Friday before semi-state my senior year. Coach Balash gathers us around after a tough weight cut practice. And beckons to us all:
-"Do you want a cookie? "
-My initial thought was, Yeah coach, I'd love one.
-Then he continued to say, "Or...DO YOU WANT A COOKIE!!!"
-At this point everyone is very confused.
-Then he says, "do you have to go to the bathrooom, or ...DO YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM!!"
-No comprehension from the team.
-Next, he says "do you want to go to state, or ....DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR BUTT DOWN TO STATE!?!?!?"
 
Coach Balash had the greatest quotes:
-Every season started with, "You guys have a lot of potential, and do you know what potential means? You haven't done JACK SQUAT yet."
-"The harder you work the luckier you get."
-"Do I look like your mom? If so someone needs to slap your dad."

Fabian Chavez of Mishawaka anytime we were having one of them legendary "OH my God" practices would always yell "Leave your body" no one really knew what it meant but we damn sure started working harder or he would beat us down.

Seriously all this fuss about a kid missing one tourney to better his future, while there is no shame for holding your kid back for purely athletic reasons.  Come on people its just a sport.

My kiddo Baxter Annakin has decided to "retire" from wrestling his senior year. He as had too many concussions and values his brain more than one more year on the mat.  He has loved wrestling ever since he joined Castle Wrestling Club as an 11-yr old.  It was 100% his decision, which I think is important to mention.  His Mom and I were crushed, but very proud at the same time.  Concussions are a scary thing and not to be taken lightly.  He will be at Castle's matches rooting on his teammates, especially his senior class.  I've become a big wrestling fan as a result of Baxter's involvement in this great sport, and an even bigger fan of Baxter after watching him grow into a fine young man.
Good luck to all our wrestlers out there this year.  May they stay injury free.

Gee,  I don't think I'll be criticizing the #TheCounty and there excess usage of ##### this season.  I personally don't  want to get Dilly Dillied.

OK I hate the new uniforms.  We were called for numerous technical violations for "grabbing the uniform" where the shirt sleeve is and where the bottom of the shorts are.  These uniforms were supposed to be "tight fitting" but they are very loose fabric and kids are getting their fingers and hands stuck in them.  I hope they rescind this rule quickly or stop calling the violations due to loose fitting uniforms.  Any one else having this issue?
