feez reacted to Y2CJ41 in Article: Carroll and Mendez look to dominate at Who’s #1
Jesse Mendez is making his third straight trip to FloWrestling’s Who’s #1 and Christian Carroll is wrestling in his first event. Both are looking to build upon a strong spring and summer and win their respective matches.
Carroll has been nearly unbeatable since last fall when he won the Grappler Fall Classic and followed that up with a Super 32 belt. This spring he was runner-up in freestyle and Greco-roman to eventual world champion Braxton Amos. After that he dominated at Fargo and won a Junior title at 220lbs. Carroll is the first Indiana wrestler to win a Fargo Junior championship and a Super 32 championship.
The match for Carroll will be the main event and a big guy super match. He will face off with the top ranked heavyweight in the country, Nick Feldman. Both “heavyweights” weighed in under 230lbs, so this is closer to a light heavyweight match-up. Feldman has won Beast of the East and National Prep titles to go along with winning at Who’s #1 a year ago. He’s an Ohio State commit and will be a great match-up for Carroll. This will NOT be a boring big guy battle.
Jesse Mendez is making his third trip to Who’s #1 and looking to be the first competitor to four wins in the event. The past two years Mendez has had to wrestle multiple matches, but this year he only has one in Michigan’s Casey Swiderski. Mendez has had quite a busy off-season that has included a trip to Russia for Junior Worlds, recruiting visits, and even being the grand marshal of the Crown Point July 4th parade!
His opponent, Casey Swiderski will look to pull off a big time upset and is likely the only one crazy enough to voluntarily take a match with Mendez. Swiderski is an Iowa State commit and according to everyone in the know has a similar style to Mendez with great technique, high pace, and tenacious attitude. Like Mendez, Swiderski has won three state titles in Michigan for Dundee High School. He was also a Fargo runner-up to Tagen Jamison of Texas. Look for this to be another great match.
The schedule begins on Saturday with wrestling starting at 7pm ET/6pm CT. Mendez will be the 11th match, while Carroll will be the final bout, match #14. You can watch all the action with a loaded card of the top wrestlers in the country on FloWrestling.

feez reacted to Y2CJ41 in Practice protocals
The main things we are focusing on is masks as much as possible such as during warm-ups, technique teaching, stretching, etc. The other is having groups of about 4 or 5 kids that can wrestle with each other. As well as the obvious things like hand sanitizer and more stringent cleaning.
Meets will be interesting as we will need to space seating and possibly limit who travels based on what JV matches we would have. I think we may even need to have a "half time" for duals to clean the mats. For bigger events we may need to clean mats after each round so it would add another 15 minutes to each round.
As we tell the kids, whether we like this stuff or not this is what we will NEED to do to have a full and complete season so just do it. No one wants to go to these measures so complaining isn't going to do any good.

feez reacted to Mattyb in Hoosiers in College 2019-2020 Results
@SWINfan Asa is banged up a bit. He was chomping at the bit to wrestle this weekend. He will be back better than ever soon. Same with The Peanut Butter and Jelly man. They both have solid winning records to start their careers. Look for them both to be at some more opens soon.
Can’t wait to see the others from last years high school graduate class to wrestle this weekend. Great group of kids.

Here is mine... Owen Sego. Nothing would make me more happy than to see this kid make a deep run or win it all. At 170, he is a complete wild card. He has the experience and a proud angel looking down on him. That could be all that he needs!!!

feez reacted to TeamGarcia in Asa Garcia
Miss those days bro, wish we could rewind time do it all over again going all the way back to MS days when it was not so hectic . Actually watched a few of the battles on huddle a couple days ago . 2015-16 was some of the best back and forth wrestling . Asa would win one, next weekend Ty win. They wrestled each other 6x that year, I believe that Ty won (4), Asa (2) .
Round 1,2,3,4,5,6
Not going to lie that year I was worried, Ty coming off his Runner Up 106, I text you later that year in 2015 right before season. We’re going 106, I was thinking to myself maybe he’d say 113.... text ..... you said so are we. You said there can only be 1 State Champ coming out of Hendricks County at 106. I said damn it ! Laughed, then so be it . Lol.
After they lose to each other they drop in the Rankings . I kept telling @ontherise219 i’d keep them where they started the year. Did he listen nope. Dropped them both cause they was beating the hell out of each other. I think he learned a lesson that year . Lol
Good times & great memories.
College match... ? Guess there can only be 1 NCAA Champ from Hendricks County to huh ?

feez reacted to jlittlejohn in Rules question
So, to put some clarity on this situation, after speaking with the official involved. There was a scoring error. The offensive wrestler had only earned a 2-point nearfall, which, did not earn the technical fall; therefore, wrestling was allowed to continue. The scorekeeper erroneously scored it as a 3-point nearfall which created the confusion. This, in fact, was a computation error, however, once it was brought to the tournament director's attention a conference with the official ensued and it was confirmed that the technical fall was never earned, thus, the reversal and subsequent fall were legitimate. It is unclear if the score was ever corrected in Trackwrestling, however, the correct result was entered. This may explain why the coach did not address the situation, immediately, it sounds like they may have been well aware of the correct score in real time.

feez reacted to WOC in B Lee class act
As I was leaving “The Bank” tonight, which was during the 170 final, I saw Brayton in the hallway with about 5 younger kids talking with them and letting them hold his Medal and put around there necks.... I thought to myself how awesome that was only a few minutes after he had received his Medal.... I think with the example of this fine young man leading the way, the state of Indiana wrestling is in very good shape!!!

feez got a reaction from JMILL in Brayton Lee Article...
Sunday I was at a meet in Brownsburg talking to a wrestler and his dad. I asked the wrestler if he knew who Brayton was and he said "Yes i was wanting to get his autograph."
I called Brayton over and introduced the wrestler to him. Brayton could not have been nicer and talked with the young wrestler for a few minutes.
CLASS ACT! !
Thanks Brayton
