  2. Track teams and cross country teams are allowed to practice co-ed. Imagine they’d also let wrestling.
  3. Anyone have video of Rickie Clark’s backflip after his match with Robert Samuels at state? Showed the match to some kids at practice and they didn’t believe that he hit a backflip but all the video I can find cuts off early.
  4. Yesterday
  5. Will they be allowed to practice with the boys? Otherwise, that would cause bad logistic problems.
  6. Are the girls still allowed to participate in with “boys” now still or will they no longer be allowed to since they now have an “equivalent” sport … like basketball, etc.?
  7. In an 18-0 decision the IHSAA has moved forward with fully sanctioning girls wrestling as a varsity sport in Indiana. The sport was officially approved this afternoon after running as a separate event under the IHSGW since 2017 and two years under the IHSAA's Emerging Sport status. Indiana has been a training ground for many of the top women's wrestlers in the country with Olympians Sarah Hildebrandt and Kayla Miracle leading the way. Indiana has a strong tradition in women's wrestling and as a fully sanctioned sport it will continue to produce wrestlers with national and world level success. View full article

  9. I don't agree with the conclusion either. But for the poster earlier, who liked the takedown and reversal being 2 points I think that is the most reasonable argument for it.
  10. At this point, we don’t know where Yazdani is with his recovery, but I think it’s safe bet that he will not be at his best . while I think Yazdani will be favored, we will know better after we see him in Hungary
  11. All 3 of those guys could also score points on Yazdani, but would lose. They are all very dynamic in moments. Valencia obviously just beat Azarpira up at 92 (i know you say it was the weight cut, but conditioning is not Valencia's strength either). He also was ahead of Taylor almost the whole first match (but lost 4-2) at Final X in 2022 the last time he met Taylor. I don't think Brooks is as good as Taylor was 2 years ago, but he's very, very good, and he will be the biggest challenge Yazdani has to face in Paris.
  12. Rumor is that Roger Goodell wants to move the super bowl to presidents day weekend. This has been the same weekend as the state finals. Dear Indianapolis, DO NOT HOST THE SUPERBOWL. Also this makes for a very eventful weekend. Thoughts?
  13. I guess I am blocked from being interested....

  17. Perry Meridian is proud to announce that Indiana’s 4 Timer CJ Red & IU Asst Coach will be leading our RTC on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. C.J. Red, Assistant IU Coach The 2023-24 season marks C.J. Red's second on the Indiana Wrestling coaching staff. In year one, Red helped Indiana's program make big strides. The Hoosiers' 8-5 record in 2022-23 was the team's best since 2016-17, that included three Big Ten wins and three ranked victories, as well. Red provided valuable experience of wrestling at the highest stage and in recent time, after just finishing his collegiate career in March 2022. He worked closely with Indiana's light and middleweights and helped push Graham Rooks (149 lbs.) to have the best season for an Indiana wrestler since 2017. Rooks went 29-11 and reached the Round of 12 at his third career NCAA Championships. This was the furthest an Indiana Wrestler had gone in the tournament since 2017 when Nate Jackson got eighth place at 184 lbs. Rooks also finished in fifth place at the Big Ten Championships.Red, an Indiana native, returns to his home state after completing his highly successful collegiate wrestling career at Nebraska this past spring. At Nebraska, Red was a standout in the lineup at 141 lbs. throughout his entire career from 2016-2022. Red was a three-time NCAA All-American ––– earning sixth place at the 2021 NCAA Championships, as well as eighth place in 2019 and seventh place in 2018. In total, he was a five-time NCAA Championships qualifier from 2018-2022. Additionally, Red earned multiple podium finishes at the Big Ten Championships over the years. He finished in second place in 2019, third in 2020, fourth in 2021 and seventh place in 2018. For his Cornhusker career, Red had a 98-46 overall record and a 39-20 dual record. He won 22 bouts via fall with five tech falls and nine major decisions to his name. The move to the Indiana coaching staff is Red’s first coaching role in his professional career. Prior to competing at Nebraska, Red had a legendary high school wrestling career. He attended New Palestine High School where he wrestled for coach Chad Red Sr. Red went 183-0 in his prep days, including being a four-time state champion. He was deemed the top 132-pounder in the country according to the Asics FloRankings in the class of 2016. He won the 2015 FloNationals crown, was the 2014 Super 32 champion and 2014 Fargo Junior Cadet Nationals champion, all at 126-lbs. Enter PMHS main entrance (Door No, 1) and proceed to the wrestling room. Come get better and learn from the best.
  18. Not sure I agree with the conclusion, but certainly logic that can be followed.
  19. it was only 1-0 to Valencia after the first period. it was 3-1 to Brooks with 1:48 to go. and obviously it finished 7-6 to Brooks (controversially after Valencia was leading 6*-6 with 6 seconds to go and the ref gives a point to Brooks for a Valencia singlet grab foul) Brooks beat Mirasola 11-5, Dieringer 8-4, Valencia 7-6 then DT 4-1 and 3-1 DT was the only guy of those three who couldn't get a single takedown on Brooks (and he had two matches to do it)... looking at those results I have to conclude that DT was simply not at his best
  20. First, just stating, I like the rule changes. Fully in support of all of them. Nor do I care if the reversal is weighted as heavily as a takedown. Just providing conversation. I could see the argument for degree of difficulty. Reversals are far less likely than takedowns. Which results in a higher degree of difficulty to execute, meaning (if logic follows) it should be weighted equally or more.
  21. Franklin RTC Wednesday. Excited to have: Waylon Cressell Warren Central 2x state champ IHSAA State Champion NDHSAA State Champion 2X Fargo All American Marion Co Champ, MIC Champ, Sectional, Regional and Semi State Champ, Rumble on the Red Champ its state week. Let’s be deep and get after. Lots of live. East side bringing a crew.
  22. I agree Taylor didn't look as fit as in the past. His endurance looked fine, but I agree he looked less chiseled. Brooks is legit, though. He's just raw at freestyle, so he can still be scored on more easily the way Taylor was domestically when he was younger. Also, getting scored on by a motivated Valencia doesn't mean much. Valencia scores on everyone in the world in the first minutes. I agree that Brooks is a more desirable opponent from Yazdani's perspective. The underhook game should work better for early scores and Brooks won't be the same threat to score from par terre. But Brooks is very big and has ultra-high conditioning and athleticism for the whole match. If Yazdani is up by less than 5 with 1:30 remaining, he will be in big danger. The big tragedy is that Brooks doesn't have ranking points, so this match could be early in the tournament.

  24. They are just sending Yazdani to Hungary. If he does well, he will to the Olympics. If not, they may have Ghassempour wrestle off Yazdani
