infowrestling reacted to Holden in This sport is about LOVE!
All,
I want to share a story about the kind of people we have in this sport. Last Saturday Greenfield had a young lady injured in a match at New Palestine High School. It was a head and neck injury that required her to be transported to the hospital via ambulance. She and her parents had never been through something like this before and were justifiably shaken.
On Tuesday of this week I was called down to the athletic office. We had received a package. It was a box of flowers addressed to the young lady who was injured. They were sent from the Columbia City Wrestling Program. I know it's a little thing and some people may not understand, but it touched me and my program.
People think wrestling is about working hard, sweating, bleeding, beating on people, etc..., but it's not. It's above LOVING each other. I wan't to thank Columbia City for giving my program an example of how people are supposed to love each other.
Thank you!

It was a lot of fun to talk with coaches and refs tonight in a relaxed atmosphere. This was a great idea and should be done around the state!

infowrestling reacted to decbell1 in Attention FW Semi-State Coaches: 1st Annual Media Day - October 30th in Decatur
In conjunction with IndianaMat and WZBD Radio, Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy-Zelt High School Wrestling Weekly will be hosting the first annual High School Wrestling Media Day for all schools in the Fort Wayne Semi-State as part of the kickoff of the new season of our show on October 30th.
All coaches from the semi-state are invited to the Pavilion at Cross Creek in Decatur from 5-7 p.m. for a free buffet meal, sponsored by IndianaMat and WZBD, and the opportunity to network with other coaches in the area. Coaches will also have the opportunity to meet and do interviews with print and television media personnel throughout the night.
This is a coaches-only event and it will be followed by the first episode of High School Wrestling Weekly, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Double Eagle Clubhouse Grille next door. All coaches are invited to stay for the show. You can be a guest on the show or simply enjoy the show as part of the audience and enjoy the meal and drink specials as you listen.
Please RSVP to me at decbell1@gmail.com or 260-205-6984. Let me know if you have any questions!
For those considering joining us for this event, I'd like to offer a glimpse of who will be attending and what will be offered.
-Dean Pantazi from Fort Wayne's ABC affiliate, WPTA, will be present and looking for feature stories for the upcoming season.
-A member of the WANE sports team (Channel 15.1 CBS in Fort Wayne) will be there to interview coaches.
-A representative from the Journal Gazette will be there to meet coaches and talk about story ideas for the upcoming season.
-IHSAA official Tyrone Wilson will be on hand to talk about some of the rule changes for the upcoming season.
-General Heavy Handz will be there and recording a podcast.
-Your Indiana rankings coordinator, Mike Reiser, will be in attendance to learn about the guys from your team that he should put on his radar.
-Our Fort Wayne Semi-State rankings coordinator, Caleb Spires, will be there to help shape his watch list for 2022-23.
-Members of the IHSWCA Team State Seeding Committee will be there to learn more about the teams who are already in this year's event, but also the teams who are hopeful of winning a final spot in this year's Team State.
-Y2 will be there.
-Pat Culp will be present and taking questions and offering advice when it comes to various big tournaments on the horizon and what information coaches will need to submit over the course of the year. She is also a great point of contact for girls wrestling in Indiana.
-Representatives from college programs, RTCs and private training facilities will also be in attendance.
-This event is also going to be a great way to mix and network in terms of building a JV schedule, filling your varsity schedule and sharing information.
I am going to attempt to build an attendance list as people officially RSVP.

Thank you! Braxton is doing well now! He did completely dislocate his elbow out of socket and was able to get in set back in once he got to the ER. We are glad it was nothing more with how bad it was at the moment!
Thanks to all who have reached out and checked in!

You must eat at The Eagle. It has fried chicken and some of the best sides I have ever had! I go at least once every other week!

infowrestling reacted to Coach Duncan in State Tickets - Dumb
He clearly said they would go on sale at 10:00 p.m. last night, even when several people on the Zoom call questioned it, he said 10:00 p.m. He also said all the documents discussed on the Zoom call would be on our IHSAA dashboard......well they are not.

Just want to say congratulations to Oak Hill’s coach Andrew King on his 500th dual meet victory today! It’s been an honor to coach under him for the past 5 seasons. I think he might of slipped in the top 10 all time?

Hands down, Yorktown is the most improved team we have wrestled all year. Coach Stephenson and crew have the Tigers going back in the right direction again.

infowrestling reacted to base in Where are the Results??
Lots of wrestling action yesterday in the opening weekend of IHSAA wrestling - and no results entered?!
Come on coaches - surely you can ask one of your assistants, managers or even wrestlers to enter at least the team scores after your matches? Joe has developed and provided an excellent free resource to support and grow the wrestling fan base.. and yet those of us that are remote have no way of tracking the scores week to week.
As a wrestling community, if we want to get more support and reporting coverage - then we have to help ourselves out. It should take about 5 minutes (maybe 15 if you are a slow typer and you are willing to enter all the individual results) to go through your scorebook and hit the Submit button. Maybe someone can get some support from Robert Faulkens to encourage coaches to enter results for the betterment of the sport?
