Boot
I got bored last night and ranked the sectionals and regionals by the number of state qualifiers produced by each. I may be off by 1 here or there, I was tired and couldn't sleep. Any surprises? I know I had several. Statistically each sectional should have 7 qualifiers and each regional 14. Regionals 1 - Jay County, 25 2 - Castle, Pendelton Heights, 21 4 - Mooresville, Rochester, 17 6 - Laporte, Perry Meridian, 15 8 - Bloomington South, Calumet, Goshen, Logansport, 12 12 - Carroll, Northmont, 11 14 - Richmond, 9 15 - Peru, 8 16 - Jeffersonville, 6 Sectionals 1 - Lawrence Central, 14 2 - Delta, Mishawaka, 13 4 - Jay County, 12 5 - Evansville Central, 11 6 - Castle, Crown Point, Lafayette Jeff, Mooresville, 10 10 - Elkhart Memorial, 9 11 - Carroll, Decatur Central, 8 13 - Avon, Hamilton Heights, Warren Central, Zionsville, 7 17 - Calumet, East Chicago Central, Jennings County, Northview, South Dearborn, 6 22 - Laporte, Oak Hill, 5 24 - Crawfordsville, Jeffersonville, Plymouth, 4 27 - New Haven, Peru, Shenandoah, Westview, 3 31 - Southridge, Twin Lakes,

Boot
Thanks, I like doing statistical analysis and looking for yearly trends. You would think I was a math teacher, but no.
Thornton
The New Castle Semi state must be tough because they have 56 state qualifiers and 14 of those are semi state champs. Top that!

bburgcatman
what about by conferences? that could be pretty interesting
MattM
what about by conferences? that could be pretty interesting Those stats wouldn't come out as clear. Some conferences are almost completely filled with teams also in the same sectional and/or regional. Other conferences are filled with teams that are all part of several sectionals and regionals. Because of that some confence opponents would be able to eliminate each other in sectionals and regionals. Others may never even face someone form their concerence until semi-state or possibly even state.

Exactly, plus it wouldn't really have any affect on the road to state, conference doesn't play much, if any, role other than as another tournament. That's just my opinion though.
