Does Parris cement himself as the Indiana GOAT if he medals in Paris? Dude is racking up quite the resume comparative to our other legends. Tsirtsis, Angel, Red, Howe, Lee, Mendez, et. al never made an Olympic Squad, just saying.

BIAS WARNING:
Went to Garrett High School. I had to do some hard thinking given what happened last weekend in Evansville with Mr. Leech as well as Clayton Fielden from a few years ago.. but the best wrestler from my school is still my brother, Hayden Lee:
-2x Indiana Place Winner (3rd & 6th)
-Ohio State Champ
-NAIA National Champ
-Super 32 - 8th Place
-Best winning percentage in school history
-Pinned Nick Lee at the 2011 IHPO

As a former wrestler of Joe's back in his Garrett days, I almost forgot this pic existed!!!! HA! Wanna say this pic was on the old website before he made Indianamat.

If this is really how it works.... that is pretty dumb. Par for the course for the IHSAA.

are you insinuating that the IHSAA State Tournament series is the reason why Indiana does not perform as well as the states you mentioned at the next level?
There are elements of our tourney that may be responsible for our lack of success comparative to those other states, yes, I wholeheartedly believe that.

Are you kidding me!?
This is the most badass, and miserable, 4 weeks of the year.
I feel blessed my boys have this opportunity to try and advance week after week.
Make it through and get rewarded with the next tournament where it becomes tougher and tougher to advance.
No safety-net wrestlebacks, win or your crushed. Misery or relief.
It is not for the soft.
This is what makes placing in Indiana really mean something.
Yet the PA, NJ, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan wrestlers perform better at the next levels than do Indiana guys... no one seems to have a good answer as to why that is the case.

How many current CP varsity wrestlers went to elementary and middle school in the CP school jurisdiction? I’d be curious about teams like Brownsburg, CG, and MD too.
Transfer portal hittin' all sports at all levels these days....

This has always been a thing with EMD, Cathedral, and other private schools going back 20+ years when it comes to wrestling... We now live in the age of the "Super Team" with Brownsburg, Crown Point, and Center Grove competing for the best wrestlers... This happens at smaller school systems as well
I don't blame parents at all for sending their kids to schools that get better competition, and its even easier now that a lot of people can work from home...
That working from home element is going to be a huge contributor to this becoming more normal. I just never saw the appeal of moving full family and changing jobs, pinning all of your hopes on a teenager's potential to be a good athlete. Crazy when you really start to break it down and peal at the layers! But maybe I'll realize that as my children get older and I want to do the same sort of thing.

I'm sure most of us on here can relate to you in some way, shape, or form. Well said, sir..

Dusty Keef.... for those of you older guys who remember him. Chico Adams, was a good one, too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember Jarred Brooks had a killer final year. State champ and Super 32 Champ beating Nathan Tomaselo. Not many of our Indiana guys have been able to pull that one off.

The Alliance Top Gun Tournament in Ohio.

Tis the season to send lots of guys on to regional! You love to see it!

Hey Y2, do you have an old pic of our wrestling "balcony" room that we used to have at Garrett? For those that don't know, at Garrett, we didn't always have a real wrestling room. We used the main gym balcony and a curtain as our room. Go figure they add in a real one after I graduated.

I'll never forget the cheesy team shirts circa 2007-2009 that basically had the lyrics for Fort Minor's "Remember the Name."
