And beyond the Big 10 tournament. What I saw tonight bodes well for Lee going forward.  He is both more judicious in when he takes his shots and still able to wear guys down. Thats a pretty hard combo to beat.
 
Pletcher was bellied out a few times and it took everything he had left to get off bottom in the third. I dont think that gets solved between now and the end of the season.

Another dominating performance by Lee

Yes it was.  Lee's improvement in the top position is unreal.  Pletcher couldn't do anything on bottom after getting that first escape.  Love how Nick didn't blink after giving up the first TD.

Pletcher strikes quick to try and take charge early. But Lee keep the pressure on after that in neutral and top after that.  Pletcher couldn’t keep up.  We have established the BigTen #1 seed. 

Lee’s frosh year I mentioned Lee being the best MD has produced. I believe it’s official official now !

Indiana is on the move this week. Nick Lee moves up to number 5 from number 6. His two impressive wins from the weekend were enough for him to bump above Kollin Moore even though Moore is still undefeated.
 
The big mover is Mason Parris. He jumps 2 spots (from 10th to 8th) after manhandling Cassioppi. In the process he leap frogs Steveson.

The hardest part about this week was figuring out where to put Mason Parris after he #3 pinned Tony Cassioppi of Iowa. I make no bones about the fact that there is an element of prediction to this list, and I'm still not sure if Parris can beat Gable. But I also have to give credit where it's due. The Wolverine sophomore won CKLV, which Gable was not at, and wrestled in the Minnesota dual while Gable did not. He's also got a better pin rate (36.4% to 30%) and a better average time on the mat, not to mention more ranked wins and better quality of competition.

What a weekend for Nick Lee, who pulls into a dead heat with Luke Pletcher heading into their mega showdown on Saturday. After majoring Tristan Moran and pinning Mitch McKee it now leaves them with nine common opponents. Using dual scoring, they have both scored 40 points against those foes, with Pletcher having a better result in five of the four matches. I'm still skeptical that either Lee or Pletcher can go three-for-three against the other, so this all might be a wash.

Your son is looking awesome. I hope this is his year. 

If I remember right, he bumped up a weight to try to win one for his team. Because... that’s what true champs do. He put his career undefeated record on the line for his team. Came up just short. That’s why the kid is even more awesome! 

Do I get partial credit? McKee almost pulled off that head pinch and got pinned instead. 

Just some clarification, it was Wisconsin's trainer that ruled Hilger out after the concussion evaluation. He is seen going to Wisconsin's coach & then turning to the score table & signally that Hilger was a no go.

- It's Chad Red's turn for a homecoming as Nebraska visits Purdue and Indiana this weekend.  Chad will be favored in both matches.
- #4 Dylan Lydy vs. Mikey Labriola should be the highlight of their dual.  Lydy holds a 3-2 edge in matches with Labriola with 2 wins coming in 2017 and 2 losses coming last March before Lydy's 3-1 SV1 win on Dec 6 this season.
- #2 Mason Parris has a huge match on Saturday facing Iowa's #3 Tony Cassioppi
- #17 Lucas Davidson will have a tough test facing #1 Kollin Moore of Ohio State on Sunday.  Northwestern also faces Michigan State Fri.
- The Rooks brothers should have tough matches facing Ridge Lovett (Cayden) and Collin Purinton (Graham) in their dual with Nebraska

A couple of notes on the Carver Hawkeye Arena experience since we discussed it a little above. If you haven't been to a dual meet there I could not recommend it high enough. 16,000 absolutely rabid fans who love their wrestling and love their Hawkeyes even more in a beautiful facility.
 
For SWINfan, Lee paid Happel all he could handle. Happel is owed nothing now. The crowd was almost silent as it was happening. We all knew what was going to happen and it did. It was like when Joe Pesci as Vinny says to the neighbor of the Sack and Suds, "Come on, you can say it. They all know."
 
On the flip side, when Kemerer got his final takedown to seal the deal against Hall, I have never felt an explosion from a crowd that was even close to that. The noise was downright disorienting. It was amazing. And it lasted at the decibel level for a solid minute.

Edit: HAD him stuck. It's not Nick Lee's fault the ref was out of position. It was funny to listen to the Flo audio and hear Ben Askren yelling "What is that ref doing? He was pinned. Nick Lee just got Carvered."
