  1. He wouldn't have an easy road there either, but probably better than 126.
  2. Round 1 Perry Meridian vs. Mishawaka. Lecount vs. Forte. Who ya got?
  3. Should be fairly easy to explain. Most private schools fall into the 2A or 3A classes. When team sports are not classed, those relatively small schools are competing against teams from much larger schools with many more athletes to choose from. I am from Evansville and in Evansville we have 2 private schools, Evansville Memorial and Evansville Mater Dei. Memorial is 3A (about 800 students) and Mater Dei is 2A (about 500 students) in football, it shouldn't be that difficult for you to figure out why they have a hard time competing with schools that have 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 students. Are you really that dense?
  4. I know it's not EMD because we don't even go to Disney Duals because of the expense involved. The poster must be talking about Perry, Penn, Yorktown or some of the other schools that travel in the summer.
  5. Honestly, do we want Yorktown to bump up and take 6th in 3A? I know the other 2A schools didn't really compete too well with them last weekend, but if Yorktown bumps up and another team wins 2A does it mean as much to them? EMD moving up is just different. There is no reason for them to compete at 1A or even 2A. Yorktown probably wouldn't be within 40 points of the top 4 in 3A this year. Carroll is obviously fantastic and they have several other very good wrestlers, but they couldn't compete at 3A right now. They should stay at 2A and let the other schools in their class have something to work toward. I think it's wrong that every time a team or school has success people want them to move up and lose. If you don't like that Yorktown keeps winning, beat them. They are where they belong for now.
  6. EMD has about 500 students. I think they would qualify as a 1A school going strictly by numbers. I'm glad they choose to bump up to 3A
  7. One that stands out from today is Tommy Varner (145) from Penn over Michael Thomas (152) from Perry. I think the score was 7-4. Lots of other big matches today at team state.
  8. Great post and topic. Props also to the entire EMD program for moving up 2 classes and competing with the BIG schools. Great job today by a great coach and program
  9. I remember those posts too. I also remember somebody guaranteeing a Penn win in the finals.
  10. Saying he isn't may be just as ridiculous. He just dismantled Davis.
  11. Ward did not wrestle Haddad at MD last week. Haddad wrestled 138 and award 132.
  12. Just a few observations for what it's worth. At 120 Johnson has beat Brown this year. You have Brown #3 and Johnson #4. At 126, both Davis (Reitz) and Schitter (Jasper) have been wrestling at 132. I dont' think either has wrestled 126 this year. At 145, there is no way Brescher should be as low as 8. I know he's been hurt and not wrestling, but either take him off of the list or rank him where he should be, which is probably 3.
  13. Three years ago all 4 119's from the Castle regional advanced to state. Welch, VanHook, Wedding and Pierre. I believe the first 3 placed
  14. Are these your rankings or projected order of finish? Barlow was totally dominated by Brescher at 145 at Jasper before being pinned. I think he was down like 10-0 before Brescher stuck him.
  15. WrestleMan

    126

Does Wilson become the favorite if he goes 132?
  16. We all want less stalling but we shouldn't shorten matches to get it. Referees need to call stalling more early in matches to encourage wrestlers to be more active. Personally I would like to see 7 minute matches to reward the kid works harder. Also a longer match will make it harder for a kid to stall just to keep it close until the end and then make his move. No way we should shorten matches. I hate 1 minute periods. It's way to easy for a kid to run for a minute if he's bad on his feet and go I to the second scoreless. I hate the idea
  17. When do we get an update? Seems like we have a lot of results now and know what weights everyone is at. It will be interesting to see where everyone moves to
  18. Someone has to get through them, right?
  19. Now I wouldn't go and get too far ahead of yourself. It will be difficult for Perry Meridian, Mater Dei, Penn, Franklin, Cathedral or any of them to make the finals. The semi final matches will both be outstanding. Whoever wins the tournament will be a truly deserving champion.
  20. Well said and I agree. Chad Red is extremely good, but I think Nick takes this one. It won't happen though. Chad Red isn't going to move up to 126 to wrestle Nick (and he shouldn't, his weight class is 120) and I suspect next year Nick will be heavier than Chad by an even greater amount. I think both of them will find competition without Red having to move to 126.
