I remember drinking “adult beverages” at IU at a party with Coughlin, Hernandez, Angel Escobedo, and Jose. I asked them who was the best team of all time. Boy oh boy that was fun. Tons of arguing between and beat you , and i never lost to MD etc going on. This was during their college days. I just stood back and watched, my job was done there ?

I have B Lee over Coughlin as well. That Coughlin vs Howe would’ve been insane. I think Coughlin is one of the most underrated wrestlers in Indiana history

Mauer over Hughes in probably the best match you could have..Mauer just didn't lose in the finals and had a uncanny ability to pull off the barn burners and imho had 3 of the best finals matches ever over Hobbs,Newport and dolley

I have Parris vs Robinson with Parris winning pretty easily...  If Junior year Parris was on the opposite side, I would have Parris vs Parris in Championship.

Jayruss had idea of showing a seeded bracket from last 16 years. Had to combine some weights. Seeding based on
Winning pct - shows dominance that season Grade - gives advantage to more experience Number of state titles - advantage to continued success (last number on each line) Season wins

I'll try to do a different thread for each weight class to focus the responses. Some REALLY interesting brackets. Went back and forth on how to weight it for seeding but this seems about the best

By the way, great idea @Jayruss

Beat me to it I was going to do last 16 years seeded as:
    1. Winning Pct - shows domination in their weight class
    2. Grade - gives advantage to more experienced wrestler
    3. Number of state titles - advantage to wrestlers with continued dominance
    4. Number of wins in a season

Here's what the 103/106 bracket looks like:

this is just for fun so dont beat me up too bad....  I just picked 2 for each final and winner not taking into account the random draw.
106 - Red 13 over Micic 12 (the super frosh wins the first battle of these 2)
    113 - Micic 13 over Cummings 16
    120 - Red 14 over Hudkins 15
126 - Micic 14 over Red 15 (the senior gets the win)
    132 - Lee 15 over Red 16 (a healthy Lee takes this hypothetical re-match)
    138 - Lee 16 over Black 17
    145 - Tsirtsis 12 over Lee 16/Lee 17 (Big Semifinal match)
152 - Lee over Lee (rematch of 145 semi final)*
    160 - Hughes 15 over Covaciu 16
    170 - Stevenson 13 over Hughes 16
    182 - Rypel 16 over Lynde 12
    195 - Davidson 17 vs Sliga 13 vs Rypel 15 (couldn't pick a winner here)
    220 - Parris 18 over Robinson 14
    285 - Streck 16 over Bernard 14

Here's a list of champions (displays best on desktop) from the last seven years with the current weight classes plus 2011 with the old weights (I may have misspelled a name or school)
As mentioned, the weight class changes make it challenging to create a 16-person bracket. The old 130-135-140 weight classes now are 132-138 and in the upper weights the old 189-215 is now 182-195-220.
Taking the last seven, you can run them through an 8-man bracket with the top seed getting a bye. Someone with far more knowledge would have to seed them.

I wouldn't be so sure that Rumph doesn't win his match.  He beat Black once last year, but the last 6 weeks he has been on a roll!  I am also fully biased, and I am not afraid to say that.  But I still think Senior Black vs. Senior Rumph would be a real fun one to watch and think Rumph takes the match.  Again, a Portage coach and obviously this is theoretical at this point.
