little biased here, but Leighton Jones's sophomore run through sectionals, regionals, SS  & state as a HWT to lose in OT to senior Reeve Muncie in the semis was pretty wild. If only two of those takedowns that ended outside of the circle had been inside & happened in regulation...

and it would depend which semi sate they went through as well. Fort Wayne vs Evansville?? Big difference.

Really? Getting kids outside of your school district doesn't happen in a small school deep in the south west of indiana.🤔

Done posted once already on this topic, but got to thinking deeply, probably too deep.  I'm split on the best wrestler I've ever seen between two kids.  As a father, have to say the best is to see your child step out on that mat and compete, no matter the talent.  So, in the eye of this old man, the best wrestler I've seen is equally split between Drake and Griffin Campbell, who many of you would not know because they are not elite, but they are to me...

A tournament that brings in some of the top Illinois, Michigan and Ohio teams has to be on top - before the travel rules change and CP inviting out of state teams to the carnahan, the Al Smith probably had to be the top. 
 
Being able to compete against top shelf teams from the neighboring (and more populous states of MI, OH, & IL) is now a game changer for those teams that engage in the competition, imho...

Love seeing Avon doing well. Super thankful for my job at The Burg. I have coached most of the kids on both teams at one time or another. I look to hopefully seeing a top five match up this week. #TheCounty!!!!

Having been around eastern Iowa on weekends this fall, i've gotten to know quite a few other Hawk freshman parents that are dialed into the football and wrestling scenes. I really like how Iowa does their state tournaments -- esp in football. They have class football (including 8 man) and only 16 teams make the tournament based upon RPI which then dictates seeding. Needless to say, the 6A 1st round debacle of BD vs. Brownsburg wouldn't have happened in that type of format. 
 
It's also been real interesting to hear their comments on single class wrestling and how brutal of a tournament that is. I've showed them pictures of the finals and how great a show it is (which they agreed was pretty nice.)
 
Good luck to the Clark brothers as they have shot at being double state champs - pretty tough to do in 6A football and in a single class wrestling state series...

I would argue that the ones that would be chosen to compete in this event are mostly year round wrestlers. If your area doesn’t have enough year round wrestlers then you area code will not win this event.
