  1. I beat a 1 seed as a 4 my senior year at SS....lol glad I can feel included now
  2. It is an absolute shame when politics gets in the way of good, ole fashioned competition. Reminds me of the Moscow Olympics boycott in the 1980s.
  3. Don't they announce the Academic All-State guys some point on Saturday at state?
  4. I would want to say Whitko off the top of my head. I remember they had some solid teams for a short stretch circa 2008-2010.
  5. I just want the family genetics that the Robinsons have lol
  6. All I know is that Carroll and Garrett will have very good showings this weekend.
  7. My man Gelen Robinson would be my pick as best big man ever. That Robinson family is just a group of professional athletes. It blows my mind. Also, O'Brien comes in at a close 2nd place, based upon becoming a professional athlete after wrestling. Gelen will obviously be a big NFL prospect once his career at Purdue is done.
  8. Great way to deflect and blame it on a generation..... That excuse is getting old
  9. I agree with you on that one! I figured that's what you meant!
  10. So the kid who got hit in the face with a chair thrown by a grown man is the wimp in this situation?
  11. I could still make 140 given a couple of days
  12. Yeah... No big deal. Only the most prestigious university in the western hemisphere.
  13. The literal worst part of being a wrestling-person living in the mecca of high school basketball We never get any love!
  14. I'd be willing to guarantee Trent McCormick would be up near the top ten. Obviously don't have their exact numbers, but I think he would crack the top ten easily.
  15. Good for Nick! Even though I do wish we could see him wrestle in Indiana one more time, I feel that he wouldn't really get challenged in Indiana this year. Obviously Chad Red beating him last year was the exception. I like the route though, get really really really really really good at Free Style instead of wasting your time on Folk and then having to play catch-up after the Folk season is over.
  16. Do we know if the younger Van Horn has an extremely receding hairline like his brother?
  17. Tsirtsis v Quiroga, Micic v Lee to name a few. I don't know how much you guys on here got into it, but last year's matchup between Brandon James v Joe Lee was a decently hyped up match. Especially since James could only defeat Lee by a few points at the Ball State duals. I knew going into the state finals that Joe Lee had a legitimate shot at beating the dominant James.
  18. Not trying to get political on here, but how is someone talking about the economic demographics for schools in this state a "Bernie Sanders voter?" I don't see a correlation at all. I don't see a problem with what leaveitonthemat had to say about this. Is there any correlation to wrestling success and the economically disadvantaged schools in the inner cities? (think Fort Wayne public schools, Muncie, the Region, and Indy public schools) Because all of the powerhouse teams in Indiana that I can think of off the top of my head (Mater Dei, Cathedral, Perry Meridian, Mishawaka, Penn, Yorktown, and others) seem to be located in more affluent school districts or are privately run schools. Any answer on why this could be? I'm sure there are a few urban, inner-city schools that see success in wrestling, but don't see the same successes they have in football, basketball, and track & field.
  19. Gonna take Brown over Coy in the finals this weekend for my upset!
  20. You guys are drinking some really good kool-aid if you think Red would major Lee! Really!! Do you guys watch wrestling? Honestly. Red is a superstar, don't get me wrong. He would be on my Mt. Rushmore of Indiana wrestlers. However, Lee is not the type of wrestler that would get majored in a state finals match. I think the match would be a toss-up, it could go either way. But I think its irresponsible as a wrestling fan/coach to say that Chad Red would Major Lee. Get outta here with that nonsense.
  21. I agree with busstogate LOL I always thought it was quite hilarious when dudes would show up to weigh-ins wearing women's underwear. In the famous words of Chris Carter "C'mon Man!"
  22. Little birdie told me that he has something wrong with either his back or his leg. I think it is one of those two, someone correct me if I'm wrong. But yeah, I heard from a decent source that he would have to take the season off due to the bodily issues he is having. Didn't know if it was for real, but obviously it was. Sucks for such a great wrestler and kid to miss a crucial season in his career. Chin up Nick! From one Lee to another, get well soon!
  23. If Red gets through this season undefeated and gets that 4th title to his name, no doubt that he becomes a top-5 guy all-time in Indiana. However, it's unfortunate that we have hindsight knowing that Escobedo, Howe, and JTsirtsis winning their NCAA titles clouds our vision of who is truly the best Indiana HIGH SCHOOL wrestler. But if we keep college accomplishments out of the convo, I would have to say hands down that Andrew Howe is the best wrestler in Indiana history. Just my opinion though.
  24. Surprised nobody mentioned Gelen Robinson! This dude is the epitome of awesome multi-sport athlete and you know for a fact he was feared on the football field, wrestling mat, and the track. He could do it all. IMO, he is the scariest of anyone who has come through Indiana.
  25. I've had this conversation a few times with some very knowledgable wrestling people. I guess I'm just curious to know how good of a chance Riley Lefever would have to be a stud at the Division-I level of wrestling? We all know he has an awesome set of skills for a bigger wrestler and dominates at his level. But I'm curious to know how well his current skill set would translate to the D-I level. Obviously this is all hypothetical, but I would love some insight from my fellow wrestling fans.
