Been to Indy and Evansville now. Overall EVV hosted it better imo. You could tell they went all out for it.

I’m really surprised at how poorly CP performed this weekend. It’s a shame they couldn’t get it done this weekend after such a dominating season. Kudos to BB & CG for outwrestling CP and earning the top 2 spots. I don’t think anyone would have guessed CP was going to leave Evansville without a ring. I guess that’s why you wrestle the matches.

Jayruss got a reaction from blueandgold in ‘23 vs ‘24 champs
‘23 listed first followed by ‘24
106-(41-5) Dickman vs Schoettle (43-1)
rolling with Dickman 3-2 but a very tough match.
113- (42-2) LaRocca vs (41-2) Dickman
I think Dickman stays dominant at 5-2
120- (33-4) Hockaday vs LaRocca (37-5) I have Hockaday 5-3
126-(42-0) Thrine vs Rioux (40-5)
Thrine could’ve walked on water last year at state and I wouldn’t be surprised. Thrine 5-4 OT
132- (42-0) Buttler vs (37-2) Hockaday
Buttler is game like Thrine, but Hockaday rolls to a major 12-4.
138- (48-1) Solomey vs (44-1) Leavell
the toughest one to call so I had to go with who traversed the harder path and that will be Solomey. 3-2 TB Cole
145/144- (52-0) Torres vs (39-0) Doster
an 0 gotta go, and Torres was on fire last year so give me 5-3 Torres.
152/150 (44-0) Lowery vs (40-2) Kresja
Match of the night ? Give me The Terminator Kresja 3-1
160/157- (39-2) Goin vs (41-1) Betz
Goin 5-3 in a tight one.
170/165- (25-4) Goodwin vs (41-1) Cressell. If Goodwin had the chops to beat undefeated Rulhman under the lights then he’ll get the jump on the sophomore and wins 5-1.
182/175- (35-2) Cruz vs (42-2) Leech
Cruz cruises to a 6-2 win
195/190- (44-1) Purdy vs (50-0) Weaver
Very tough match but Weaver wins 5-4.
220/215- (38-3) Clark vs (33-3) Clark
a year older Clark wins 6-4
285- (37-5 ) Jones vs Johnson (27-1) I think the battle tested Jones wins 4-3 OT
Final score 24-16 in favor of 2023.

Jayruss reacted to blueandgold in Kudos to the Rankers
The accuracy of 144 is amazing. The top eight ranked wrestlers at the weight all won their Friday night matches and are all officially on the podium. I am not sure how often that happens, but it's pretty cool in this instance. The top eight are truly the top eight.

CP has definitely recruited a fine team from far and wide, but at the expense of all the hometowns where those kids came from.

Jayruss reacted to Ahawkeye in Evansville Eats: Does the Beef Polish Exist in SW Indiana?
Been waiting for this one!
As far as a beef polish yes I would say Triple B hit it on the head with Gerst house.
My pizza recommendations are as follows: Spanky's Pizza, Broadway Pizza this one is a little bit out of the way. Or Turoni's Pizza. Knowing that time is of the essence sometimes you might want to call ahead and order to go at all three places.
If you go down to Franklin Street on one of the shuttles you really should try the Pizza King stromboli it's true they are a little hit and miss at times but if you get a good one you'll know it!
My favorite Chinese restaurant is a place called Yen Ching on Green River Road I love ordering their entrees extra spicy but you better have a plan for a bathroom afterwards! I hear China Bistro is good but I've never been there.
The Hilltop Inn is Good Ol' Tavern food! Plenty of fried Delicacies to be had!
If you are of age and are looking to have some fun after finals the casino is obviously nearby and there are several bars that stay open late on Franklin Street my favorite of these is called the Sportsman's not a lot of Flash but plenty of pool tables if that's your thing.
If you're looking for flash try Chasers or buds bar also on Franklin. Bud's has a loaded nachos platter that is out of this world!
If you brought your wallet and you went a good steak you can try Cavanaugh's in the casino District or you can try Cork and cleaver I would suggest reservations on both.
If you are willing to Brave going to the outskirts of Evansville there are a few bars and taverns that get my nod as well but if you're really interested in those let me know and I'll send you that way.

Honestly Jake and Thrine is such an interesting match up because of their style.
Jake wins a lot of matches with how quick he is on reattacks and how smooth he is. Thine might be the superior athlete.
Demarco is another wrinkle, he is mean, wrestles edgy and has crazy good hips where he lands on top in almost every scramble.
I know we all don’t get to see Thrine very much all year but kid showed up last year and stole the show beating Frazier
who I think was ranked higher nationally a D1 committ and had a very impressive resume

Growing up in Southern Indiana it was all about James Brimm. The guy was hitting moves in the mid 90’s in high school that we are now just seeing!

Two of the best from SW Indiana: Jason Greer and James Brimm.
Jim Shannon (Brimm's stepfather) was a long time referee as well.

In honor of Black History Month, I’d like to know who are some Black wrestlers and coaches who’ve made an impact on this sport for you in some way whether as a fan, wrestler, or teammate? Indiana has a rich history of Black athletes and leaders in wrestling, and it’s always good to see their efforts celebrated. Share any stories or memories you have.

Finally. Someone with some sense and a respectable, realistic take. I absolutely understand someone picking Hockaday, but to act as if Tylin has zero shot considering his own body of work is crazy.
