How many people are surprised by the way these 2 wrestlers college careers ended up going? I am not surprised by Lee but I feel Chad never reach his potential. Was Nebraska the right choice as far as wrestling goes for him?

Excuse my bias, but how can you not include 4x state champion Blake Maurer on this list?

Beat the ncaa 3rd placer from Minnesota 10-0 in 1:34 at U23 nationals.. young man is unreal! Just keep adding the too the legend of one of the All time greats of Indiana wrestling!

Awesome job.  The life adjustments you have made to become an world level athlete are paying off. Now go get that Olympic medal.  

Great job young lady, it has been a long time coming.  It may have taken a 3 match battle, and I’m sure didn’t ended the way you would liked due to an injury, but you still put in the work to earned the spot.  Now it’s time to focus on that Olympic medal now. 

Cool award! That's almost as much ink at the Evansville Courier an Press used on an article about Nick Lee. Not wanting to hijack your thread but I find it frustrating that as far as I know ZERO local basketball teams made it to state this year both University of Evansville (D1) and University of Southern Indiana (D2) basketball teams didn't even sniff getting into their respective tournaments. IU, Kentucky, and Notre Dame didn't make the tournament and Purdue is already out. Nick's picture didn't even make the front page??? I know Nick doesn't care about headlines but when you have the State Champions in your town, a National Champion from your town and other schools worthy of some press near by and we're looking at pictures and articles about basketball teams that aren't even from our region??? Very frustrating, Lily King who won Olympic gold in swimming got decent press, she earned it but so did Nick. Very disappointing.

While I am partial to the nickname BTN bestowed upon him, Mr. Technique, I have to admit Hammer has a nice ring to it as well.

Mater Dei will be fine next year. Their JV won the SIAC and their Varsity won state, twice. It's the year after they will be very down and take a few L's.

Looks like they need to get to recruiting

Drew with a 6-1 victory in the MAC finals over Surtin of Missouri.  Hopefully that title and his prior results will secure him a pretty high seed for NCAAs.  He likely would have AAed last year if it wasn’t for the season getting canceled, so its nice to see him get another shot at a good NCAA run. 

Baumann was on the verge last year.  He lost in SV to JaJuan Anderson Friday night, who ended up being the runner up.  Baumann had an early lead and kind of ran out of gas.  He's been on a mission this year, with tonight's match the only one that presented any real danger.  Congrats to Brody!

That was a heck of a match and a nice way to lock up the championship for MD.

My hat goes off to this kid and I had the pleasure of watching him all the way from Texas for 4 years. This kid could’ve went up once he saw Mendez was in his weight class, but instead he stuck around and competed like the warrior he is! He gave Mendez his most competitive match all year and earned his respect. He’s on my Mt. Rushmore of favorite MD wrestlers and I know the kid will go on to do great things in the future. Once again thank you Blake Boarman it was a pleasure watching you compete for past 4 years!

Would be a hassle but void all tickets. Contact each school and have them make a list of names if parents/family (4). Give said list to bankers life and have them generate the blocks of seats. Then said parents/family arrive at will call, give names, and then the let the knock out, drag out battle of the general public getting tickets begin! Also, those who were involved in ticket gate are banned! Fo life. Lol

This is ridiculous, but couldn't they have sent an allotment for each wrestler to the individual schools. Parents/guardians (4 tix of wrestler) would have one style of physical tickets or something and everyone else would have a different type of ticket.

Zain Retherford takes out Reece Humphrey 10-0 in a scrappy match that went almost the full time.  Humphrey made Retherford work, but his finishes were too clean.  

Former IU AA Nate Jackson wins 7-0 over a game Michael Beard.  Beard will likely be the starter for PSU at 197 this year?  

Joe Lee completely obliterates Zach Hartman in :21. A dominating takedown and a quick, hard bow and arrow produces a turn and fall.  I thought that would be a good, tough match for Joe, but he made Hartman, an NCAA Qualifier from Bucknell, look like he didn't belong on the mat.  

Wow!

Nick Lee opens the show with a dominating 10-0 TF over IN 2X Champ and 4X Placer Brandon Wright.  Four solid takedowns and an exposure gets the win early in the 2nd period.
 
 

Ayala over Seltzer 10-9.  Lots of action.  Few points for both early.  Ayala 2 point tilt from a ride and a takedown a little while after widened the gap and put him in the drivers seat.  Seltzer spend most of the rest of the match trying to play catch up with takedowns and cuts.  He got a few but couldn’t quite get there.  Still showed he’s right there with the Pound for Pound guys. 

Really hard to say this early on about a class.
