Found that on him....won it at 140 in 2004

His brother was ranked #1 but suffered a back injury at semistate & lost Friday night his senior year.

Was also rank near the top nationally too.  He was winning his first round state match early, but then made the decision to pick down on a very tough top wrestler.

Did Elkins win state with a funky pin in the finals.  I can't remember what it exactly was but I believe he was working on a reversal and stuck the kid in an awkward situation.  If I am remembering right I do believe he was winning at the time and was expected to win state.  He was tough.

He won the '04 title at 140 in one of the best matches I've ever seen.  He went back and forth, takedown for takedown, against future NAIA national champion, Charlie Pingleton.  He squeaked it out at the end, 10-9.

That would have been in 2006.  Chad Biddle and Cooper Samuels.

In 2000 they didn't have the "lights" in the final match.

Huh?

Thanks.  I remember it was a Portage wreslter.  They had an extremely good run in the early 2000's and were in your face physical wrestlers.

In 2000, the first year at Conseco Fieldhouse, they did not turn the lights off for the finals. As you can imagine there were quite a few people upset.

We aren't to far away from that now if they don't turn off or at least tone down the brightness/color of the advertising strip they have running during face-offs and finals.
