QuinnHarris reacted to Spike McPike in Supreme Sportsmanship and Beyond (The Bigger Picture)
Today at the Mooresville Holiday Classic, following the 190 lbs Championship Bout, the parents of the 2nd Place wrestler from Cascade HS, Braxton Lewis, approached the father of Collin Casad, the champion. After a brief introduction of themselves, Lewis's father told Eric Casad that they had learned of the passing of Eric's son Nick, a former Terre Haute South wrestler and older brother to Collin - in a car accident earlier this year. They offered their condolences, and then informed Eric Casad (standing next to me) that they too had lost a son in an accident. Eric Casad and the Lewis parents seemed to experience a profound bond as Lewis's parents congratulated Eric Casad on Collin's victory, and expressed that they were happy for fhe Casad family - and happy to go away with 2nd. The Lewis parents related, "It's bigger than this (the wrestling)". Braxton had left last year's Holiday Classic with a broken leg, they explained. The Lewises wished the Casads well and expressed that they hoped to see them again - and that they'd keep them in their thoughts and prayers.
This year both young men wrestled their hearts out while wearing the singlets of their older brothers who were not physically present at today's meet, but whose imprints of brotherly love surely remain in the hearts of these two young men today, of their families, and those who knew them.
This was the most moving expression of supreme sportsmanship - and beyond - that I've seen in my years attending wrestling events.
Very best wishes to both families!

QuinnHarris reacted to Y2CJ41 in West Central over Rochester??!!
Head to heads should be taken heavily into consideration in all classes. Beating a team straight up should count for a lot when it comes to seeding. If it doesn't then we will have to rethink what it means to seed the event.

Rochester bumped their 138- Basham up to 144. Rodriguez (WC) won by fall.
Rochester bumped their 144 - Schott up to 150. WC’s 150 - Ezra Rodriguez fought off his back for over a minute to end the first period and trailed 5-0 going into the 2nd. Got the fall in the 2nd to seal the dual.

I have thought exactly this for a long time. Take these next couple days and focus on your family. They deserve you. Thank you and Merry Christmas you fellow psychopaths.

I'm not sure what the actual attendance was, but there had to be 2500 fans or more at the Bellmont - Adams Central Dual last night. They delayed the start of the JV matches by half an hour because of the long line of fans waiting to get in. It was a great atmosphere and the fans weren't disappointed. The teams split the matches 7-7 and Bellmont won on bonus points 38-32. Thanks to Nat Bryan for taking this picture of the crowd.

Dylan Lydy was a state champ for Ben Davis and a really good wrestler all four years, but he got so much better at Purdue. Two time blood rounder and had a great shot to place when NCAAs were cancelled in 2020.
And for my Alma mater, Chase Wilson from Maconaquah ended up having a great career wrestling for Manchester, I believe finishing just shy of being an AA.

QuinnHarris reacted to Caleb Spires in Best to have never won it?
Bethel wins the “best to never place” battle, but it pretty difficult to put a “never placed” wrestler ahead of guys who made the semis 3+ times.

I believe they would award Co-Champions. I feel like this occured at Evansville Semi-State somewhere close to 2015 between EMD and Avon.

While everyone is talking about the big guys, let's give the little guys some love. What are some thoughts on 1A team state? Some familiar names in the mix plus some new teams in it this year. 1A has provided some serious excitement over the past few years, nice to see it has its own location now.

QuinnHarris reacted to Y2CJ41 in Most individual results
Since @ontherise219 wanted to see who puts in the most individual results, here you go
Name Number @littlevito 364 Y2CJ41 24 @Beavman10 17 @cccoach 14 @bomber_bob 10 @brickfor6 10 @rookie78 10 @NORSEMEN Coach 9 @Coplen187 9 @Gurpartap Gill 9 @ducktails 9 @PatParham 8 Jessica Gropp 7 BlackBaron 7 Starz1994 6 gogoplata89 6 AJ 6 QuinnHarris 6 Ella Morris 5 Silence Dogood 5 spfaff 5 CoachAven 5 decbell1 5 jheaston 5 Nate Spangle 4
I think we might have to reward the people who put in the most with gear and/or Silverback memberships. So that means enter in more results, whether it's wins or losses, but also don't be shy of helping your kid by entering other people's results.

QuinnHarris reacted to Coach Brobst in Individual results for rankings 12/12
Really fun one. Aidan is going to be multi time placer in Indiana for sure. Zach lost a scramble in the first period which ended with Kincaide locking up a cradle and going up 5-0. Hard to battle back from that deficit against anyone who is good and Aidan certainly is. Will be a fun battle when they see each other again at Conference and perhaps Semi-State.
