Being an MD fan, I do think BB will be the team to beat this year. Just looking at the lineups, BB has a STUD in almost every weight class. MD still returns 2 state champs, but if MD would want a chance at the Team/Individual state title, bonus points are a MUST. Cats need to go for pins, not just the win.

Definitely not you. MD is notorious for tough draws. But, tough draws come with great matches! I am not surprised about the 138 draw though, possible Mendez vs Boarman semi final will bring fireworks!

Good point SWIN, Newman definitely got a better draw as a 2 than Hayhurst as a 1. Sollars also got a tough draw at 182 as a 1 seed for the Cats. Going to be a lot of fireworks this weekend!

From what I was told, Reitz (typical host for the tournament) lost the bid to get SS at the ford center. Hopefully it comes back next year, and COVID gets the hell out of dodge... very similar atmosphere to the saturday night at bankers life.

Great post, Hook. I see MD running away with this one, but definitely see some surprises in some of the weights that MD is not as strong at. I bet Clay Martin at 195 for MD will open some eyes, as an undefeated Sophomore. Got a tough draw with Hankins from North and potentially Willman from NP in the semis.
