Justin Ratliff got a reaction from TeamGarcia in Just a Prediction ….
Super secret inside source says BB could be down one coach if BB parent knocks them out before the big show. How will this play out? Could this be a game changer in the ‘Most coaches race’?

Justin Ratliff reacted to JORVILLE in Middle school state qualifier
We were signed up and definitely going but I believe the numbers will be better over one weekend. I think they had the right idea but 12 kids advancing was way too many. I would love to see the 4 locations with 4 advancing. They could run the State tournament with 16 man brackets like high school state but with wrestle backs .

Must be your first tournament.
No one registers for wrestling tournaments until 24 hours before the deadline and most within the last 2 hours.

when it comes to breaking news in #TheCounty . I am what you call “Notorious”. I know you wanna get your plug in for YOUR … Lafayette schools . I get that . Might wanna watch you finger typing tone when you typing “you left off Garcia” . My spidey sense picks up you type this furious anger . I get your upset . Deep breaths and count backwards from 10-9-8….. 😂

Justin Ratliff reacted to TripleB in Middle school state qualifier
Makes sense, I've been out of the MS loop for awhile. I like the 4 locations and take top 4, I think that might have been what I used to push. Really make MS state something special.
Have faceoffs, finals by themselves, etc.

Justin Ratliff reacted to Mattyb in Middle school state qualifier
Dustin,
You know that I have all the respect in the world for you, and this is a serious question… why is this a good thing?
Back in the day.. my oldest son made the finals two years in a row wrestling mostly on half mats in New Castle. One year we left at 10pm and at 11pm the next. The brackets were huge and perhaps a change was needed.
The last three years, we wrestled in better facilities with more and full mats. They even added more weight classes. Brackets were waaaay smaller and we now have more mats. My other son won this past year and we were home fairly early.
I think that some of our top kids will not want to take an additional week off of their national schedule to do a qualifier. We already had a bunch of our top guys skip out on the national team trip last year. I think we need to get all of those guys on the same page. We should have a top 6 team at heartland year in a year out.
I could be wrong… I would like to hear form the parents of the kids on the top middle schoolers list on this topic.
Again, nothing but respect for you and the fine members of our coaches association. I have lead and coached many times in Heartland. Heck.. I even started that trip out there. I would like to see a unified team go out there and kill it. Just don’t see this as the answer.

You did a good job too @leggin89.
A tournament like this couldn't be put on without a lot of great people.
Indiana Tech wrestlers did a great job setting up on Friday
Trine wrestlers and some Indiana Tech girls were great at the tables
Mark and Kyle doing an awesome job with Track and even shifting bouts on the fly.
The Carroll trainers who came and kept everyone from bleeding too much
The referees who made some good calls and kept Barnett from blowing a whistle.
My assistants Briggs and Smith who helped coordinate facility stuff.
The police officers who helped with a couple small issues
Adam Hartsough with amazing photos(check Facebook)
The great wrestlers, coaches, fans and parents that came, kinda hard to be a great tournament without those.
LT Hawkins for taking two third place medals
Lastly, my wife and kids who manned the front and did a great job.
Thanks everyone for a great weekend of wrestling. It is nice to have such a big event in this state that is a WRESTLING state!

Justin Ratliff reacted to CoachJoyce in Columbus North Welcomes...
The Columbus North Wrestling program is excited to welcome Jacob Fleckenstein and Adam Wolka to our staff!
Fleckenstein finished High School with a 159-17 career record, was a two-time Indiana state place winner, and went on to wrestle at Purdue. While at Purdue he earned Big10 wrestler of the week honors and finished 19th on the career takedown list.
Adam Wolka joins CN with previous experience in both Head and Assistant Coaching roles. Wolka, a multi-sport athlete in High School (FB & WR) and semistate qualifier, brings a wealth of Big-Man wrestling knowledge to the CN program.

Honestly, if you are in the Top 100 right now, as a middle school kid, you are balling. Your child will have an opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. The talent in Indiana right now is amazing. Seriously... Think about it. There are so many tremendous wrestlers out there, we should just be happy that the state is coming together and building a culture. My son is an eight time ISWA State Champ, when you factor in all three styles. But, dang... There are those kids that beat him, and you just nod your head and congratulate them. What a time to be a wrestler in Indiana!

Yes PaPa.... Great kids!!!!!!! Just glad that the kids don’t know anything about all of these comments. I can say that Gunner, Veazy, and Brewer were all talking this weekend and enjoying seeing each other. Bigger incoming guys that did very well and had fun. That’s what’s up. Who cares about the BS. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for Gunner and Veazy.

Justin Ratliff reacted to Y2CJ41 in IHSAA Restructuring Discussion
One of the biggest issues with our current semi-states is that they are not even close to being centrally located within their respective region. East Chicago and Evansville are literally in the worst possible places. New Castle is right up there and some schools such as the Muncie area are closer to New Castle than Fort Wayne. I don't see any changes in semi-state locations which then leads to which one do you start with then pan out there.
