  1. That Garcia kid is terrible and would never place. There does that help you get things back in balance.
  2. Yes. Semi-state usually messes up his rankings a good bit, but in many cases it due to a higher ranked guy taking out a lower ranked one.

  4. Mike you and the other rankers always do a steller job with the information you receive. But sometimes you don’t get enough info or the wrestler doesn’t face enough big names to make your list. Could you add some insight into the wrestlers who have flew under the rankings radar until this past weekend. Wrestlers that didn’t make your final rankings or possibly even watch list, but have put themselves in a good situation at Semi-State due to a winning their Regional. Those who have really improved their stock (Eli Stock pun intended).
  5. Speaking of HWT this is a prett big time High School match between two youth level World Champions. https://www.flowrestling.org/events/6097646-apple-valley-vs-simley/videos?playing=6098537 Not sure if you need FloPro to view this or not.
  6. Who had more former wrestlers in their lineup?
  7. Brackets were out. He probably got those reversed as he was filtering through them. But, yes several great ticket round matches. Is there any potential repeat matchups from last years ticket round?
  8. Not how it was suppose to play out on paper but very entertaining dual. PSU found a way.
  9. Other than keeping Mills/Garcia loser away from Rooks I’m not sure most people were hoping much more seperetion was possible. Just no way, base on Regional placement, all those guys you listed would somehow escape each other and also miss Rooks until the semi’s. 126 was just crazy deep, so a few top guys were going to have to get the nasty draw.
  10. The Lee vs Mckenna match will be the swing match for the whole dual. It will also likely determine if Lee gets to top seed at the Big10 tournament or not.
  11. It fixes the possibility of a better order for the top 4 placers. But that method doesn’t help solve one of the main arguments these guys are making for wrestlebacks. That the potential high state placer who took 2nd in regional to a stud will possibly draw a stud #1 in the ticket round. Thus eliminating one of them from state placement. You're not solving that issue unless you either have wrestle-backs or ignore the regional placements all together and seed the event. Though the second method would draw more complains from coaches.
  12. Well they say they randomly select the pattern that is followed from the possible variations. Not sure who or what actually randomly makes the selection though.
  13. Wrestling Scholar, One thing tennis does have going in multiple sets to determine the clear winner. Similar to golf have multiple holes. Yes a second opportunity against a different opponent would be useful for them too, but having more than one set is helpful in some ways that wrestling doesn’t have. At least tennis got to hold onto their separate team tournament though it’s a little bit of a mixed up system too In a different comparison track/swimming advancing the best placements/time per heat so even if best guys end up in the same heat they both have a opportunity to advance. In a way wrestling has that by advancing more than the top finisher, but in a different way track/swimming has something like wrestleback since it give some early race losers a chance to advance as well. Gymnastics a similar situations of advancing the best overall competitors since it’s based on scores rather than head to head. I guess each individual sport has its good and bad aspect to it when it comes to advancing whoever truest competes the best that day.
  14. Had that happen once at Mooresville Tournament. A middle weight bridged hard and flipped his opponent over. The heel of the opponents foot came down right on the refs head as he was looking for the pin. The ref just went out for a second and then came to a little shaken up. He was back in there a couple matches later without an issue.
  15. See this post: http://indianamat.com/index.php?/topic/54265-regional-seeding/&do=findComment&comment=255015
  16. Good luck trying to understand California’s single class gerrymander system where the number of advancing kids depends on what district you are in.

  18. The new rule that has changed some scramble stalemate into possible back exposure has hurt Hiel some. He used to be able to defend most attacks from closest competition by working to that leg scramble stalemate. Now the same defense against those guy would occasionally putting him in a danger of losing multiple points. So he either doesn’t use that defense which changes his neutral style to a rarely scoring blocking off style. Or he goes to that scramble defense but it causes him to occasionally bail leading to him giving up a takedown. It was a pretty open weight class last year when Heil edged out a way to win, but the new rule set has caused some others to by pass him as he adjust to thing.
  19. Yes, two first period pins and a injury default.
  20. Ask TripleB on that one. His sectional didn’t go long.
  21. Regionals are the only brackets you can pre-determine before their official release occurs. Just pair up the other sectional with yours in reverse placement order. 1/4, 2/3, 3/2, & 4/1. Minus anyone withdrawing (injury, illness, etc.) you can figure out the possible brackets for each round yourself. Semi-state and state are the only unpredictable ones since 4 areas feed in, so the opening round matchups are randomly decided.
  22. It’s not seeding it separation criteria based on placement. So don’t look at the seeding position. Just make sure the separation occurs correctly. One half: 1st from Sectional A takes on the 4th from Sectional B. The 3rd from Sectional A takes on the 2nd from Sectional B Other half: The 2nd from Sectional A takes on the 3rd from Sectional B The 4th from Sectional A takes on the 1st from Sectional B. Also, it has to be set up 1 & 3 and 2 & 4 from the same sectional on the same half of the bracket. As long as the bracket is in some variation of that pattern it works. They do it that way rather than 1 on same side as his sectional 4 to ensure that the two 1’s won’t meet in the semi-finals.
  23. Dumb non-voluntary work always getting in the way. You should really tell them you have more important things to do. Thanks for the hard work Maligned. Always greatly appreciated.
