We are well aware that we have work to do and TBH we need to get on the bandwagon and start recruiting and getting all the good kids to the same school to start creating powerhouses. But as of right now we aren’t doing that. No matter if you think this statement is true or not there is much more that goes into it all and personally I find it rude. But hey it’s the internet say what you want. Don’t worry though we always know who makes what statements.

Also it is “too bad” and not “two bad”.

hopefully one day the North can compete with the elite from the south

    You got options in Mackey:

    1.  Use the gas money saved to buy tickets in Purdue Clib section and get stadium seats and near national action.

    2. If they go general admission, then used that saved driving time to get their early and get club stadium sheets.

    3.  Use saved gas money to buy Goriila cushion from Indianamat. I heard Joe's marketing dept is putting this together.

    4.  Buy a Beaver cushion from Rookie78 with saved fas money.

    5.  Buy a boiler cushion at gift store with saved fast money.

And set up chiropractor sessions for the next 2 months with gas money saved!!

  3. Believe me I would rather drive 10 minutes to the Fort Wayne Coliseum, but if it means more comfort while watching the state series, I would rather go to the Ford Center than sit on wooden benches at Mackey.  I think Mackey would be a neat venue but I can not imagine  sitting on wooden benches for 3 sessions of wrestling!!

It cannot be held anywhere near Indianapolis, the billionaire NBA owners will have most every room locked up and you will end up staying in Anderson, Shelbyville, or such.

Ball state cannot fit 4 mats on the floor without removing seats, and then you run into seating issues.

Ft Wayne the hockey team was trying to force the IHSAA to buy out their home game and refused to move it, so if you were hoping for that location, you know where to express your displeasure the hockey team thought they had the IHSAA over a barrel and was trying to force a huge payday for themselves at the expense of the wrestling fans.

That leaves the Ford center, they have the parking, and assured the IHSAA that they have the requisite number of hotel rooms, with plenty of places to eat near the arena for the breaks.

I just hope that they block out rooms for the workers who are helping with this event.

Evansville sweeps New Castle at 113 and sweeps East Chicago at 195.

They nearly swept 126 but Bradley somehow came out on top of Stephens in a a great 6-5 match.

They nearly swept 132 with Justice Thornton losing a close one to one seed Easton Doster 6-4.

As one of the managers of the FW Semi State the word I was told that the Coliseum was more than willing to host the State Finals, nothing was mentioned about a “ransom.” The Coliseum seats more than Robert’s and more of the state is in shorter distance than those that would have to drive to Evansville. That being said, the distance required would cause schools to have lodging for three nights and past experience would indicate the IHSAA would not provide that much reimbursement. Just another perspective

One of our favorite articles of the year is here! The premise of this is to show which coaches and let's be honest COACHING STAFFS have the most success at the most crucial times during the state series. Winning on Friday is simple, you win and you get a medal. If you lose you go home with only a ribbon from last week. Getting kids to peak at the right time is a juggling act that Barnum and Bailey would be impressed by. The coaches at the top of the list simply get things done in crucial moments and that takes years of experience along with trial and error. This article by no means says any coach is better than another, just simply looks at the data from 1992 until 2022 and shows which coaches win at state more often.

This year we have a new leader of the current coaches with the highest winning percentage on Friday night. Congratulations to everyone's favorite Osceola native Jerimiah Maggart for taking the lead! We all know there will be some coaches hot on his tail this year.

Take the data as you want, but it is always a great conversation starter during this week.

I believe Easton will take his brother again this year!!

Sorry if I've missed this... Does anyone know if you can go into Parade of Champions at 1:30... leave and come back for the 152-285 round?  Assuming that they will let you use the same ticket to get back in?

Yes, you are able to do that. There’s only going to be about an hour in between and Friday is considered all one session. Your ticket will get you in for both lights and heavies.

I bought Section 4 thinking it would go Left, Top, right, Bottom some what clockwise. Then it looks like it went the opposite based off the information that Faulkens had mentioned. But then again, word yesterday was there was going to be a change or clarification as to what they are doing. I have not seen this updated as of now.I Hope they flip flop 2&4 . I believe we are on Mat 2 in the first match since we are top half,  top of 2nd bracket.  I am guessing this is how it will be done.

I am going to try & get into section 1 since we will be on Mat 1 when tickets go on sale tomorrow.

I bought tickets and then wanted to move them after I saw the the Numbered laid out and called Gainbridge.

317-917-2727 Gainbridge box office said there was nothing they could do that I had to call ticketmaster. So I did . Ticketmaster said they could do nothing about changing it because it took a promo code and said I should call the other number provided Gainbridge ask us site one was

    317-917-2525

I called there and they told me they could nothing and I would need a new promo number from IHSAA if  needed to make any changes at all. because their hands are tied. good luck changing anything. I did hear from a mother parent that he was able to go back in and  buy all sessions after an error was made to buy only Friday's session though.

I tried to change seats also and they would not let me.  Luckily I got section 16 which is in the middle of the mats.  Yes, they did change my 1 session to all sessions for me though.

  9. I had purchased my Session 1 tickets yesterday with my parent code before the All Session tickets were available.  I just called Gainbridge ticket office and they are changing you from single session to all session if you did the same thing.   I also asked about tomorrow and the public ticket sales and they informed me that there is no limit on what you can purchase.  Get them fast!!! Be patient and nice with them, they are working hard.  It was very hassle free!!!

That would be a change from last year, I think my brother was telling me that there was a limit of 8 per purchase last year. Not sure how I feel about the no limit though, as with anything, that can be abused also, but it would be nice to allow fans to purchase larger blocks to sit together.

That surprised me also, I think I remember 8 last year also.

A lot of us parents did purchase all session tickets. The interesting thing will be if they actually honor them.

From the rules that I'm understanding, with the reserved seating, Coaches and wrestlers will have to purchase seats to have their seats reserved...

Our AD was in on the Zoom meeting with  all the AD and said the coaches wrestlers will have a reserved section that they can sit in.  If you want them to sit with you, they will have to have a seat where ever the parents are sitting.  He also told me that since I could only buy the Friday session when I got my pre sale, Faulken suggested calling Ticketmaster and asking for them to change them to all sessions since I did not have that option when I got mine.

Even with a presale code I can't get Saturday tickets. Technical difficulty....

When I got mine pre-sale Friday was the only option.  My AD sent me

an email that said if your kid wins Friday you will get another code for pre-sale for Saturday.

I know I am not the only one who enjoys this weekend the most in the state series.  For some, I know they expect to be here and at next week's slamdango for the precious metals.  Yet, I think a lot of wrestlers making it here for perhaps the first or the last times have to be gratified to see their hard work paying off.  Every lap, sprint, shark tank, four-hour drive, close loss and quick pin....the growing wrestler has endured so, so much on this uphill journey.  Some will reach a career highlight in the second round, while some will not.  Others, again, will expect to be here and will move on.  Yet, some expectations will be unmet.

Oh, how well we know this is an individual sport!  By this time, the wrestler has pushed their body and mind to their known limits in hopes of attaining success.  Many may not realize that during this pursuit, greatness has already been achieved.  Acts of perseverance, willingness, and respect for the sport and those who continue to carve legacies add up.  The discipline it takes to properly nourish the mind in the classroom and the body at the dinner table does build the toughness needed to get to this stage as well.

Clearly, the spirit of victory can be felt by flesh and blood and the pain of loss can likewise be as deeply known.   As exhilarating and stark the extremes may be for the wrestler, the coaches, parents and teammates have played a game or two of Chutes and Ladders themselves.  They will continue to venerate your name and deeds no matter the outcome.  May you continue to profit both in wrestling and in every facet of life from your priceless sacrifices.

Gorilla Radio is mostly Mike and Joe talking about the happenings in the wrestling world

High School Wrestling Weekly is Rex Brewer and Dane Fuelling's show on WZBD in Decatur. They talk about all things wrestling, but do have a little more of a focus on Adams County.

Joe and Mike are also way better looking.

    That’s debatable!!
