IU is on the upswing. Angel is a better coach, mentor, motivator, leader, etc. than Goldman ever was so it's trending in the right direction. Mendez could do things at IU that have never been done; the same can't be said for Iowa. Hopefully he sees that as a selling point, but I'll be a fan wherever he goes...in three years.

Agreed. His match awareness, wrestling IQ, and takedowns are uncanny for a freshman.

There are numerous factors that come in to play. The one I use most though is the dart board I have in my garage. I usually just put all the names of every wrestler I have in each weight on it and throw a handful of darts labeled 1-8. Whatever happens, happens.

Appreciate all the info and updated weights, keep them coming. Just a couple things, Brayden Littell wasn't an oversight I just didn't have any info on his weight and didn't want to totally guess. He'll most likely be in the next set. Also, from the next set forward there will 8 rankings per weight. The 6 was essentially just to get the ball rolling and to prompt people to get info in and to put something out with what info/previous knowledge I had. Again, thanks for any info that comes my way!

IU won't be the bottom feeder of the big 10 come a few years.. angel is doing in year 1 what Goldman couldn't do in 30 and that's get our studs.

It blows my mind that someone who wrestled for Gable in some of the pinnacle Iowa days could be so content with mediocrity. Especially given his own successes on the mat. I've heard rumblings that he essentially self sustains the program with donations. With the successes of soccer and swimming and the focus on basketball, Fred Glass really has no incentive to get him out of there. Seems like they are out of sight out of mind.

My favorite moment is what my avatar image is. The day David Taylor got STUCK by Bubba Jenkins in the finals. The reason this is my favorite wrestling moment is because how rudely Bubba was ousted by Cael and the incoming Taylor. He got his revenge back on the wrestler who took his spot and the coach who didn't believe in him. Poetic justice at its finest

One cool thing I learned this weekend. Both Geoffrey Davis and Sean Galligar didn't win a single match their freshman year! Davis was 3-22 Anna Galligar was 0-17 on jv!

Red has nothing to prove, you are right.

However when you accept an invitation to a prestigious event you make a commitment to also make the weight. The committee paid for his hotel, a FLIGHT, meals, event activities, and gear for him to wrestle. In total he probably received around $750 in perks to wrestle. Then when you show up 9lbs over weight and don't attempt to make it there is a big issue. To compound it we as a state were there and it made not only Red look bad, but our whole state. It was NOT a fun conversation with the committee, nor was it in my itinerary for the weekend. To put it rather bluntly it was an extremely embarrassing situation to be a part of and there is no other way to put it.

Be more respectful of the things you have and don't forget where you came from.  Many of you don't realize the growth of the ISWA folkstyle state.  It has grown from a small tournament in a sports complex in Bloomington to the Mellancamp facility (with two restrooms)  to a dungeon industrial warehouse with leaky port 'o pottys to Lawrence Central  (jeeze that was a nightmare made space in a crowded subway look comfortable)  to two different weekends at two different schools to what we have now.  What we have now is by far the best.

I only have one concern.  Using Warren Central is fantastic, plenty of space and bathrooms ect.  I'm worried that non respectful parents are going to ruin the ISWA's chance to continue to use the school.  Warren like most High schools is a tobacco free campus.  When I left on Saturday afternoon I noticed hundreds of cigarette butts laying on the ground outside the entrance.  It appears to me as if the staff and students take pride in their school.  If was the principal of Warren, that very well could be a deal breaker for me using my school.

The ISWA does not always please everyone, but with over 2100 athletes along with their coaches and fans getting in and out of that place like it was done this weekend is a small miracle.

So if we want to continue to keep using this facility, be respectful, pick up after yourself, dont scratch walls and break things, be careful and mindful that this public facility but the school corporation and administration staff has been kind enough to give the stamp of approval.  We are only there 2 days of the year the students are there for 180 and they obviously have a nice facility to be proud of.
