  1. Would love to see the first girl with a medal at state.
  2. We used to have that at the Rochester regional before realignment. Consistantly 75% ss qualifiers came from the Mishawaka sectional.
  3. 351 pts. away from mine. I need to pay more attention to my day job. I just can't focus on it when I have more important things like my next rank.
  4. They slipped and fell on the ground and were just helping each other up.
  5. One of the major reasons that we love this sport is because it is a combination of physical, mental, and emotional. Wrestlers will, a lot of times, reflect their coaches. As has been said above. Coach it in them all of the time and consistently. Remind them that when they are wearing that singlet it is just them representing their school, coaches, team. There aren't other players representing at that particular moment. How they act, and react, is a reflection on all of them. That is the view that everyone is getting of your entire school at that particular moment.
  6. Agreed. To many times the refs decide these matches. Most are really good, but there are certain refs that have to make sure everyone notices them. The best are the ones that you don't realize are there. They let the wrestlers decide the match.
  7. The officials are assigned. In the state tournament the school AD's have no decision on these issues.
  8. Early 80' we were top 2 out of sectional. My senior year they finally took 3 out of regional and semi-state.
  9. That should be an early day. If I counted correctly there are 63 forfeits and 77 total wrestlers at the sectional. An average of 5.5 wrestlers per weight class.
  10. Excellent. Much more detailed version of what I said. I forget sometimes that not everyone has had the pleasure of experiencing this.
  11. Coaches get in a room and hammer it out. Fun times had by all!!
  12. You and me both. Watched my first state finals there when I was in 7th grade. Haven't missed one since. Including last year.
  13. Are we just listing schools that wrestled?
  14. I've said it before. Robert Faulkens is a big supporter of Indiana wrestling. He is proud of what we do.
  15. I would love to comment, but in this day and age of PC and being afraid to really speak freely, I won't
  16. This and when Lee put Red on his back are two of my favorite moments in over 35 years of going to the state finals. Both left a full fieldhouse almost dead quiet.
  17. Great moment for both wrestlers, teams and wresting fans!!!
  18. Love the spreadsheet. Appreciate the effort put out. Now I have to drag myself off of this screen and back to my "real" job.
  19. Unfortunately, this seems to be one of the very rare times that this site is being used incorrectly. I don't see anyone using this to make fun of kids. I think if you do, you just don't really understand the wrestling community.
  20. Most of the other sports are one and done. Some great wrestlers have lost in early rounds and gone on to use that as a learning experience in both wrestling and life.
