  1. Don't know if this will be an issue for anyone or not but the date listed on page 6 of the procedures doc says Wednesday, February 20, 2021. February 20, 2021 is this Saturday. Some coaches may be confused and miss the Wednesday deadline thinking they have until Saturday.
  2. 3. I was told the Jasper AD sent out information that there would be an additional 2 pounds
  4. Spectators: Each “Qualifying Participant” will be allowed 2 Tickets ONLY! Tickets are $12.00 Each. Tickets will be purchased at the gate. The Athletic Director of each school with qualifying participants must submit the 2 names for each participant by Thursday at NOON EST! . All Spectator Seating will be in the Upper Sections only. Principal and Athletic Director will sign in at the main gate. Team Admission: The number of Non-Participants (coach, assistant coach, student manager, etc.) allowed admission will be based upon the number of “Qualifying Participants”. 1 – 3 Participants = 2 Non-Participants 4 – 7 Participants = 3 Non-Participants 8 or more Participants = 4 Non-Participants 5th Place Alternates will be allowed admission. Non-participant numbers will be based solely on 1st - 4th Place finishers in the regional.
  5. I have a question about this rule: V. UNDERCLASSMAN INJURY & PROCEDURAL INELIGIBILITY PROVISION A. If a current sophomore or junior who reached at least semi-state level (4A, 3A, 2A) or at least regional level (1A) in the previous season is a) injured or b) transfer or otherwise non-disciplinarily ineligible and does not wrestle at all at sectional, his team will be given his previous season’s points—minus the team’s individual average times 0.75. Southridge moved from 2A to 1A this year. We had a sophomore this year who was injured and did not wrestle at sectional. He went to semistate last year. When figuring his points this year I have two questions. Do we use the points from his previous season that he earned as a 2A wrestler or would he get credit for points he would have gotten for getting to the semistate 2nd round. It is only 1 point difference but it may make a difference. Also when figuring the team's individual average times 0.75 are we getting the teams individual average by dividing the teams total by 14 due to 14 weightclasses or in our case we only filled 13 of 14 classes at sectional would we divide by 13?
  6. The injunction pending review by a county judge changes everything.
  7. The IHSAA said all regionals and semistates will be on trackwrestling
  8. Question about the Mooresville regional. They are listed as a category 7 regional. The chart only goes up to category 6. So what's up with that?
  9. That is what I thought. I was aware of this change but the rules still say to do it by blind draw.
  10. Where is the rule located that says we draw in those rat-tails into the pseudo 7 and 8 seeds?
  11. In a sectional with 8 or less teams they use a 8 man bracket. Here are 2 sectionals with less than 8 teams, both have 7 teams entered. For those sectionals with 7 teams their would be one bye per weight. Here is how it is scored. A bye is worth 2 points only if the wrestler wins his next match. A forfeit, pin, injury default, or disqualification is worth 2 bonus points. A tech fall is worth 1.5 bonus points. A major decision is worth 1 bonus point. A decision does not earn a bonus point. Each time you win in the championship part of the bracket you get 2 advancement points. Each time you win in the consolation part of the bracket you get 1 advancement point. There is no advancement point awarded for winning a placement match. Placement points 16 = champion 12 = 2nd place 9 = 3rd place 7 = 4th place 5 = 5th place 3 = 6th place Placement points are awarded as you go, not all together at the end of the placement matches. For example in the championship match both wrestlers will have already received 12 placement points for placing at least 2nd. The winner will receive 4 more placement points and any bonus points they might earn. In a sectional with 9 or more teams no points are scored in the first round. If you have a bye in the first round you will not get any points for winning your 2nd round match. This is the only difference between a 8 man or 16 man bracket.
  12. That is right. Also Heritage Hills is sending their JV. Looks like Gibson Southern varsity is out or mostly out. Southridge senior wrestlers are out.
  13. If I recall correctly this rule is only about 3 to 5 years old. I could be wrong but that is my impression.
  14. Page 12 3. For a wrestler to be eligible for the IHSAA tournament series, their coach must possess an official IHSAA Alpha Master Report which documents weigh-ins for each wrestler they intend to enter into the tournament series. This document is available on the IHSAA website at myIHSAA.net under Resources > Boys Sports > Wrestling. This record must reflect each weigh-in for the wrestler and six (6) qualifying weigh-ins must be present prior to Monday, January 25, 2021. This record, along with the individual weight loss plan generated by the IHSAA Alpha Master Report must be present at the seeding meeting on Monday, January 25, 2021.
  15. It is covered in the 2020-21 IHSAA Winter Bulletin
  16. All weigh ins must be entered.
  17. Jasper's schedule on this website shows they will be at Washington attending the Big 8 conference tournament. The Big 8 conference does not exist anymore. The official Jasper high school athletic webpage show Jasper going to the SIAC tournament.
  18. Where do you see that Jasper is not going to wrestle at the conference tournament? On the Jasper High School athletic website it shows they canceled several events. The SIAC is not one of them that is listed as canceled.
  19. Are those results for Jay County? Did they really lose to themselves on Dec 9th 60-9?
  20. Yes, your wrestler could weigh 120 this week and wrestle 120. Then next week weigh 120.2 and wrestle in the 132 class for a match. He can then go back to 120. 15 or more years ago there was a rule about bumping up 2 weight classes and then not being able to go back down to the original class. That is no longer a rule.
