Looking at the point scoring system, it is skewed to the top.  First=24 pts while Eighth=3 pts.  It would take eight 8th placers to equal one champ.  This makes the Coaches Trophy almost a  lottery.  A dual meet team with a core of eight 8th placers would be extremely decent.

The scoring system he is using is the same scoring system that is used in virtually every tournament that places 8 wrestlers in the nation.

He has given the top two spots an extra two bonus points, figuring they would on average pick them up in one of their three or four wins.

An eighth place wrestler at state scores exactly three points.

Oddly enough, last year the champs earned only 27.5 bonus points from 56 wins while the runners-up earned 36 from 42 wins.  Go figure.

But you're right, the point awards for the game include an average expected bonus total for each position.

Sorry, man, Ayersman has special pricing for being ranked #1 in the state.  Look back at the original post for pricing on top-ranked guys.  He's $5.  You need to cut $1 somewhere.

285:  Ff- 0

I am going to FF a few weight classes since this is not a dual meet format.  I think this give me a chance to score somewhere around 190 points.  Possibly 5 champs out of this group.  It is my "old school" team.

I might come up with a full team for a team B.

Man, sorry to poo-poo this entry--especially with all the nice banter--but I specifically made the rule that you had to take one person from each weight class with this exact scenario in mind.  Of course Tsirtsis and nobody is better than any random #1 seed and any random #4 seed.  This is the point of the game--you have to be creative and take a hit if you want a big gun.

I thought this was good before, but now I see it is awesome.  Well played.

It was a very complicated formula.  It had to do with Class wrestling, not shaking hands, Bobby Cox and the amount of Fans Mater Dei will bring minus the amount of Fans Crown Point will bring times the complaints about the Merriville semistate divided by how many cool points Demoguy loses per post plus the cost of the Dude's rug.

Do the math Dude, it comes out to $38.  Am I Wrong!?!

Very good Walter, but it was going to be $41.29, until he saw a post in the "Attendance" thread. In that post, a confessed life-long Merrilville SS attendee; admitted he had gone to the New Castle SS. I suppose that was proof enough that NC was the toughest SS this year. He factored that in, and divided everything by the percentage of coaches  "dipping" in the corners, and it came out $38 on the nose.

btw, If that is a show dog....why didn't I see it on tv, in the Toy Group,  at the Westminster? ;D

You nailed it...except for the 'coaches in jeans' variable.

Scanned through and didn't see this question posted or answered....sorry if I have overlooked it.  How did you arrive at the $38.00?

The average value of any 14 guys is $36.  I just added a bit to it, so people wouldn't have to scrounge for as many guys that will max out as 5th placers; but I left it low enough that it requires some strategy and research.
