they just kept getting a little harder
and a little harder. It was a long journey to get to this point and It could not have had more fun.
In the end, there is only one guy who gets his hand raised. But if you
made it this far you are a Champion in my book.
Good luck to everyone this weekend. Hope you enjoy the ride!

bellrs reacted to Caleb Spires in State 4 over 1's and Death Draws
I think Rypel has been about as dominating this season as Lee and Red. His closest match was 11-3 bumping up 25 pounds against a semi-state champion. -
bellrs reacted to 800lbs Gorilla Mama in State 4 over 1's and Death Draws
Rypel is a lock. His closet match was 11-3 to Larson at Avon. He could not turn Larson but won every TD. Larson is just a Sophomore but never went to his back once all year. Larson had a 3-0 loss to Woods, 1-0 with 30 seconds left. Rypel is the number 1 lock of the Tournament.

I'd throw in Mr. Rypel too, he has had success from an early age at weights dominated by juniors and seniors. He also has some impressive national accolades.

Just wanted to take the time to say how proud I am of this group of wrestlers this year. Not only the success on the mat but off as well. It is a truly special set of eighth graders that I will be sad to see go. Very proud of you guys going 4 for 4 in the finals and even more proud of the compliments and praise I get from other schools athletic departments on your attitudes and sportsmanship. Keep up the good work!

bellrs reacted to QuinnHarris in Thank you
Now that my wrestling career at Avon High School is over I would like to thank all the coaches and people who have helped me become the wrestler and person I am today. Thanks to my high school coaches you guys are a second set of parents to me and helped me through my darkest days. To my teammates you guys stare my backbone and I wouldve never gotten as far as I did without you. And to all my other coaches that I have came to your club thank you for all of the knowledge you have given me to further my wrestling abilities. Finally to every person who I have even talked to at a wrestling tournament and has told me how I wrestled great or tried to help me back up when I was down thank you it really means a lot to know how sto eg of a wrestling family Indiana is as a whole. To all of you seniors wrestling this weekend go out there with no doubt in your mind that you will win don't hold yourself back.
