  1. And if I remember right he doesn't pick his list off of how he thinks Semi-States will feed into state. Meaning he ranks from what he believes to be highest to lowest, even if the top 8 came from the same Semi-State. He could easily raise his percentage a few points by only including who he thinks will come out of the Semi-State up at the top, before listing additional probabilities.
  2. That is a very sad statement.......and I hope you are very wrong! I can think of a few up and comers that could turn into the next great things. This is similar to the Jordon/James comparisons, everyone thinks their generation it the best. I can't believe I just made a basketball comparison to wrestling!
  3. I have been doing this board thing all wrong.....I thought it was to talk crap, find information about wrestlers to watch, and stay in the now of wrestling. I have a hard enough problem remembering the wrestlers on my team. I don't need to know every kid out there. That is what your local programs, websites, and other social media is for.....use it!
  4. You guys are getting worked up on a 1st time poster, long time pretender.........
  5. I would argue that it would be a higher percentage due to the fact that some kids get performance anxiety or beat by a mental aspect. I think that some kids beat themselves. For example, if the wrestler knew they wouldn't be out of the tournament if they lose, then I think that would have an impact on their performance. There is a lot of pressure for kids in both the ticket round of semi-state and the first round of state. They don't want to be the kid that losses that is supposed to win! If you put wrestle backs into play, that takes some of that pressure off of the kid. I believe that this 15%-20% number would be absent of this factor and could be much higher in this example.
  6. Quit making it so easy I was enjoying them fumbling around with it.
  7. West Noble kid? I think he got into some trouble with the law. Think I saw him in the area of the paper you don't want to see kids, last year.
  8. My favorite finish, but I'm bios........ The Warsaw wrestler rallied in the final seconds to earn a thrilling victory in the IHSAA State Finals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Hatch, a WCHS freshman, posted an incredible come from behind 13-12 win by decision over Lakeland senior Lukas Long in first-round action in the 106-pound weight class. Hatch, who rallied from being down 7-1, avenged a loss to Lukas earlier this season to move into quarterfinal action Saturday morning. “It was just fantastic,” said Warsaw coach Justin Smith about the win in a phone interview Friday night. “It seemed like the whole arena was watching this match. I know this one will stick in my mind forever.” Hatch trailed 9-3 entering the third and final period. He got three takedowns to pull within 12-10 late in the match before getting the final three points in the final few seconds on a stalling call on Long and a final takedown just before the match concluded for the 13-12 victory. “Everyone, including us knew the score and that Kyle had won 13-12,” recounted Smith. “But, Kyle thought at first it was 12-12 and he went back to the center ready for overtime. He then found out he had won and was jumping up and down and screaming like the rest of us.” He shot 4 sweeps back and forth, back and forth till he chopped the tree down. The crowd went wild. One of the few matches I don't have on tape, because ISHAA was supposed to tape it and they didn't. The company that did it for them no longer exist and I haven't been able to find a copy.
  9. I always used the rule of thumb that if they are a regional kid or better fair game. If not then limit to 5 takedowns and finish the match. There is risk for the better kid to get "caught" or hurt the longer a match goes, so advantage less experienced kid. I've seen refs call quick pins for the less experienced kid, it in the past. Kyle used to get hit with taunting all the time, mainly during cutting because he worked the kid up. If the kid wouldn't get up he would hand fight (their head) or push them out of the circle. We always used it as a way of breaking a kid. With the theory if you take them down, cut, and repeat they get frustrated. Then during 2nd & 3rd periods ride the kid a little longer (to make them feel they are having some success defending being turned), then cut and take them down. They are typically done after that and break, leading to the pin. I have watched this method work over and over. My opinion is that we are talking Penn State verses Iowa. Penn State works you till you break and Iowa grinds you till you break. Problems grinders run into is that kids today have mad scrambling skills, a 2-3 point lead can change fast. I have always taught if you can take someone down and escape from anyone, you shouldn't lose a match. Others are big time riders and down right nasty from top. So, when is to many tilts considered taunting.
  10. Hatch finished with 118 pins, but he wrestled a bunch of Ft. Wayne Semi-State kids.....jk
  11. Plus DeLaPena, Michael & Tolin, Jack didn't make it out of semi-state.
  12. I think the Brooks brothers might have been overlooked. Think they went to state once or twice.
  13. And God forbid if you work them up after you take them down! Kyle was hit with so many "taunting" calls! Think he finished with around 250 takedowns 2016/2017.
  14. Plus screwed two NLC teams, because the team was to have 2 conference match-ups in one of those tournaments. Which means that will effect other tournaments later this year, because they won't have enough credits (having to make this NLC match up)! They should be considered forfeits.
  15. And there are times things are entered into trackwrestling wrong.
  16. Wawasee is a solid team. Warsaw is young and had 4-5 kids that didn't have enough practices yet. Plymouth And Elkhart Memorial will be good as always. Northridge and Northwood will bring some talent also.
