  4. I always like to look at IHSAA minutes and such and came across this with some interesting tidbits.... http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/about ihsaa/2019 Board of Directors Agenda.pdf?timestamp=1555440462035 9. RULE 10 – INTERSTATE CONTESTS AND PRACTICES REQUIRING SPECIAL ATTENTION 10-1 Out-of-State Contest Limitations Page 41 The address of out-of-state schools participating in a Contest against a member School as well as the site of such Contests must be within Six-hundred (600)can be an unlimited number of miles round trip travel from the Indiana state line and shall be sponsored or co-sponsored by a member high School. Propose amendment made by the IHSAA Commissioner, on behalf of the Pocket Athletic Conference (Forest Park, Heritage Hills, Pike Central, South Spencer, Tell City, Gibson Southern, North Posey, Southridge and Tecumseh). Translation: No more travel restrictions. 2. RULE 1 – RULE COVERAGE 1-3 Championship Tournament Series Page 17 A championship tournament series will be provided at such time as Fifty Thirty percent (30%) of the total, full Membership Schools are participating in that sport at the same time of the year and it is recommended by the Commissioner. Proposed amendment made by Dave Worland, Principal, Cathedral High School, and Mark Preston, Principal, Lafayette Jefferson High School. Translation: With about 80 schools having girls wrestling this year at the state finals we only need about 90 for the sport to be sponsored by the IHSAA. Other Notes Potential changes to the definition of a "boundary" for private/parochial schools. Addition of a multiplier(1.65) for classification of private/parochial schools. For instance if Cathedral has 500 students, for classification purposes they would have 825. Addition of individual sports to the Limited Contact Program. This means more restrictions on Open Mats and preseason conditioning programs at schools. Proposal to basically give a free transfer to a student if they transfer before they are a sophomore.

  5. Mendez is in solid position to secure the Pan Am spot, the guy that beat him in Greco didn't enter freestyle. Only two other Greco placers made the freestyle podium, Ramon Ramos(3rd) and Benjamin Alanis(5th). Mendez already has more points than Alanis and will basically need to not finish more than two spots behind Ramos. Ramos has Boarman in the morning. Allred's path is a little more complicated, but he controls his own fate. The champ from Greco is in the consolations so if Allred makes the finals he should be good to go. The other semi-finals has the 3rd and 4th place finishers from Greco and the Greco champ could obviously wrestle back to 3rd.

  6. Mendez and Allred are in the drivers seat to make the Pan Am team, looks like if they win their semis they make the team

  8. Allred & Mendez advance to Cadet Freestyle Semi’s. Both in great position to secure the weight with Team USA for Pan Am’s. Lee, Lohrey, Dickens and Walker all advance to Junior Freestyle Semi’s. Quite a few hammers still wrestling back in consi’s at both levels. Including Seltzer, Parkinson, Erb & Boarman. Semi-Finals begin tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.

    New Flo Rankings

Congrats to you boys! To be honest my guy was getting little interest until he hit these rankings. Being In These rankings put these kids on a lot of radars that they would not be on. Indiana boys.... go find kids on these rankings. Figure out where they will be and go beat them! Due to the travel restrictions by the IHSAA, it is very hard to crack or move up in these rankings during season. Stay in shape all “off season” (which is not a real thing) and go get some big wins! Go out and get those college dollars men!

  10. And for the record, I am not a proponent of classing the individual tournament. I wish they would increase to 24 kids in the state bracket. Ticket round winners place top 4 at semi state. Ticket round loser wrestle to 5/6. This eliminates the death draw issue and basically assures the top kids qualify. Take 6 to state. Add 1 round Friday for 4 vs 5 and 3 vs 6. Semi state champs and runner ups have a bye. Somehow random draw in the first round like they do now. Keep the rest of the tournament series the same. I am a huge proponent of Class Duals.

  11. I agree and appreciate the fact that 6A schools have multiple sport athletes as well and are successful at that. My point is that is is much more common in smaller school settings. My varsity line up: 113, 120, 138- cross country. 126, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220- football. 132 was football until this year. 106 first year kid that was literally the only one I could find to make weight in the school. So if you can tell me that Brownsburg had 11-12 varsity wrestling starters that played a fall sport, then I will stop trying to post about the differences we face. They get much better year round buy in and that is the advantage. I give Snyder props for what he has done. Brownsburg came to our duals for a couple years prior to his head coaching. We actually won the two duals we had with them. Then last year we faced them at the Bellmont main event and took a whooping. He has changed their culture and elevated that program.

  12. Year round wrestling training is the difference. Period. Hard work pays off and those kids that invest in wrestling only are reaping the rewards. Others that invest their hard work in other sports have to play catch up. Enrollment does not matter. The focus of the kids efforts is what does.
