  1. I want to make a joke, but they have already jumped so many light years into the future that it wouldn’t t be fair to do so.
  2. His front headlock could “drop” most of the competition.
  3. Per his Wikipedia page. (Not always the best source but a quick one) Bonnar was born in Hammond, Indiana and raised in Munster, Indiana, attending Munster High School.[2] Bonnar had an extensive background in combat sports, beginning with Wrestling when he was 10 years old, Tae Kwon Do at age 12, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu at age 22, and then added Boxing and Muay Thaiwhen he was 24 years old. He earned his black belt in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 16 and was a two-time Golden Gloves Champion in the Super Heavyweight division. He attended and graduated from Purdue University in 2000, earning a degree in Sports Medicine.[3]
  4. Anton Talamantes of FW Dwenger?!?!?. One loss as a sophomore. Undefeated as a junior and senior.
  5. Sure it was the pre-WWII era of wrestling but I submit Bloomington High Schools Richard Voliva.
  6. A seeding Meeting Bingo Card. I guarantee that one will have some amazing spots on it.
  7. Great list but, how you gonna missed the classic "I don't have a dog in this fight" comment.
  8. Caleb did the Connersville Classic steal your dial-up connection?
  9. They could have sent someone to Ohio to ask him.
  10. Not HWT but we had a few years of multiple 220 (or whatever weight class it was at a certain year) that were nationally ranked. Sadly most of the time they were just too much of a “tweener” to make it to far at the college level.
  11. With some bracket drawss the Jeff Classic may give us a little insight into a few weight classes.
  12. Center Grove up for a long road trip in next couple years???
  13. Well at least more accurate than the last persons attempt at making an alternative ranking to what Indianamat had already offer.
  14. Now if they at use some type of separate criteria for at least the likely Top 4, Connersville will officially join the 21st century. Maybe it could be just as simple as returning state placers, then returning state qualifiers, then returning semi-state qualifiers. At this point that maybe more telling than many records anyway. I always appreciated Connersville not seeding such a huge event and think that was part of the tournaments nostalgia. Not to mention seeding mostly based on records is way to iffy at this point in the year. So I’m in no way a proponent of seeding a ton of guys for this one. But I do think separating some of the very top guys (maybe top 2 or 4) is still best for the the fans, the teams, and individual wrestlers. Sucks for your team score and the wrestler to be put out in the wrestlebacks early by what would have been a possible finalist due drawing another stud early on the top side. I’d say going with something pretty objective like just the previous years state tournament results or even previous years Connersville Classic high placement would be a simple way of avoiding those nasty matchup in the opening rounds.
  15. I was told by someone from Owen Valley that Mcgraw wasn’t wrestling this year. Could have been Mills or Hale.
  16. Glory for the Tigers at 125, but still a solid win for IU over 23rd ranked Princeton. 22-13 125: Jacob Moran (IND) over (PRIN) (Def.) 133: Henry Porter (IND) over Sean Pierson (PRIN) (MD 12-4) 141: Cayden Rooks (IND) over Daniel Coles (PRIN) (Dec 12-9) 149: Graham Rooks (IND) over Rocco Camillaci (PRIN) (Dec 4-1) 157: Quincy Monday (PRIN) over Derek Gilcher (IND) (Dec 8-4) 165: Blaine Bergey (PRIN) over Tyler Lillard (IND) (Dec 3-2) 174: Donnell Washington (IND) over Kole Mulhauser (PRIN) (Dec 5-3) 184: Nate Dugan (PRIN) over Drayton Harris (IND) (MD 12-4) 197: Luke Stout (PRIN) over Nick Willham (IND) (SV-1 3-1) 285: Jacob Kaminski (IND) over Travis Stefanik (PRIN) (Dec 3-1)
  17. It’s actually Friday to Saturday, but I believe they are given course walk through time the day prior.
  18. I’m still hoping the IHSAA puts some focus on the 2024 finals location really soon. With over a year out they can likely work with a good venue to reach an agreement that can still give the qualifiers a solid experience.
  19. Ah but you gotta take into consideration one may have faired well in their fall sport.
  20. Now the running story is he may not end up wrestling this HS season to focus on preparing for his college career. I’m assuming that means he’s considering putting in the body development to get to a college HWT body if he doesn’t think 197 is a possibility at that level. Not sure how much more bulk he can put on but adding general weight and developing more HWT technique/positioning awareness is possible.
  21. Tell me about it. I fought that one for years at the MS level. Can’t even get teams in the same region if the state on the same page with that and then add in if, when, and how much for the growth allowance.
  22. Middle School is the Wild West of wrestling. Good luck ever nailing down anything close to a consistent set of rules.
  23. He ran through the Fresh-Soph field today. I’m guessing Tom Ryan has a plan to optimize his team title chance with how he uses them both over the next few years at 133-141.
