Gotta love the "I am a victim mentality". One reason I don't push youth tournaments that hard because some of the same people blindly attacking people and organizations are in the corner for some kid showing everyone how not to act. I have always found if you have a problem take it directly to them in a professional manner and not in a off handed passive aggressive way.

I'm excited for the Father/Son matchups of Fremont vs. Angola and Fairfield vs. West Noble. Thanksgiving dinner won't be the same in the Smoker and Marsh families.

UncleJimmy,
1.) Yes #1 vs. #2 in the state obviously helps. The point is if you have 50 do something to make it 100 and then 150 and so on. My first year as head coach here we placed 5th in the conference and had one state qualifier who got hammered Friday night. We were very average on our best day, but we did some simple things different and had a larger crowd than my administration had ever seen - that was straight from them.
2.). You can reuse ideas. Trust me I've been doing the DJ thing for years - my teams love it and so do the students. I have a ton of students in class asking - "Mr. Snyder are you getting that same guy. He was sick". Plus, it isn't hard to come up with cool stuff. I have a whole lot more to unleash and I have been at this for a bit.
3.). Sorry about the Cubs. I'm a bears fan so I understand depression and disappointment.
We are not football or basketball so grow the sport.

KyleM reacted to Darrick Snyder in Boycott Freestyle State
I just wanted to mention that I personally would hate to see Folkstyle State go away. For us at Brownsburg it is an important part of the beggining of our off-season. We certainly don't think it is unnecessary for Cadets and Juniors. We always bring a huge crowd. Our guys always get outstanding competition...our developmental guys get to wrestle on a big stage and if they last long enough get to wrestle a hammer. Our hammers get mutiple matches and eventually tough matches.

We don't know the details of Manville's weight issue. I did hear he was 9ish pounds over, but that was more hearsay. That is all we know, for all we don't know he could have reimbursed the sponsors for the plane ticket and apologized profusely for blowing weight. Again, we don't know any details and can't compare the situations past missing weight.
If this would have happened when another guest state was there I doubt there would be as much talk. However, we had 14 other wrestlers there and many coaches and fans.
The sad thing is we should be talking about Drew Hughes and his performance on the big stage. He was the talk of the evening after the event amongst the committee members and others in attendance.

KyleM got a reaction from quinnsDAD in Best class ever ?
The 2005 class would have to be in discussion. Headlined by Reece Humphrey, Angel Escobedo, and Matt Coughlin. All 3 had great college careers while Angel and Reece are both wrestling for USA. Scott Kelly went undefeated to win a title, Nick Corpe won a title with his one loss coming at team regionals if I remember right. Orrin Kleinhenz won without a loss, and Chris Kasten won a title with one loss. And then you have the big fellow, Lynn Panko, who celebrated an undefeated season at 215 with a backflip after the match.

I was thinking of a certain wrestling mom from a certain South Bend high school...I don't want to name drop on here, but does anybody else know who I'm referring to?...Her voice is so piercing at Al Smith, at EC (formerly Merrillville) SS, everywhere...
