  1. My son knew that he had it great at Warren Central. I am not sure of the number since he graduated long enough ago that I am now very old. But they have a full wresting room with 3+ mats, its own temperature control, a locker room and an office. It was when he started to visit colleges that he saw how great it was in High school. I hope all of you get the rooms you need and deserve.

That one is out of my league as far as statistics. I am good at math, but statistics is the only math class I got a B in ever!

I do really well with stats.

    Thermostats, but still....

It's worth saying too..Red was wrestling at a very high level this weekend. He comes an eyelash from beating Rivera and would have been one of four left in a very wide open bottom half of the bracket. He very well could have ended his college career in the title match facing the same guy he faced finishing high school.

That would have been a huge hit on here had they managed to wrestle under the lights this year. Can you imagine the discussion that match would have generated?

As far as reaching his potential, he AA'd 3 times on the mat and was granted a 4th according to the NCAA. I am thrilled to call both him and his father as friends that I have made through wrestling.

  4. Anderson has fallen behind in this. I do not know why, but as mentioned, PHS has a club, as does Yorktown depending on what side of town you are on. Yorktown is not what it was, but it is still going to tournaments and working on your craft. I hope that you will stay in the AHS school system, we need someone to help build that up again.

I'm sure the General will assure all of you FTW guys that Veazy will get you three of them.  And he may be right for a change.

Had the pleasure of watching this kid this past weekend, He is a freak of nature. My son wrestled at WC with a kid Machael Johnson Jones, who was without question the most physical wrestler I had seen in person. This kid reminded me of him a lot. Quick, strong, and he has better technical skills.

The problem with mopping is that many of the solutions require the surface to remain wet for 10 minutes to be effective. Especially in the winter with the air so dry, that can be a challenge. Also, if any spots are missed they are not sanitized.

Trinedad: Because the light source is so close to the surface the required time is 4/10 of a second. Oakland University in Michigan did a study on the effectiveness of the UV-C light. I believe it is on our website. Our stand up room units do take considerably longer because of the distance.

I appreciate the input from you guys. I looked into the product and UV-C light use before agreeing to rep the company. The NCAA had their medical panel look at the product as well.

I figured there was a reason for that. In hvac, the air is moving at around 600-700 feet per minute, so the particle does not stay around very long. Thank you for the answer.

IHSAA doesn’t want schools to travel too far, miss too much school, or spend craft. money to much to compete nationally.  They believe their are enough good teams within the 300mile radius to not need to go beyond that.  And yes there are plenty of great teams within that distance to compete against.  However, the IHSAA never  took into account individual events where some teams that enter may travel from beyond that distance. I can live with a 300 mile limit for IN teams, but not when it’s enforced on other none IN teams.  It shouldn’t matter to IHSAA how far a out of state team has to travel to face a IN team.  If they want to make that sacrifice it’s on them and since their travel doesn’t affect our athletes it shouldn’t be an issue.

you be sure to let me know when the IHSAA makes a logical decision.

If I wished for anything it would be for more people outside of indiana to understand our tournament and how it works.

I'm not for class wrestling but I hate going to national events and hearing fans/coaches/flo talk about kids and how they didn't qualify for state... but yet they beat kids from other places that did.

    Now this is getting better.....

kids like Carroll, Mendez, Khawaja and a long list of others are starting to turn the tide.

Ps get rid of the ihsaa travel ban!

the 300 mile rule needs to go away. It is time to allow the best of Indiana to compete against the best from across the country. I do not know why it was put into place, but it needs to go away,  in all sports.

  9. I asked this question this weekend to a few people and got mixed results, mostly negative. I have been married for 35 years, so asking questions and getting negative results is not anything new to me.

What is they placed 6 mats on the floor at Gainbridge, and ran the boys and girls individual state at the same time? I realize that we had 2 girls this weekend and that would most likely not happen if they ran them at the same time. but would this help or hurt the girls tournament?

I want to first say thank you to @blueandgold for starting this thread.  I was not sure who you were but have been informed and I have huge amounts of respect for you young man so again thank you for the kind words about Logan.

To everyone else who has commented on here thank you also so very much.  I have been around wrestling for many many years as an athlete, coach, ISWA board member & parent.  I have gotten to know lots and lots of kids and families from all over the state thru the many many years

Thru all the years I have known this is a great sport that can have heartbreaking endings and results and equally great un-believable outcomes and accomplishments.

Logan has had a great career in the sport and has achieved things greater than I would have and could have expected for him.  The thing that makes me the happiest of all after everything he has gone thru (especially over the last two years) is how he carried himself after it all came to an end on Saturday.   Mom and I were completely devastated and honestly I could not think or rationalize what to do next, but seeing Logan stand up shake hands and then come back out and sit with his team was un-believable to me.  I talked to him a few times during the rest of the day and while I was teary he assured me he was OK and he was going to be fine just a little disappointed.

Now to address all the above comments (like I said I have made many friends along the way during my time in the sport) and I thank all of you for your kind words.  Most of you I do not know personally but please seek me out at some point at any ISWA event so I can fist bump you and thank you personally for acknowledging what I know already is that Logan is an awesome & kind young man.

To @Darrick Snyder @mikemorgan what a wild ride its been over 4 years from a state title to a heartbreaking loss and everything in between (thanks to Mike for coming in to help navigate this last run).  You guys have been awesome and amazing and I know I will be friends with you guys forever and love you both.  Thank you for everything.

Lastly to @tiger92 thank you for post and to be honest it does not surprise me that Logan found your son on social media some how and reached out to him to congratulate him and wish him good luck going forward.

Unfortunately for me I selected seats in the part of the arena that I had sat in the previous times I had been fortunate enough for Logan to be at Semi-state and did not want to break from tradition even though they were not in the "B-burg section".  This turned out to be right next to the Princeton fan section.  It was tough to be honest, but I did get to see what I think was mom and dad happy and elated for their son Jared Dunn thru the whole day.  To me that is what this sport is all about, as I was devastated they were elated and I honestly could not be mad about that.   I hope your son enjoys this experience and has the time of his life.  Its a great event being at the state finals and I know he will soak it all in and have great life experiences and take a ways.  I hope he makes a deep run and can achieve all he wants and dreams about.

To all other kids competing this weekend best of luck, stay safe & healthy and accomplish your dreams and enjoy the moments, soak it all in and never have regrets.

this shows what I said in my post, he was raised by parents who taught him the right way. Thank you for raising such a great kid.

  11. I would also add the push out rule. I know some dislike it, but it wuld keep the action more centered. And make it so that it is progressive. 1st - 3rd time 1 point, 4th time 2 points. It is so tiring to see these wrestlers jump to the out of bounds line and not doing anything. If you stand from the defensive position and the top wrestler runs you out, same rules for him.
