  1. POCKET does have wrestling but do not hand out a Outstanding wrestler awards at the conference tourney.
  2. Mater Dei won state from 95-03 and 06 and 07.
  3. I think that most kid get the chance to wrestle in dual tournaments in middle school on their middle school teams. Before the ISWA started having elementary duals the elementary school kids did not have a chance to wrestle in a dual tournament.
  4. The team and individual results are on trackwrestling for the schoolboy duals teams. What else is needed?
  5. It would be nice if more than just the last years state tournament results were online. There are several things that have not been updated this year. For example the Schoolboy National Duals results for 2009 have not been posted. That tournament was in June. This is now September. Three months is long enough to wait. Why is it not updated?
  6. This was posted on another thread by Cale A. Hoover HSWCA President and ISWA Junior Director . Make sure what ever you do is within the rules. "The open room policy was also discussed, and on Monday the IHSAA ruled on this policy. We were told that the IHSAA would be looking into open rooms very closely because they are concerned about undue influence. With Indiana?s decision to allow parents to choose the public school of their choice, the worry is recruiting will be an issue. I want to remind all of members and schools that open rooms are for students of your school only and are voluntary. You cannot invite kids from around the state to attend open rooms. If you want to kids from other schools you must be a USA Wrestling (ISWA) or HYWAY club and every kid there must be a member as well. If they are not you are in violation. ISWA sponsored RTC?s are within the spirit of the rule as long as all participants are USA Wrestling card holders. We were given some advice on this matter by the commissioners. Do not advertise on IHSWCA.com or Indianamat.com as having open rooms where others are invited. You need to come up with another name for the workout and make sure all participants are a club member (USA Wrestling or HYWAY). I ask you as the Junior Director for the ISWA that you do not call them RTC?s unless you are an ISWA recognized RTC."
  7. Infolady, when you live 3-4 hours away from Indianapolis I really do not think that it is out of line for the kid or parents to want to get the medal and start on the way home. It would be nice for the top 8 to all be there and get a picture on a podium but if you are the 5th - 8th placer and you are done wrestling on a Saturday but the top 4 have more wrestling to do on Sunday that family is going to have to pay for another hotel room or maybe a few rooms and eat out a few more times just for that picture. I know that it is a hassle sometimes for the people working the awards to go and get your medal before the weightclass is done but that two minutes of effort on their part can save a family $200 or more.
  8. macdaddy, that looks good at first but there are reasons why it would not work. As a state I believe we send three wrestlers per weightclass. What if you had a kid that placed at IHSAA state that did not wrestle at freestyle state. What do you do if the guys that wrestled a freestyle state and placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd all want to go to nationals? Do you tell the 3rd place kid at freestyle state that he is replaced by a guy who placed at IHSAA state? What if the 3rd place kid has wrestled and beat the other kid in the local freestyle tournaments five or six times in a row? What if that IHSAA placer wrestled 103lbs at IHSAA state but now wants to go to nationals at 135lbs?
  9. "State Finals Facilities?" This is a big reason why the state freestyle season is when it is. The state 4H fairgrounds booked all year. The ISWA has only one weekend they can get the fairgrounds to host the freestyle state tournament.
  10. I don't know if that wrestler would be able to get a waiver or not. You can weigh in with a cast on.
  11. A wrestler does have to have the six qualified weigh-ins before the sectional seeding meeting. However in the case of a wrestler that come out late it was possible to get a waiver from the IHSAA. See the rule below from the IHSAA winter bulletin. IX ELIGIBILITY OF PARTICIPANTS A. Prior to the sectional seeding meeting each contestant shall meet the following special eligibility requirements: 1. To enter in his/her weight class he/she must have achieved a minimum of 6 qualified weigh-ins throughout the regular season as prescribed in the 2008-09 Weigh-In Regulations that can be found at www.ihsaa.org or www.ihsaa.net. NOTE: A weigh-in at a multiple dual or tournament shall be counted as 1 weigh-in of the required six even if the tournament contains more than 1 day of wrestling. 2. The above requirements shall not be reduced without expressed written consent of the IHSAA. If a wrestler came out at such a time that left only four or five qualified weigh-ins I think the IHSAA would have given the expressed written consent. I have never had to ask for that consent but the chance was there to get it if you needed it. bbulldog152, in you example of the JV 171 moving up to 189 for the sectional he would have been ok on the 25% rule if he had wrestled a full JV schedule. The rule does not say the wrestle must wrestle varsity for 25% of your schedule, just 25% of the authorized season contests. The authorized number of contests is eighteen dual meets in addition to the state tournament series; or b. Additional tournaments may be scheduled up to a maximum of seven provided each tournament. If your JV 171 had wrestled in five duel meets or one duel meet and two tournaments or three duel meets and one tournament at the JV level he would be ok to wrestle at the sectional under the new rule.
  12. One example of who this would cover would be if your team is in a sectional that has less than six teams with a 103lbs wrestler. If you did not have a 103 and you know that there are less than six teams in your sectional with a 103 you could get a kid to come out for the team to just wrestle at the sectional. He could get beat two times but would get forfeits and place at the sectional and score at least six team points. At the Southridge sectional this year there were only two 103lbs wrestlers. A team could have a wrestler come out for the team two weeks before sectionals, get his/her ten practices in, and wrestler his/her first match ever at the sectional. That wrestler could have won by forfeit, lost two the 2nd seed, won by forfeit, and won by forfeit to place 3rd and score 20 team points.
  13. TripleB posted the rumor about the 25% varsity participation rule. This is not what the IHSAA rule (which is also posted in this thread) says. The IHSAA rule says they must participate in 25% of the authorized season contests in that sport. The IHSAA does not care if it is varsity or JV or freshman matches. They count the JV and freshman meets against your total allowed for the season.
  14. The results are now posted at the track wrestling website.
  15. What sectional was New Harmony assigned to? They do not have a wrestling team and as far as I know they have never had a wrestling team.
  16. You have at least one school listed that does not have a wrestling team.
  17. 1 point for a dual that involves only two teams. 2 points for anything that involves 3 or more teams. That is all. No 3 points for anything.
  18. that is kind of how i saw it too. Go back and look at the vedio of the end of the match. There was no time left on the clock when he started to do his flip.
  19. Go to https://www.ihsaa.net/Commerce.Web/catalog/38515a0c-8439-4df1-a3d6-938e802d5383.aspx and look at the bottom of the page for the 2009 team state DVD. Cost $40.00 and may take up to one month to ship.
  20. The scoring system used at tournaments is set up to account somewhat for the byes that may be on the bracket. For example: At the Southridge sectional this year the 152lb champion had a first round bye, won by pin in the 2nd round, won bye pin in the 3rd round, and won by decision in the championship. He scored 26 team points. The 2nd place wrestler in this weight had a first round forfeit, won by forfeit in the 2nd round, won by tech. fall in the 3rd round and lost in the championship match. He scored 23.5 team points. If you scored the match points the same as you would in a dual match the champion would have scored 34 team points and the 2nd place wrestler would have scored 35 team points.
  21. On the home page of this website there were seven people's picks listed for each weightclass. Four out of the seven picked White to be in the final.
  22. Where do people shell out 50 to 70 dollars to watch their kid participate in a high school event?
  23. Usually between 550 to 600 students.
  24. The top three 152lbers from the Castle sectional also placed top three at the Evansville semistate.
