He would wreck most of the 125ers in the ufc as well...he trains with a good friend of mine James Lee and he's really molding into a elite fighter

FCFIGHTER170 reacted to Y2CJ41 in Indiana's 'middle class' in wrestling
Two points
1. What has prompted events to allow JV teams in the first place? Is it the lack of full teams or do we have way too many events in the first place? I know in our case we get asked late in the fall when teams realize they will need another team for their event and can't fill it.
2. This is really a case of the rich get richer. Our kids now get a year or two of about 15 varsity level matches before becoming a varsity A wrestler. This helps us tremendously as there is very little adjustment from JV to varsity for our new starters.

FCFIGHTER170 reacted to Ed Pendoski in Indiana's 'middle class' in wrestling
But isn't that the argument of why we shouldn't send JV to varsity tourney?
If the 1a, 2a, 3a schools don't have a full lineup, I'm sure losing to MD's JV isn't something attractive to the athletic football kid who is on the fence about wrestling or not.
The only team that benefits from sending JV to varsity would be the programs in the top 10% and it comes at the cost of the middle/lower class of our state's programs.
.....and please don't mention the name Nosko. That guy crushed us in matches that mattered at team state two years in a row! ha!

FCFIGHTER170 got a reaction from navy80 in Mooresville Sectional Thoughts
Mooresville is unreal...I'm ready to see how 170 shakes down...Carson is a stud 10th grader that will be amongst killers.. Carson vs ciccerelli rematch will be good if they meet in finals of their respective sectional final...the first match was a lot Closer than 7-1 score (desperation throw didn't help the score) ... ciccarelli is as swoll and well coached as it gets as well...no matter what Mooresville is gonna be the last stop for some damn good wrestlers...

FCFIGHTER170 reacted to Caleb Spires in Indiana's Most Dominant Big Man, EVER?
Obviously I'm too young to know the all-time greats but I will say I saw something special in Parris his Friday night against Kleimola as a freshman. I instantly thought he'd have a shot at being one of the best in indiana history and headed toward a resume of a 1-loss(by a point to an undefeated senior state champ), 3xer I'd say he would be one of the all-time Indiana greats--and not just of the big men.

FCFIGHTER170 reacted to Coach Peck in Best Dual Meet Ever?
This was in the Sectional..not a Dual Meet. The Sectional score was not close, but things did deterioate very quickly in this match due to a official that was extremely poor for everine all day long. With about 30 seconds left he penalized Gross for stalling which would have DQed him because of other penalties on the chart. When he figured out what he had done he did not say that he was taking it off. Instead he claimed he never made the call. Gross was ahead by 1 or 2 points with about 5 seconds left. When the referee blew his whistle Jeremy charged to try to get a takedown. The gym was loud and the buzzer was hard to hear, but the Official should havehas a clue that the match was over. He let it go probably 5-10 seconds past the buzzer. We got a takedown but it was clearly after the buzzer. Before the Official stopped them Grosses brother came out of the stands to the mat. People from the stands and benches poored onto the mat. It took awhile for order to be restored. When thigns got sorted out the people in charge decided to clear the gym before the heavyweights wrestled. The only people whio were supposed tostay were the scorers. timrers, school Officials, the Official, and the two heavyweights. It took awhile, but they cleared the gym, except there were two people sitting in the bleachers. They happened to be my Mom and Dad. I saw Shenandoahs AD go to them and have a conversation then motion for the Sheriff's deputy, who was working that day, to come up there. There was another short conversationa and then the AD and the Deputy returned to the floor and we finnished the Sectional. Later, I found out that the AD had told my DAd that everyone needed to leave the gym, but my Dad told him that he had paid his money and that he was staying. The AD said that he would have to have the Deputy remove them if they did not leave (my Mom wanted to go, but she stayed with my Dad). My Dad repeated his earlier statement (quite calmly according to my Mom). The AD motioned for the Deputy and told the Deputy that he needed to remove my Mom and Dad from the gym. My Dad looked at the Deputy and told him that he was not going anywhere. The AD looked at the Deputy and the Deputy told the AD, "This is Mr. Peckinpaugh he can stay." They left my Mom and Dad alone to watch the heavyweight match which they had paid to watch.

Thank you. Silas has a relentless work ethic on & off the mat. I got my first real look at Christian during his match with Cicerelli during that last incredible dual. Very impressive brother. Admittedly, I'm bias towards Bane coming out of our SS at 160 due to our friendship with him and his family. As well as the potential of our (Shenandoah) 160 Josh Gee who can't be overlooked by anyone. But brother.....aside from Christian's accomplishments at 160, the success he's had against flat out LEGIT 170's speak volumes for his capabilities this year. I'm very interested to see how the chips fall regarding that weight class at our gauntlet of a SS! I definitely feel he has the tools to get it done in a big way. Let's face it......they'll be some guys in multiple weight classes that don't punch a ticket coming out of New Castle that undoubtedly (my opinion) would podium if elsewhere. The same could be said for other weight classes elsewhere of course. Gonna make for an exciting run! Starting 1 match at a time next weekend

Earlier this year I was officiating a match and wrestler had a kid in a headlock. When it turned potentially dangerous I stopped the match and gave the wrestler his 3 points. The coach called me to the table and I pointed out that it had turned potentially dangerous he said that he agreed with the call TOTALLY! But that if he did not call me to the table then he would have to deal with a mother up in the stands. I asked him if I should just stand there for a minute then shake my head NO! He said absolutely that would work, but as I went back to continue the match I could not stop laughing.

I love it when some parent complains about the "Big Shot" from Ohio. I let them go on awhile and then I say, "Are you aware that he offciiated at the Olympics?" Normally that shuts them up, but I did have one person say, "Well, he should stay at the Olympics." I have never had anyone say it, but I think a good comeback to my Olympics question would be...."What did he officiate.......curling?"

Story number 2....
I moved to Indiana from Ohio in May of 1996. In the spring of 1997 I was asked to give the annual freestyle rules clinic to the ISWA Membership. At the time, clubs that hosted a tournament were required to have a referee attend the rules clinic and a pairier attend the pairing clinic. In those days we had a lot more referees and pairers so the clinics were very well attended.
About a week or two after I gave the clinic I go referee a local club tournament. I was officiating a Cadet bout when the match ended in a fall. The mom of the losing wrestler marched to the scorer's table and informed me that I called the fall too quickly. She added very proudly that she attended the clinic and they brought in some big shot from Ohio to go over the rules. She told me the big shot from Ohio said that a fall in the Cadet age group was 3 seconds. She went on to say that had I attended the clinic I would have known that and got the call right.
I tried to explain that there is no level of wrestling where there is a 3 second fall other than professional wrestling. She wasn't having any of it. I finally asked her if I looked vaguely familiar to her. She still didn't make the connection.

It seems "Finish Him" is a new catch phrase for some parents. I had flash backs to Mortal Combat on the Sega.
