As we just completed the first month of competition: It's been dry fellas.  I can't jump on anyone unless they say something controversial or diss Snider.  The dumb stuff I've been letting slide by(see what i did?).

I mean Garcia, Brewski, @FCFIGHTER170I mean what's poppin'? Where's the @regionrat1 at?. @Caleb Spires has been on the money I can't complain. @ontherise219 ranked the most kids from Snider than I can recall. What can I complain about? The Al is still 2 plus weeks away. I'm bored.  I'd even take one of @ReformedPoster's ridiculously asinine takes at this point.

    Snider sucks!

Glad you don't charge me rent in that head of yours

That's pretty mater dei sided prediction. My boys from the county pull it out, to many Rouixs to not win

Well, if both rioux's win then that swings it in Avon's favor.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a split or a sweep either way between the Rioux's and the Schaefer's

  3. Looks like Mendez will be up at 141 this season.  Flo has him ranked #3 preseason.  How does everybody think he will transition from 133 to 141?  We all saw Micic struggle making the jump.  I think Mendez is easily top 4 at the weight.  How does he stack up against a guy like Real Woods?

Last year doesn’t count. I hear Early got bitten by a radioactive spider.  Either way you try and slice it your guy lost Big E won.  And the rest is history witcho.  “ if coach gave me the ball we would’ve won states” lookin’ azz bwoy.

Terry wasn't my guy.  Just the guy who I though would win in '91.  No biggie.

I heard Early was sick that day...... The games we can play.....  It's the past and it really doesn't matter except to us old losers that like to talk nothing but wrestling. Both were great wrestlers and I don't know about Terry now but I know Early is a great coach and still giving back to the sport.

    Agreed.  It's a fun debate.

No one was beating Eric Early that year.

Maybe not, but you must have forgotten that Terry stomped him in the semis in '90, by a major I believe.  So a healthy Terry would have been the big favorite in '91.  But hats off to Early, he was the champ in '91.

Potentially yes, that means the better guy that day won. What is wrong with that? Two kids competing against each other to determine the winner at the sectional is better than coach making the decision in my opinion. But after sectional, teammates would not meet in an elimination match during the state tournament.

That's what wrestle offs are for.  The kids determine who is in the line up and who isn't.

Sure they could.  They could finish 2nd and 3rd at regional and be in the same half of the bracket at semi state.  If they both win their first match, they meet in the ticket round.

Yeah that’s what we’ve heard for 31 years.  The record books says Talamantes State Champion.  Can’t take it away.  He not only won but helped coach his brother to two state titles and a runner up.  Yeah he was fortunate to have people like Big Tino Talamentes and Coach Swartzkoft in his corner.  If if was a fifth we all would be messed up.

not taking anything away from him.  He could only wrestle who was in front of him and he earned it.  However, when the defending state champ and best wrestler in the state is missing due to injury, it makes the bracket weaker.  I would have loved to see that match play out.  I have my opinion and you have yours, but we'll never know.

Rico Talamentes won regional in 1991 the year before his title. Jon Henderson of Snider was the only non-regional winner from a different regional to get through to state; so unless there was a weight or injury issue, that's who beat him at semi-state.

(I feel like it's not uncommon at 160+ that guys make huge 1-year jumps in strength and athleticism, and therefore in performance, in any of the 4 years. So with Rico and Roger Blanton and other bigger guys on this list, I'm guessing they just got beat the years before--and then grew into men and won a title.)

Talamantes is fortunate that McCubbins got injured and wasn't able to wrestle.  Nobody was going to beat him in '92.

So is anyone sure that he goes back to the rodents.  Is he a grad student? Does he have degrees, profession, in mind? Iu has a great business mBA program. sPEA program is top notch in the country. I have a daylight basement with all the amenities if he were o choose to help Angel out this year.

I know you are joking, but IU can't even get our elite HS guys to go there, let alone the best hvy in the world

Yes, you have to like Hendrickson but I was hoping to see Davison make the necessary improvements to get it done.

Back-to-Back HWT NCAA Champs from Indiana would be nice. Gable will make that extremely improbable if he indeed returns next season, unless of course you count Gable as an Indiana wrestler. And if you do then it has already happened.

I believe he was referring to Davison. If you’re counting Gable in the IN category it would actually be Back to Back to Back to possibly Back again if Davison did win.

I was referring to the statement in bold above

Gable doesn't even count himself as an Indiana wrestler, so we shouldn't claim him.
