So would the format be freestyle or collegiant?
I am not 100 percent sure, however I believe that the selected format was freestyle. In all honesty I am intrigued either way.

RTC Picks back up tomorrow!
6-7:30pm Enter through door 18
2211 E. 10th St. Hobart Indiana
*MUST HAVE USAW CARD*
Special guest ISWA State Chairman Keith Davison!!
Keith Davison
Many of us know Keith Davison, if not here is a little background on our state chairman. Davison comes to us from the Trojans of Chesterton High School. As a Sophomore, Keith took 3rd in the state at 167lbs. He compiled a record of 32-4. The very next year he moved his way up the podium and finished his Junior season with a State title at 171lbs. He finished with a record of 37-2. Unblemished his senior year with a record of 38-0, he capped his career with another state title. Again at 171lbs. That same year Davison became a Junior Freestyle National Runner-Up. Heading to the Big Ten Davison would pursue his degree and wrestling career for the Badgers of Wisconsin. In 1990 Davison was named Big Ten Freshman of the year. After a sophomore season that he considered subpar, he sat out his junior season in order to move up a weight class in hopes of achieving better results. The move paid off and Davison was an All-American in the next 2 seasons. 3rd in 1993 and 5th in 1994. During the 1994 season Davison would also capture a Big ten title. Davison's 114 career wins rank him 10th in UW wrestling history. The 4 year letter winner would come back to his home town of Chesterton to be an assistant coach for the Trojans. In 2003 he was inducted to the IHSWCA Hall of Fame and in 2014 selected as ISWA's Kid's Coach of the Year. Coach Davison would help coach Chesterton to many state placers and state champions, including his sons Andrew and Lucas. Who are both Big Ten wrestlers as well. Davison still volunteers at Chesterton. Keith Davison was voted in as the state chairman of the ISWA and has instilled that we have wrestling excellence in Indiana. Quote: "I do feel that as an organization we need to focus more of our attention and efforts toward pursuing and expecting wrestling excellence. Having spent forty years in the sport as an athlete, coach and president of our local club coupled with my experience serving on national teams for the past six years, I have a unique perspective which I intend to leverage to help us move forward and re-tool some of our processes." Here at the Hobart RTC we are excited and privileged to have a great wrestling mind in the room. Do not miss out!
Do not let this opportunity slip past you. This man has more than enough wrestling knowledge and talent to share. Oh and I can't leave out how great his personality and sense of humor is. Class act! Going to be a great one.

I thought Cottey was a lock at 106 this year, hadn’t seen or heard much about the Culver kid, Cernus. If Cottey stays at 106 and Cernus moves up to 113 or vice versa, I could see Cottey taking home a title in early 2020
This weight could be very interesting if these returning top placers stay at 106 with possible additions like Sergio Lemley, Cole Solomey, Sam Goin, Logan Frazier, and Cheaney Schoeff. I think Goin is a kid that will be right up there with Cottey and Cernus fighting for a title.

Hammers all around Boarman (Littel & Mendez) Aiden Warren might be around Lee weight again. Cottey at 113 ?
My pick would be Evan Bates at 182 again, a Jr. at upper weight is a good combination.
If I had a confidence poll Top 5
1 being the best shot, 5 the least
1. Bates
2. Ellis
3. Warren
4. Cottey
5. Hall
I like the Bates pick a ton. Of course we can't forget about Donahue and Laplace. Bates is as tough and humble as they come. Warren would have to be my two. Cottey and Hall at the 3-4 and I am not sure If I would have Ellis up there just yet.

I could see most of that list breaking that trend!
I personally don't see it happening next season, who do you have breaking the trend?

@Bigyusm and Jose Diaz also both run a great team on the rise in the Indiana Flash. I know they have a few trips plan and take a few studs in each weight class.

So I did a little digging. The furthest advancing senior was eliminated at regionals, and there were three of them. Sean Johnson of Elkhart Central was eliminated by Aiden Sprague of East Noble, LaDonis Williams FW Northside was eliminated by Colten Weimer of Garrett, and Aye Oo of FW Southside was eliminated by Elliot Cornewell of FW Bishop Dwenger. Oo was runner up in the New Haven Sectional, while Williams of FWNS was 3rd. Oo beat him 13-4. Johnson was the 3rd place finisher at the Elkhart Memorial Sectional. How far back will they go to fill the lineup? Oo was 26-7, Williams was 26-9, and Johnson was 31-12.
I appreciate the information! How long did it take for ya to break that down?

Curious to see who will represent Indiana at 106lbs. Not a single senior qualified for any of the four semi-state brackets.

Note Cayden Rooks lost in the ticket round his freshman to some kid named Asa, in OT that. Score was 7-3 TB-1. He was 37-1 at the time of the loss. Doesn't change the #'s on your list, but interesting nonetheless....
I agree, very interesting. Impressive to say the least.

#4 Giovanni Diaz, 34-2, Wheeler, 11 vs #17 Kamariyon Nelson, 27-9, Brownsburg, 9
Although Diaz has only suffered losses to #1 Moran and #3 Bettich at 120, I still think Nelson remains a threat. Brownsburg has an elite schedule that has lead to the Freshman suffering a few more losses than some had expected. Something to keep in mind is that Nelson owns a 12-2 MD victory over Diaz in the IHPO finals at 109 lbs back in September. Can he do it again? What are your predictions?

I don't see it very close. If Brewer settles his Friday night jitters, it will be a major.
There is no doubt that Brewer is the man to beat, but Jacob Laplace is no cake walk. Laplace is very tough to score on, so a major is very unlikely. I see it being a very competitive, low scoring exchange. IMO the winner of this bout will likely represent the bottom-half bracket under the lights.
Good Luck to Carson and Jake! Embrace it!

Both have had phanominal yes thus far , we seen how the preseason match went, how you think the match would fare now both had a full season to shine?
In my personal opinion, this matchup is a toss up. I think a takedown wins the match. At this stage I'd say both get out from the bottom position leaving it to be settled in the neutral position. I think all could agree Mendez is more technically sound on his feet, however they are both incredibly smooth and Littell brings some horsepower to the party as well.
Good luck to both studs this weekend!

Hobart
Cristian (SO) 120 & Ruben Padilla (FR) 106
Nathan (JR) 126 & Trevor Schammert (FR) 113
There is a lot of young talent for the Hobart staff to play with, not to mention they start Hobart off well making up the first four weights.
All four will be competing in their first ECC semi-state, looking to punch their first ticket to the big show.
