I created a site to help you find wrestlers for your open weights. We connect dual teams and free agents for wrestling tournaments. I'm a coach in Virginia at Skyline High School and with the State Champion Front Royal Raptors. I built this tool for us.

I like this idea. Why doesn't Indianamat put an area for kids to list their weights and contact information if they are interested in wrestling off season, maybe only make it available to coaches. This would make things 100 times easier trying to fill some of these teams. Might take a year or so to take off, but would think that would be a great resource and something easy to set-up.

That is just a suggestion now. Obviously it wasn't enforced.

Louis,
Thank you for your response. However, as stated before MANY people made sacrifices to get to two events. People missed family weddings, missed out on national events, missed work, missed SAT/ACT testings, etc. These same people were told "there will be no exceptions" made to this rule. Now all of a sudden there are exceptions being made. Does the ISWA realize the ramifications of all of this? What rules can we now get a petition around? Can a kid get a waiver for 5 extra pounds on the scale because he twisted his ankle and couldn't cut weight? Can a kid get a waiver to not even have to weigh in?
Rules were made, they were followed by many people whether they agreed with the rule or not. Now they are being told this rule was a joke. I was told in March there would be a waiver process. I was told in a text this week that "you knew there would be waivers granted." What are we teaching kids with this? What are you saying about the rules your organization sets forth? The ramifications of this will be felt for a while. If you decide to keep the two tournament requirement next year people will laugh and just wait for the waiver period. Any gains the local tournaments felt this year will be lost next year.
There are over 10% of the entries that most likely didn't get two local events in. What kind of waiver process is it when everyone that asks for one gets in?
In the end this leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I try to support the ISWA as much as possible, but this is one situation where you guys royally messed up. Usually the ISWA thinks things through, but from what I was told...it was almost unanimous on the board to allow waivers. That is not a good sign for the organization.

Well look at Y2, the Tom Rinaldi of Indianamat.....delivering the sad motivational stories!!
It was a cold, windy Saturday morning when this particular family found themselves in a car wreck, with twisted steal, cries, and the blood from his sister still fresh, Little Johnny wouldn't be deterred, no he had to qualify for ISWA state! He kissed Mom and sister farewell, and with a tear in his eye he set off on foot with only his Asic Tigers, Head Gear and his Pro Power sweatshirt to keep him warm. He traveled through 95 inches of snow, over the hills and through the cornfields of Indiana to that little gym in Hickory. Johnny wanted to an ISWA state qualfier...

Yikes! So ISWA wants to strengthen the styles, promote growth, make IN better..yet it has clearly disappointed a kid and his team that last I checked, would be the poster child for the exact demographic they should be looking to hook! No one in the organization could reply to a state runnerup and by not doing so, place that wrestler in a vary precarious health position...all while this wrestler does EVERYTHING in his power to accomplish each MANDATE the ISWA throws at him which includes the desire to strengthen his states stature in the styles? Oh, and this kid and team are connected to one of the better/upcoming programs in the state that, I assume, is actually GROWING in numbers and profile? Nice. Maybe there is a reason they are an RWO and not RTC (I kid, I know there is). Maybe others might follow now since teaching the styles doesn't need to be a priority and all qualify for state again anyway? Let's be truthful, no waiver will be denied this year! I'm sorry you and your wrestler had to go thru this.

Wow... straight up bull crap by the ISWA.
I sent an email to Mr. Rosbottom and Coach Hull about a waiver for my son on March 8th because of the National Schedule we were attending. I received ZERO response back... In addition, Ty was injured while wrestling in Virginia and rushed back this past weekend to get our 2nd qualifier in so he could attend Freestyle/Greco state. If I would have known there was any type of waiver process, I certainly would have applied to the ISWA to give him an extra week to heal up.
I love how the letter was dated April 29... that's TODAY! Nice communication skills... we abided by the rules as they were stated and would have expected everyone else in the state to abide by them as well. Now, with 1 day left to register, the ISWA changes their tune. Ridiculous!

TeamGarcia reacted to Y2CJ41 in Open Letter to the ISWA
Dear ISWA Board Members,
The flyer for the Freestyle State Finals states, “All participants must compete in a minimum of 2 Local level Freestyle tournaments in order to compete at the State event.”
In looking at the current entries it appears as if some kids who didn’t participate in two local freestyle tournaments are now being allowed to wrestle at state. You are opening a can of worms that will leave a big black eye on your organization if these kids are allowed to wrestle. You told people that, jobs WERE NOT an excuse, national events WERE NOT an excuse, Grandma Betty’s birthday WAS NOT an excuse, spring break WAS NOT an excuse, participating in baseball or track WAS NOT an excuse, and so on. The only viable reason that should be allowed is an injury that is accompanied by a doctor’s note.
Now it is time to step up and follow the rules you set forth for your membership. How the organization responds to this will affect the future more than you can imagine. If you set rules and allow people to get around them you will create a chaotic atmosphere that will not look good upon the organization.
Thank you

Outstanding job men. I was nice to see the Indiana kids there with all the smiles on their faces. Great job coaches and parents you can be very proud of your young men. As officials we talk in great length among ourselves about the teams, the coaches and the wrestlers on all the teams. I saw some very bad sportsmanship from some of the wrestlers, coaches and parents. But I did not see that with any of the Indiana teams. I also did not hear of any issues regarding an Indiana team. Every one involved with these teams should be very proud of young men. Again great job.

TeamGarcia reacted to Novice Bat in Doyle Trout
Doyle Trout was originally scheduled to wrestle Saturday night at the Dream Team Classic in Independence.
But the four-time Nebraska state high school champion is facing a bigger battle now.
Trout suffered serious injuries Sunday night in a one-car wreck near Waco, Neb. Doctors amputated Trout’s left leg above the knee, according to his high school wrestling team’s Facebook page and a GoFundMe account http://www.gofundme.com/r5ehmsset up to help Trout’s family with medical expenses.
York County Sherriff Dale Radcliff told the Grand Island Independent that initial reports showed Trout bent down to get something in his vehicle when he lost control, swerved into a ditch and hit a power pole.
Please everyone keep Doyle and his family in your prayers.
