DragonDad
As the title says how many of your clubs pay their "club" coach a salary to run club practice and coach at tournaments?
DragonDad
Not one club?
Y2CJ41
Garrett/Roadrunner does not. I believe there used to be a stipend allotted for the club, but it was transferred to a stipend for the middle school after they cut two paid positions.
MattM
We have a spot set aside for a MS/HS Asst that is also designated as a travel coach. However we have not as of yet fill the position, due to lack of coaches in the area (heck we have a school paid asst. coach that is unfilled currently) As I would expect with many clubs we try and keep the costs low and current school coaching staff volunteers there time for club and travel. jetwrestling
Jet Wrestling Club (Adams Central) does not pay. Volunteer only. Mostly the high school coaches with help from some dads. Tony Currie
Mattyb
Avon does not pay. All club proceeds go towards the kids at all levels. That is good enough for all involved and very rewarding. $100 bucks gets you three practices a week for 7 months, your USA card, shorts and a Tee. Not a bad deal. lpd096
The Lowell Wrestling Club pays a coach. This was started 2 years ago, I believe?

leaveitonthemat
Our club, Lawrence Youth Wrestling is all volunteer. We are fortunate enough to have around 10+ coaches that volunteer their time for our kids.
Bigtoe19
That is great! Isn't the coach there "Stewart" the old Owen Valley coach? Seen a few of them kids @ the Folkstyle State, over this last weekend!!
wildcatcountry97
I have never heard of a club coach getting paid. Most all club coaches coach for free because they love the sport and want to help our kids improve. Most all clinicians who do RTC's do this for free as well out of giving back to a sport that has given them so much. To me this sounds like asking your buddies to pay you cash for helping them move. The only 'club' I know paying their coaches would be those 'wrestling academies' and such.
Y2CJ41
Actually the clubs do pay most of the RTC clinicians.
wildcatcountry97
I've seen an aweful lot refuse it. Anyhow, it's only a few bucks for gas money to drive to the school, not really a 'getting paid' situation.
