  1. Original post.. Stalling. I hear countless wrestlers say drop to a single and hold on. The very least to take additional time off the clock. Run the guy out of bounds. Get a fresh start. All strategy here. Smart wrestling. Whether good or bad. Leave it ip to the ref..
  2. Impressed, how crume was able to ride Welch for the whole period. Especially after locking hands. Thats tough..
  3. Is there ever an instance, such as this one where the coach should over rule the wrestler. I figured strength vs. strength. Wilson seemed to get the best of Hughes on his feet. It seemed Hughes best chance was to take top to use his strength vs. Wilson. At the very least, if it did not work at least he would have been in his best position (strength). I thought for sure Hughes was going to choose top. Only one or two guys this year that have not got turned or pinned by hughes in that position I do believe. Very impressed with Hughes and take my hat off to him. He will be back and only can imagine if he ever is in that predicament again he will choose top. Great job... Region fan...
  4. Im glad penn's jv team was there. They went to compete. As you can see they were not embarrassed. It made for better competition. Even though it was jv. Kids need mat time. I'd rather see a whole team wrestle, then five or six guys from a team. Penn is a big school with a great feeder system. It will be tough to compete with them as a team, but thank goodness wrestling is an individual sport. 1 vs 1 at anytime at any weight class.
  5. Good dual. Looks like the rivalry is back.. Descent crowd. Very animated tonight...
  6. Which Crume is better? This one or the older one. Insightful mind is inquring. Seen both wrestle, but not enough to base a solid opinion..
  7. Alot of these kids will not be at these weight classes. Trust me. Also, several of these kids have lost to kids that are at the same weight in the prior year, yet are ranked higher than the kid they lost too. It's early, but to be the man you have to bear the man. Homework, homework and more homework..
  8. Has Brooks ever beat Mason Todd?? To my my knowledge no, and Brooks never wrestled at the 120 weight class, which was truly stacked weight class this year and todd had a couple of tough matches at state and semistate..
  9. Most impressed, was Paul petrov. Class act off and on the mat. Wrestled with and agenda and one of the most humbled guys you can meet. Great job on and off the mat. True competitor..
  10. I have not seen that in s very long time, where a guy tries to circle and the other wrestler cuts the angle to still push the guy out of bounds. That has to be a form of stalling. No moves were being worked. Unless the rules clearly state, that pushing a guy out of bounds regardless of not allowing the guy to circle. Is a form of offense . Hopefully next time the match is decided by a take-down
  11. There were a lot of blue birds at the DAC, too bad it flew away or I would have got a definite answer. Maybe next time. 8)
  12. Rankings are just that, RANKINGS. When the season ends you start from scratch. There are some tough kids out there that are not #1, and might just upset people i guess thats what we call it, but don't tell that to the kids that do the upsetting, if everything was written in stone then why wrestle. Y2 and ONTHERISE, do a good job to keep it interesing. Im really impressed with the #1 kids in each weight class, that have that pressure to perform at a peak level everytime. We learned one thing for sure, come tournament time, when kids get hot watch out. At the end of the year we will know for sure how off Y2 and ONTHERISE were. No pressure!!! 8)
  13. Vlink vs. Maldonado (swing match). It might just come down to coaching, and who doesn't lose there hair first. Hmm, hair bad example. Maybe there cool. ;D
  14. I heard Berry went 3-0. Garcia went 5-0 and Steveson went 5-0.
  15. Did anyone from merrillville or mater dei go undefeated for the tournament??
  16. Molloy has a be better chance to win state at 132 than 138. I do not see him beating Jackson. I think Jackson would control the match, but Molloy is sure fun to watch. Jackson destroyed Hartman earlier in the year from beginning to end. Either way good wrestlers make for good matches. Good luck to both..
  17. I would of loved to see the matchup at full strength, but once again injuries, strategic moves and so forth, did not allow this to happen. This is so frustrating to wrestling fans. Maybe we should cancel the regular season and go straight into tournament time. Sectionals, so we can see all the matches we want to, instead believing the hype and the hype never materializing. One thing for sure all the kids will be ready for sectionals banged up or not.
  18. Unfortunately, that is why we have to wait to tournament time. Just make sure your son is ready, during the tournament, so we can find why the kid was bumped. Good luck to all, just make sure your keeps his integrity.
  19. It's almost sad to say if a kid has a medical condition maybe he should not be wrestling at all. I do know how some gyms are, but not all. Wrestling in a match is the best part of the day. Practices were ten times tougher than any other meet I competed in. If a kid can practice he should be able to wrestle. It's seems in the heat of battle, some kids develop shortness of breath. I'm not going to knock any kids, but common sense, would make you wonder if you go see a doctor and get and inhaler or have any medical conditions. Should you really be wrestling?? Wrestling is one of the most brutal cardiovascular endeavorments, out of all sports in highschool. I see to many red flags. Something happens to him on the mat. The first thing that will be said is how did he get clearance.. If you can practice for three hours a day. I think you can wrestle for six minutes. Sometimes we all have to face the music, just some sooner than later.
  20. Some key matches this week. Nothing like great wrestlers wrestling one another to test were there at. 126 is stack this year. Great measuring stick for Carol and Garcia. Both r capable of state title ***NO NO NO***ions. 106 shall be a measuring stick for Garza. The guy looks to have filled out and Bevans will bring it. Christmas has come early for some fans.. Enjoy..
  21. As Im sure from the point of of view from a wrestler and a parent it has to be disheartening, that you expect your coach to protect you and have the best interest of the wrestler and team at heart, to only see a debacle of this magnitude at this level is mind boggling. Feel bad for Roach, a very good kid, who deserved to finish his last match on the mat and not on the side lines.
  22. I've seen Jackson wrestle a couple times this year. He is always in control. Have not seen him out of his elements, so far this year. Raley is a real tough kid, saw some film on him. If he survives being on bottom, this match get really interesting. Hopefully this is the final. Battle of wills. Good Luck to Both..
  23. I seen both teams wrestle this year. 112, 119 and 125 are toss ups. I know this for sure. Might be swing matches..
  24. I know its up to the coaches who shakes hands and who does not. I mean I'm glad my coach always made me shake hands and for the most part the other schools do too. When the match is over, its over. Its time to be a gentlemen and man up. If you get your butt kick and are ashamed of the butt whooping then get better. Its honor to go out there and wrestle and bust your butt in the gym to make varsity. To not shake hands because you are mad or upset makes no sense. I believe calmer heads always prevail, to show emoton in a negative way is to show weakness. I hear some coaches want to protect there kids. From what?? Have to grow up sooner or later. In the real world if you pull these stunts good luck moving ahead. No one likes losing, but there is nothing worse than a soar loser. Strict reflection of coaching. I know some kids who don't shake hands, but are the nicest kids in the world.
