Powerline got a reaction from nkraus in Ever wonder who...
Great point about the influence of Blubaugh that raises some salient points. Love looking at the history of IHSAA sports and IHSAA wrestling; there are a very few sports or schools that have established 'programs', that can sustain programs regardless of who the coach is; like Warren Central or Ben Davis in football, Carmel in swimming. A combination of culture, geographical advantages, and endless talent resource pool to draw from.
But then you look deeper at the unbelievable runs of other programs because of a once-in-a-generation truly great coaches that willed their programs to greatness, changing the lives of many, there are a few that stand out. Coaches like in:
* Baseball - LaPorte w/ Ken Schreiber (7 Titles),
* Basketball - Marion's Bill Green, 6 finals
* Track & Field with Gary Roosevelt's John Campbell (10 titles),
* Wrestling - Goebel at Mater Dei (12 Titles), or Delta's 5 year run under Patton
* Football with Hobart's Don Howell who made 11 title appearances .
You get an appreciation for what it took to make that happen, and the sacrifice. It's why we should be grateful to all our current coaches who put the time in changing lives. I can't imagine what they would do with some of today's over-involved parent / coaches.
From that list above, weird to see how all of those programs have dropped off significantly. If you told me 20 years ago that the Gary Roosevelt track team would not have any state finals qualifiers for Track & Field in 2018, or that Hobart would not sniff the IHSAA finals for 20 years, or that Bloomington's wrestling scene would drop off the map, I would have ran to Las Vegas and laid $10,000 down.

There is a lot going on here and the press articles are barely the tip of the iceberg.

While I agree it is easy to make it look bad and the media seems to have chosen to run with that full steam, I would like to think Hellickson knows these 2 better than almost anyone and is encouraging them to quit lying. For Yetts to say he dug up stuff on him to attack his character is laugh out loud funny. Its not like everyone didn't know he was in prison and Jordan hired a team to find it.
I can't believe this story has legs in the first place. It has been so over the top with the focus on Jordan that it blows my mind. Even if he weren't fully honest about knowing, in today's environment of politics and the stuff politicians have done and gotten away with this seems like the smallest of small in comparison. I am not saying what he did is right or even wrong, I don't know what he knows. All I am saying the effort to blame him for more than saying he didn't know is mind blowing.

Congressman Jordan seems super rattled by all this partisan press. In fact, he is so rattled, he decided to just be Speaker of the House. What a baller.

Im not even coming at it as Jordan more so the school administration. If jordan was told and didnt report it that is a big issue. I would hope that if I told a coach, My superior about an inappropriate interaction with another staff member that made me feel uncomfortable that something would be reported. I think for me thats the true thing I want to know. yes its decades ago but things like that can traumatize people. My hope is that if anything people can start reporting these kind of things and come out when things are not done.
Its a side tangent but one big issue is the fact is that people with power and money can simply settle out of court and hit someone with a NDA where they cant legally discuss any of it with anyone allowing people with a big enough wallet to get away with almost anything. Dont think its relevent to this case but a problem none the less either way might be time to shut this guy down. It bums me out trying to find Fargo info and seeing this lol but I let Joe make that call. Enough of you dislike me as it is I dont think adding political beliefs will be a help to that

This isn't a liberal thing, this is Disabato looking for money. In the past he has showed support for Jordan.
Everyone is always a tough guy when talking about how they'd react to a situation. There is no telling how you'd react until you're in a situation such as that. Look at the Sandusky scandal as an example of how the perpetrators can work.

Yetts and Disabato aren't exactly the most credible people out there. Disabato was the one behind Cage Fighter and is basically...scum.

There is no way he faces legal ramifications. This is just about him saying he didn't know about it and being a high ranking Congressman, period. Nobody thinks he helped the guy do it or covered for him. He was asked about it and he said he didn't know about it and that's what its all about. The fact that it sounds like there were 12 other head coaches who would be above him involved and that Hellickson asked the admin to get the doctor out of there would surely absolve Jordan here. This is other wrestlers speculating that he had to know and feeding his political enemies. There is no justice that can be served other than the administration at the time possibly being punished. The fact that Jordan is the headline here is messed up. By the way, I don't like my forum name much anymore.

If Trump wasn't President, this wouldn't be getting much attention at all.
Here is the crazy thing to me... Wrestler's are pretty mentally tough individuals. If someone touches them and they don't want to be touched, one would think.. the wrestler wouldn't put up with it and destroy the person touching them. That's my first thought. But, I've never bee in that situation so I can only empathize. I have spoken to several female rape victims and they common theme I hear is they don't want to tell anyone out of embarrassment, so it could be that as well.
The second thing that comes to mind is... How does stuff like this happen? Penn State, Michigan State, and now Ohio State? Terrible LEADERSHIP by all involved.
Third, It's so hard to believe anything with this case because of Jordan's political status. He's a top republican and now he's under attack by all the liberals.. They won't let this go and will go after him hard, simply because of politics and not because of facts...
Finally, as previously mentioned, $$$$$$ MSU had a HUGE (In Trump's voice) payout and these two former criminals are in for a nice payday.

Exactly - these two are out for the money and will take down anyone; the bull pucky that "they considered Jordan their friend". Both Yetts and DiSabato have shown they will fook their friends for anything. Yetts got people he befriended to invest with him, including their retirement savings, and he stole that, before being busted with marijuana distribution, etc. Only served 18 months and he got off light. He originally attended Purdue for football scholarship his RS & freshman year and had a reputation then before bolting for Ohio State to wrestle.
DiSabato has sued or been sued in just about every venture he has participated in, and is possibly still having money issues; he also has had litigation with Ohio State University; will be interesting to what his brothers say about him or Head Coach Russ Hellickson. https://www.thelantern.com/2009/11/fighting-for-then-losing-to-ohio-state/
Some of the other wrestlers are claiming that they are doing it for the money given the payouts MSU is looking at:

"Pardos, who has been interviewed by investigators, accused some of his former teammates of trying to cash in following Michigan State University's $500 million settlement with hundreds of sexual abuse victims of former university and USA Gymnastics physician Larry Nassar.
"After Larry Nassar, everyone is seeing dollar signs," Pardos said.
If you have ever had any dealings with either Jeff or Jim Jordan in the 1980's or 1990's, you would find they are two of the most down to earth, no-nonsense people you will ever deal with. They will have your back, but are professional about it - they are not the type of people to be out partying it up with the team, setting a bad example. They are persons of few words, but those few words they did use were important and honest.
