If this wrestling gig doesn't pan out, you could work for a Toledo TV station 😆

That's awesome! It has the formulas in cells so that you could replicate it for your own use in the future. I love pick'em and bracket games. This may be the ticket I was looking for to create a wrestling bracket, like I do for college hoops and hockey. Thank you and to whoever created this awesome spreadsheet!

Add another weight class between 220 and HWT to give 15 classes so that "normally" number of matches won would be the only tiebreaker needed. Make HWT just be 290 with no allowances and have the added class be 255.

They probably cut across to 69 instead of going down 65 because someone here told the NE contingent to drive 65 instead of 69. Psychology got the best of the northern half last weekend.

Remember also that the area has many 1A and 2A schools with 3 sport athletes. I'll take team success over individual. If individual happens that's even better. Don't forget our Adams County and surrounding areas are rural farming communities. Hay and straw have to be baled and livestock tended. Plus we also have a ton of residents who only go to 8th grade and don't go to our schools.

The "pinned" wrestler ended up on top so it was super fast. May not be a thing but doesn't mean it wasn't called incorrectly then.

You mean the IHSAA hasn't tried to ask for more $ by using StubHub to make you pay for certain seats yet? It's only a matter of time then. 😝

Why I like how The Berne Witness shows all 4 mats of wrestling. It would be cool if they could use the 2 channels to broadcast 2 mats on each channel while showing all 4 on each channel. However, that is not feasible at this time. They do an excellent job covering sports for our community.

Congratulations Adams Central! 1st Regional title in 30 years...what a season Coach Currie and the AC boys have had.
1a Team State champs, Sectional Champs, Regional Champs, and the season isn't over yet!
Good luck this week and hope to see some guys punch their ticket to Bankers Life.

After watching DeSanto vs Lizak, I really hope Lizak gets better and turns the table on him. If I was coaching him, I would have pulled him off the mat and benched him for a couple matches regardless of how talented he is. Usually the only way those types get the message.

Excellent job as always. You can listen to WZBD for Bellmont coverage while also tuning into The Berne Witness for AC and SA as well as Bellmont, Bluffton, Norwell, SW, and Jay County.

Just curious, would it be possible to use both channels to cover all the mats say like semi state? I know that probably takes more people than available as you need two more announcers and camera guys to do so besides enough media room at host event. It would be awesome if the IHSAA would give you access to the finals. Great job though, and I even watched roundball tonight for a bit.

That was one of many great matches. I was surprised AC won without a closer margin with not having 106 or 113 today. 7 different schools with a champion was great to see as well.

It actually seemed less chaotic than the bracketed tournament in Liberty Center, OH. However, I think that is because most of the schools and parents involved have been around the sport and know how to run events. I have had some Ohio parents asking if I had the dates and how they could RSVP to these events. I'd have to ask my wife to be sure that all those inquiring are Crestview wrestlers (some may be Parkway/Wayne Trace/Van Wert/Lincolnview).

Agree race not being a factor. My point is, how much does hair have an impact on one's ability? Little to none, and very little safety concerns. Like it or not, (even my young you should have a buzzcut/flattop thinking self) agrees this is ridiculous and going to hurt the sport we love. Kids are different today and most will be like the kid forfeiting instead of cutting the hair. Those kids will move on to basketball, hockey, and etc. This sport already has niche vibe that turns some away. Time to adapt and grow the sport.

Like my previous post stated, I'm throwing this in the same category as singlet vs compression shorts & shirts. Time for this sport to evolve from the era of flat tops (trust me I'd prefer kids to have the flat tops of other styles but that's not realistic). The official is probably in the right on enforcing the rule but wrong on where it was. The racialized part comes from his past transgressions. My problem is the rule and others like it. Kids see that and say nah, I'll participate in something else that allows me to be myself. A lot of wrestling rules written and unwritten usually have little to do with how well you can wrestle and turns good athletes away. Time for more culture change!

NFHS and its members like the IHSAA are stuck in 1950. Time has passed these organizations by and it's no wonder AAU and IMG, LaLumiere, and etc have started to take over. I'm not so sure that club sports wouldn't be such a bad idea anymore.

If head gear really wasn't attached,  why didn't somebody cut slits into the hair cover to attach, which would of been much easier and legal.  It was also reported the official in this incident had an incident where  he had called a fellow African American official a racial name.   Something is fishy here.  I do think that wrestling has an underlying perception problem of being a white red neck sport. This story doesn't help that perception.   If we're going to grow the sport, we need to increase minority participation.
