  1. Geesh...next you will want 1's seeded at state so there is no chance for things like red/Lee before finals. Lol
  2. I know I was just messing with ya!
  3. no the guy I'm thinking of was a 4 x
  4. I believe there one was this leg cradling guy.....hhhmmmm....Lance something!
  5. I'll take Portage for $1000!
  6. It was a great catch by Wawasee's head coach, because it was pointed as a 1 pt stalling call. The opposing kid had an illegal move (think figure 4 around head, I believe) within 30 seconds. Got a stalling call in 2nd and 2nd stalling call 1-2 seconds as time ran out. In all fairness stalling could have been called 2 other times before that. 2 very "long" 5 second delay to return to mat (could go either way). Bands were off and about to shake hands before the Wawasee Coach said wait a minute! Some of the delay was to Track, but it was very meticulously gone over with other officials. Great job, right call.
  7. Do I hear 2 out of 6 or 1 out of 8. Way to lock it down. Lol. Sorry couldn't resist!
  8. Does it? What makes it different than it being called in the 2nd period. Wouldn't it be more creditable that someone make a call they see no matter when it is in a match? I understand the frustration, but it doesn't matter at what time the call is made if the official feels it's happening. Don't get me wrong I do feel there are officials that want to be part of the outcome, but those are pretty easy to pick out because it happens all the time in their matches. Is this one of those cases, don't know wasn't there.
  9. They stopped a match yesterday at Rochester for over 10 minutes, to make sure they got the call right. Ended up checking with other officials, making the correct call and sent the match into overtime! There are always questionable calls, mostly if I disagree or it is against me....lol
  10. I'm going to call it like I tell a kid that's pissed saying he wasn't pinned. If you don't want to be pinned don't put yourself in a position to leave it up to someone else, stay off your back. Same in this situation, if you don't want to take a chance getting a stalling call don't head backwards, circle in or don't stop attacking. Didn't see this match, but I also know we have gotten away from calling kids for backing up as much. I remember times when kids got hit for stalling for backing up out of the small circle and believe that is still the rule, just not called as much.
  11. By your theory; Black beat Bailey in FL 1.5 yrs ago. Bailey beat Paul. It's sad that so many of these beast are not wrestling!
  12. I find in middle school most kids naturally lose 5-20 lbs depending on their body style. Asking a kid to maintain a weight that they are at or slowly dropping during season is acceptable and teaches them the importance of making weight. Cutting weight is different, but younger kids fluctuate weight a lot. I kind of feel the same way for high school. Hard for kids to learn and train when cutting weight all the time. Officially, no to plastics. Did I use them in High School, yes. Used responsibly, they are not much different than a sauna. Rare cases of kidney damage, usually the cases that result in death is complete organ failure typically starting with kidneys. Not sure if there is a link to kidney damage from long term use. My medical education tells me no, but I guess if you were cutting weight year round than it could.
  13. Last year I believe it was between SS and state.
  14. I think there might be a kid by the name of Hatch at that also. Ranked #3 at 152 state and #1 at ss.
  15. Thought Black looked rusty from time off. His reactions on his feet seemed slow. Only see him getting better as time goes. I don't see Black losing to Rumph.
  16. Features Colburn and talk of stricter rules in regards to officials vs coaches. http://www.inkfreenews.com/2017/02/01/op-ed-cant-we-all-just-get-along/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook
  17. Sorry, migraine and flu. His mom put the information out there back when it happened, sorry I have slept since then. Not sure why I was thinking diabetes, but a simple you were wrong would have done. The post wasn't about him or what happened to him, just like the topic.......it's about alternates! But I'm going to guess that was just an error so I won't call you out on being off topic! The rest of it was correct, I hope. I'm sure if it isn't you will let me know. Just FYI, like you I will post when and how I want! But thanks for the advice!
  18. That sucks. But that is not the normal in Indiana, known for like 14 of the top 15 biggest gyms in the US.
  19. I thought byes in the past have not worked so well. Isn't that why they moved to 4 going to semi-state. To many 1 seeds losing after having bye.
  20. That's because most states are classed and have less kids per class than we do with one class. I was glad to see team state taken out of the middle of the week, I always felt this was a disadvantage to kids that had to wrestle and make weight 2 times a week. The week is nice to give time to recover from minor injuries during the weekend. I don't mind the 3 week grind, it's not a month once it starts. sect-reg (1 wk) reg-ss (2 wks) ss-state (3 wks). Plus you are talking about only 7.5 % of the kids from semi-state on. Whenever all this stuff is brought up everyone acts like it is the whole wrestling community. 896 Semi-state kids and 224 State kids. The majority of the kids at state are year long athletes, whether multi-sport or just wrestling.
  21. I respectfully disagree......there are not to many gyms that can't hold 3 mats and support the crowds at a sectional. Both sectional and our conference were won by the host team, in very tight results (the 1-2 match difference kind of stuff). Nothing against either of these teams, I know it sounded that way but wasn't meant to be a derogatory comment toward Plymouth or Northridge. Plus with the push to have more home/dual tournaments during the week, wouldn't it be just as important to host a sectional once and a while? Maybe even include regionals in this discussion. If you can fit 2 sectionals into Rochester Gym, than you can fit sectionals or regionals in most if not all gyms.
